In the air transport market, competitive processes are seen more and more in terms of intra-industry, hence air carriers strive to achieve a high competitive position. Thus, the main goal of the research undertaken in the article is to assess the competitive position of the Hungarian air carrier Wizz Air. On the basis of the presented objective, the factors influencing the achievement of competitive position by enterprises were analyzed. The article uses available secondary sources in relation to the Polish air transport market. When analyzing the functioning of Wizz Air, the airports in which the aircarrier conducts operational activities were selected. The comparative analysis was carried out on selected routes where competition between Wizz Air and other carriers takes place.

In early 2019 there was a very high increase in ticket prices. Ticket prices for domestic routes in Indonesia have not gone down, which is a complaint of consumers and make complaints to government agencies such as BPKN and YLKI. However, this has become the spotlight of the Minister of Transportation, raising the lower limit tariff, but this is actually considered ineffective because it can only protect airlines. This is considered to have violated consumer rights as stipulated in the UUPK. The issue of how the regulations and government policies in terms of tariff determination from the perspective of consumer protection and how the protection of consumer rights regarding the imposition of upper and lower limits of air transport services based on Law No. 8 of 1999. The author conducts research in this issue using normative methods supported by expert interview data. The author analyzes that this problem violates the consumer rights of Article 4 regulated by UUPK and analyzes from the Minister of Transportation Regulation PM 20 of 2019 concerning Procedures and Formulation of Calculation of Tariff Limit for Passengers in Economy Class Services for Scheduled Domestic Commercial Air Transport and Minister of Transportation Decree KM 106 of 2019 concerning the Tariff Limit on Passengers of Economy Class Scheduled Domestic Commercial Air Transport Services. The suggestion that can be given by the writer is that the ministry of transportation should oversee airlines in determining tariffs and services to remain balanced and not to the detriment of consumers.

Due to the vast distances across the country as well as between urban centres, Australia is heavily reliant upon its air transport industry. Following deregulation of Australia's domestic air travel market on the 30th October, 1990, low cost carriers have entered the market. Australia's LCC market has had three discrete phases. The first wave occurred between 1990 and 1993 and was subsequently followed by a duopoly period in 1994–1999. The second wave occurred between 2000 and 2006 and the final wave has been in the post-2006 period. This paper examines the evolution of Australia's domestic low cost carrier airline market and finds that by 2010, low cost carriers had captured around 64 per cent of the market. Following the evolution of the “Virgin Australia” business model from a low cost carrier to a full service network carrier, commencing in 2011, the low cost carrier's market share has declined significantly and is now around 31 per cent. “Jetstar” and “Tiger Airways” are the two major carriers presently operating in this market segment.

Despite the rapid growth of low-cost airlines in the U.S. and Europe, yet little is known about the feasibility of such services in developing and less developed countries. In such a region, hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate passengers’ preferences and willingness to accept low-cost air transport services. Accordingly, a choice experiment was applied to examine passenger choices associated with a bundle of service attributes applicable to low-cost air transport service. Results of multinomial logit models defined fare, frequent flyer program, food and beverage services, ground services, flexibility, frequency and punctuality as determining factors affecting passengers’ air transport choice in Iran. Results further demonstrated that passengers’ preferences and their willingness to accept low-cost air transport service are associated with their socio-economic characteristics and travel behavior. This study contributes to the relative body of knowledge through offering willingness to accept calculation as a strategic tool to assess the feasibility of low-cost air transport provision in a region where such services are yet scarce.

Nowadays, many people live with SNS, showing their own lives to others and sharing ideas throughout the day. Thanks to the advanced technology, they need less time than ever to acquire information by using hashtag and only a single word and have no difficulties predicting others’ preferences and propensity to consume. Previous research results indicate that people having similar tendencies tend to similar kinds of brand products. The recent increase on the number of LCC(low-cost carrier) airlines has accelerated the competition in the air transport market, which makes airline companies introduce and apply a new brand strategy to their marketing. However, LCC airliners do not seem to differentiate themselves in their service quality and air-fare, in which circumstances it is not easy to attract new consumers. This paper is to suggest a new strategic marketing of LCC airliners by doing some research on the relationship between domestic LCC companies’ brand tendency and consumers’ recurring purchasing.

The deregulation of air transport has increased competition between air carriers, resulting in lower fares and increased volumes of passengers. Subsequently, the fare reduction has altered the market structure with the establishment of new carriers, strategic alliances and mergers, and the bankruptcy of several traditional airlines which were unable to adapt to the new environment. The emergence of low cost carriers (LCCs) is one important outcome of the deregulation. LCCs entered the market by offering a differentiated product based on bare services offered at significantly lower prices. The main target was travelers with increased sensitivity in pricing and less demand for all-around services. The rise in terms of passengers and flights dictated a better utilization of the fleet, requiring reduced turnaround times at airports. Many central airports had very little flexibility and capacity necessary to facilitate additional timeslots. As an answer to inadequate capacity combined with higher taxes and fees, most LCCs have chosen to use secondary or regional airports. This choice has altered the balance and strategic importance between airports and increased their importance for air carriers. This paper examines the evolution and development of LCCs globally, along with the consequences of their expansion to the traditional carriers, the market and the passengers. Emphasis is given to the relationship between LCCs and airports which has resulted in an additional increase in air travel. The prospects of Greece as a market for LCCs are also being discussed.

