The results of introducing silver nanocomposite based on zeolite and as part of Argovit preparation into the diet of poultry are presented. The experiment was carried out on quails of the Japanese breed during the periods of bird rearing (60 days) and productive use of laying quails (95 days). For the research, three groups were formed from quails aged one day (one control and two experimental) of 50 heads each. The quails were kept on a test farm in Novosibirsk Region in cell batteries subject to the required microclimate conditions. All groups received feed (the main diet), tailored to the age and physiological characteristics of quails. A silver nanocomposite based on zeolite and as part of Argovit preparation at a dose of 40 μg/kg of feed (on pure element) was additionally introduced into the feed for the birds of the experimental groups for 21 days. The effect of the supplements used was studied by the following parameters: survival rate of quail chicks, their growth intensity, feed efficiency ratio, indicators of meat and egg productivity, and quality of hatching eggs. The chemical composition of the feed, quail meat and eggs obtained from laying quails was studied in a biochemical laboratory using generally accepted methods of zootechnical analysis. When feeding experimental birds on silver nanocomposite based on zeolite and as part of Argovit preparation, the survival rate of quails increased by 3.0–4.0%, the average daily gain in live weight increased by 6.48– 7.35%, and feed consumption per unit of the produce decreased by 13.14–16.62%. The egg production of laying quails increased by 6.00–7.45%, the yield of egg mass – by 6.02–7.89%, and the yield of hatching eggs – by 3.33–11.7%. The highest indicators of meat and egg productivity and feed efficiency were obtained in the first experimental group that consumed zeolite-based nanosilver. The economic effect in the experimental groups increased by 13.76-17.26% compared to the control group.

The efficiency of introducing probiotics based on strains of Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis and their consortium in the amount of 150 g/t of feed into the diets of laying quails has been studied. The experiment lasting 182 days has been carried out on four groups of quails with 30 heads in each. The quails have been housed in the broiler battery in compliance with the required microclimate conditions. Quails of all groups have been received the main diet (compound feed) developed taking into account their age and physiological characteristics. The quails of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd experimental groups in addition to the main diet received probiotics (150 g/t compound feed) based on strains Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis and their consortium, respectively. It has been found that feeding the laying quails of the consortium of strains Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis had the most significant positive impact on their productive performance, it allowed to increase egg production by 7,81 %, egg laying intensity by 5,0 %, egg mass yield by 9,77 %, while reducing feed expenditures for 10 eggs by 13,35 %. The yield of hatching eggs has been increased by 7,03 %, hatchability of chickens from laid and fertilized eggs by 8,33 and 8,35 %, brooding waste decreased by 21,74 %. Hematological parameters of quails during the whole experiment were within the physiological norm. The economic effect calculated on the basis of data on the cost of compound feed, probiotics and the cost of sold eggs of quail laying was 14,56 % in the 3rd experimental group (in relation to the control group).