Purpose – For every country’s economy, air transport is strategically and vitally important. For improving the quality of air transport services provision, partnerships between airports and airlines need to be encouraged more. The application of partnerships leads to quality improvements of services provided by companies and raises the efficiency of used practices. A number of the factors, which determine the effective partnership between organisations operating in the aviation sector, is examined on the basis of specialised literature. The study addresses the question of how organisations interact with each other and what factors determine the need for partnership. Having identified common factors in the organisation’s operational interface and the need for it in the aviation sector and having analysed the practical examples of partnerships, the ways to enhance these factors are explored in order to achieve effective partnerships between airports and airlines. Research methodology – consists of comparative analysis, methods of logical analysis and abstraction, multi-criteria evaluation. Findings – The solution to the problem is expressed by identifying the factors of an effective partnership between the airports and the airlines and selecting the criteria for the assessment of the favourable effects of airport cooperation activities, and their hierarchical schemes from the positions of the airlines. Practical implications – Using multi-criteria assessment methods is easy to construct matrices of initial estimates, calculate final estimates and thus decide which airport is the most appropriate partner for an airline or vice versa.Originality/Value – A unique and, at the same time, a universal system of criteria, the application of which provides the preconditions for the development of the partnership, is created. Research limitations – The availability of data is limited to determine the reasonable values of the partnership criteria.

This article describes the great distance that separates Sardinia from mainland Italy has made the island – the second largest island of the Mediterranean – a marginal and remote region. Its system of ferry links for people travelling to and from Sardinia has such long journey times (8-12 hours) that it is clearly in no way a valid alternative to air transport. It was mainly on the basis of these reasons and with a view to protecting and ensuring the mobility of Sardinian residents that Public Service Obligations (PSO) were imposed on some of the main air routes starting from 2002. Our study is set against this background. It aims to resolve one of the main critical factors that distinguish the PSO network: the shortage of flights on certain routes and the concomitant over-scheduling of others. More specifically, the insufficient scheduling of weekly flights to certain airports, such as Verona and Turin, forces a number of passengers to decide not to travel at all and another part to use connecting flights to Rome/Milan airports or to travel using more than one route, via air or ground transport, with inevitably higher transport costs. The problem was addressed by using a linear scheduling model applied to a network of nodes and arcs representing, respectively, the airports and their connecting routes, and the airport of Cagliari. The decision variables identified were the number of passengers travelling on all of the arcs and the impedance measures associated with the distance travelled by the arcs, represented by the generalized cost of transport. The objective is to determine a network structure which corresponds to the distribution of passengers on the various branches capable of minimizing the total cost. This cost was considered as a useful parameter for comparing the various network scenarios which were obtained by changing the passenger load coefficient and the number of flights. Our study demonstrates that a simple intervention, aimed at the internal reallocation of the flights on the various routes, is able to guarantee categories of users (here divided into business and non-business users) greater access to air transport services. The scenario that more than others is able to improve service efficiency, granting undeniable benefits for all users without having an impact on the costs of air carriers, particularly stands out because it: • Allows access to all network airports through direct flights; • Decongests the Rome and Milan routes

Subject The impact of Brexit on airlines. Significance Irish-based low-cost carrier (LCC) Ryanair has repeatedly warned over the past months that Brexit could halt the majority of flights out of the United Kingdom. These comments echo wider concerns about the disruptive effect of Brexit and the United Kingdom's ability to negotiate new air transport agreements. Impacts Larger European airlines such as Air France-KLM and Lufthansa would welcome restrictions on UK-based LCC operations. UK airport expansion may be frustrated; in particular, expansion plans at London Heathrow could come under threat. The UK air transport market faces a period of slower growth with lower revenues and profitability.

<p>Nigeria is known for recognizing and rewarding veritable achievements of her women in different endeavors. Despite their high demonstration of patriotism, the paper argues that attention given to women’s political rights is inadequate in Nigeria’s fourth democratic republic; resulting to low political participation and poor electoral outcome. This paper relies heavily on secondary sources of data collection and conduct of comparative analysis. It identifies factors influencing low political participation among, and concludes that if those low influencing factors are not effectively addressed, it could weaken their sense of national patriotism in the long run.</p>

As a result of the dynamic development of charter flights by air transport there is a need to define and specify factors affecting the decision to make a touristic journey. The charter traffic was analyzed in relation to air carriers and airports. The change of preferences in the choice of final destination during the last 10 years was also indicated. Based on the shown conditions, the main goal and the research hypothesis were defined. The purpose of the article is to analyze the market and determine the factors influencing the development of charter flights in Poland. In this article theresearch hypothesis that it is avery dynamic market, which depends on many factors, above all on the level of wealth of the society and factors related to safety in holiday resorts was proven. This last aspect has in particular great impact on the offer of charter carriers. Based on the research and analysis carried out (using methods of analysis and logical and statistical constructs) factors shaping demand for tourist services in the air transport segment were determined, and in consequence it leads to the diagnosis of the behavior of charter carriers operating in Poland. Undoubtedly, this issue should be subjected to a thorough analysis in subsequent research works.