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of dietary Moringa oleifera (M. oleifera) leaves and/or seed powder on laying Japanese quail performance in terms of egg production, egg quality, blood serum characteristics, and reproduction. In total, 168 Japanese quails (120 hens and 48 males) at eight weeks of age in laying period were randomly distributed to four treatment groups, with six replicates per group and seven birds (five hens and two males) per replicate. The first group (G1) served as a control group, while G2, G3 and G4 groups were supplemented with M. oleifera leaves (ML) and M. oleifera seeds (MS) and their combination ((1 g/kg ML; 1 g/kg MS; and 1 ML g/kg + 1 MS g/kg (MSL), respectively). From the results, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, egg weight, fertility and hatchability from fertile eggs, egg and yolk index, and Haugh unit were not affected by dietary treatments. However, egg production, egg mass, eggshell thickness, and hatchability were significantly increased and blood aspartate transaminase (AST) and urea decreased in the MS treatment. Both triglycerides and total cholesterol were reduced (p < 0.05) in all treatments with ML, MS, and MSL, with no significant differences in alanine aminotransferase (ALT), albumin, total protein, globulin, and A/G ratio among dietary treatment. Our results clearly indicated that the inclusion of M. oleifera seeds in Japanese quail diet significantly increased egg production and improved hatchability, along with some egg quality parameters, and also lowered some blood biochemical components.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of increasing levels of guava agro-industrial waste (GAW) on the ingestive behavior of Santa Inês lambs. Forty non-castrated sheep of the Santa Inês breed were used, at an initial weight of 21.33 ± 2.62 kg, and at the age of 120 days, distributed in a completely randomized design, with five treatments and fed with increasing GAW levels (0.0, 7.5, 15.0, 22.5 and 30.0%). The average daily gain (ADG) showed orthogonal contrast (P <0.05), in which the animals that ingested the control diet had lower performances. The animals with GAW added to the diet obtained more significant weight gains reflected by a better feed conversion. Among the variables, idleness, feeding, and total chewing time had a significant effect (P<0.05); animals spent more time idle at the 30.0% inclusion level and less time in the control group. However, the means of the 7.5, 15.0, and 22.5% GAW inclusion levels were statistically similar to the control group and the 30.0% level. There was a significant effect (P<0.05) on feed efficiency, with the lowest values being presented for the control group and the highest values at the 30% inclusion level of GAW. The 30.0% GAW feed for lambs in confinement reduces feed time, and total chewing prolongs idleness and increases feed efficiency without compromising dry matter intake, neutral detergent fiber intake, and ADG.

Two factorial trials, each including three commercial laying hybrids, were conducted to study the effects of a short laying rest on postrest performance of hens and on egg quality. A total of 1800 hens laying at 65% on an average (70 wks of age) were subjected to one of the following treatments: no rest (control, C) or feeding only whole-grain barley (WB) or fasting (F, Trial 1 only) until the rate oflay dropped to 0%, after which the birds were returned to the previous all-mash diet. The second laying period was six months. Egg production of the WB and F hens ceased within one week on an average and the birds were out of production for 10 days. Laying intensity during the second production period did not differ significantly between the treatments in each trial, but egg weight and daily egg mass production increased as a result of the rest treatments. The laying rest procedures reduced feed intake, improved feed efficiency and increased live weight significantly. Egg shell and albumen quality traits were significantly better in the laying rest groups than in the controls. Significant differences in performance and egg quality between the hybrids were mainly ascertained in Trial 2. The results suggest that a short laying rest is a feasible means of improving egg quality towards the end of the laying period. It can be accomplished successfully by feeding whole-grain barley.

This paper presents a study of the effect of the feed additive «Abiotonic» on the indicators of egg and meat productivity when applied to laying hens. It was found that with the additional introduction of this additive into the standard diet of poultry, the content of nonessential amino acids in their meat is 10% higher compared to the same parameters in the meat of chickens of the control group, the content of partially nonessential amino acids is by 8,5%, and of irreplaceable amino acids is by 6,7%. In addition, in the meat of laying hens, which used the feed additive «Abiotonic», the content of selenium (Se) is 29,4% higher than in the meat of birds of the control group, and iron (Fe) – by 20%. The average daily gain in live weight of the birds in the experimental group was 3,6 g more than in the control hens. Microbiological research made it possible to establish that poultry meat, regardless of the introduction of the feed additive «Abiotonik», meets the established requirements and is safe for human consumption. «Abiotonic», in addition, significantly improves the egg production of birds. It was found that the weight of eggs with the introduction of this feed additive in the diet in addition to the compound feed increased by an average of 1,2 g, and the egg production increased by 23 eggs in 7 days.

Four groups of 48 laying hens (Gallus domesticus), midway in their laying cycle were fed diets containing graded levels (0.00%, 1.5%, 2.5% and 3.5%) of dietary Nutrafos 3 for 56 days. The completely randomized experimental arrangement was designed to evaluate the responses of the caged layers to the inclusive levels of the additive under humid tropical conditions. The dietary additive produced statistically significant (P< 0.01) improvements in the rate of egg production of the hens. Significant increases (P< 0.01) in feed consumption and improvements in feed efficiency (P < 0.01) were also observed. Haugh unit was significantly (P < 0.05) depressed by dietary Nutrafos 3, especially at the highest level of inclusion. There was no treatment effect on egg size as well as some major anatomical characteristics. The best overall performance was achieved at the 3.5% level of dietary inclusion in contrast to the proprietary recommendation of 2.5%.

The effects of raw versus steamed navy bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) meal, in diets with and without methionine supplementation, on egg production, egg weight, body weight, pancreas weight, mortality, feed consumption and conversion, and energy and nitrogen utilization were determined with laying hens. As the level of raw navy bean meal in the diet increased, egg mass production and body weight gain decreased. Declines in production were largely overcome by steaming the bean meal. Methionine supplementation of both raw and steamed meal diets had no effect on performance. Changes in dietary metabolizable energy and nitrogen retention are discussed in relation to bird performance.

The research has been conducted which aims to analisys the effect of fermented rice bran to pig performance.Completly Randomize Design with 4 treatments and 4 replicates were used in this research. Treatment A: pig givenration containing rice bran without fermentation, treatment B: pig given ration containing 25% fermented rice bran,treatment C: pig given ration containing 50% fermented rice bran, and treatment D: pig given ration containing100% fermented rice bran. Observed variabels are: feed consumption, average daily gain, feed convertion ratio,digestability of nutrient dan digestible energy (DE). Results of this study concluded the used of fermented rice branincreased of growth and feed efficiency.

The aim of the study was to test whether a single intramuscular or oral application of iodized fatty acid esters (IFAE), without any iodine supplements in the rations, would increase for a long time iodine concentrations in egg yolk without any drop of egg production and egg quality. The results were compared with those obtained using the conventional iodine source &ndash; potassium iodide (KI). After the adaptation period, 10 mg of iodine/kg of live weight were applied to the experimental layers at the age of 21 weeks. The layers were divided into four groups: the group K-KI received iodine orally in the form of potassium iodide; iodine was applied orally in the form of IFAE to the group P-PO; and iodine as IFAE was applied intramuscularly to the group P-IM. The control group (K-0) received no iodine. Increased concentrations of iodine in egg yolk were observed following oral application of KI and IFAE. Maximum concentrations were measured on day 5 following application (12 863 &plusmn; 3 269 &mu;g I/kg for K-KI, and 14 037 &plusmn; 2 506 &mu;g I/kg for P-PO). Quite different course of changes was recorded following intramuscular application of iodine (group P-IM). Both, the increase and drop of iodine concentrations were slow, maximum values were measured from day 11 till day 35 of the experiment (from 769 &plusmn; 426 to 1 163 &plusmn; 757 &mu;g of I/kg yolk). Intramus&shy;cular application of IFAE resulted in significantly higher levels (P &lt; 0.05, P &lt; 0.01) of iodine in egg yolk from day 11 till the end of the experiment (on day 154) compared with the group K-0, and from day 14 compared with the group K-KI. At the same time, more fluent course of egg production with maximum at the age of 34 weeks was observed in laying hens. No effect of iodine application on egg production and egg mass was found. Significantly higher weights of eggs (P &lt; 0.05, P &lt; 0.01) and egg white (P &lt; 0.05) were recorded following oral and intramuscular application of IFAE compared with the control group K-0.

A trial was conducted to evaluate the requirement of digestible lysine at various protein levels in the diet of WLH layers (BV-300) from 25-44 weeks of age. Layers (528) were fed with diets containing two protein levels i.e. 13.36 and 15.78 % each with 5 % concentration variations of lysine (0.50, 0.55, 0.60, 0.65, and 0.70) and a control with 17 % CP and 0.70 % lysine. Each diet was fed to six replicates of eight birds. Egg production, feed intake, body weight were not influenced either by the concentration of lysine or by level of protein in diet. Increased (P d” 0.05) egg weight and egg mass were observed with increasing lysine in diets. Better feed efficiency was observed with increasing lysine concentration. It can be concluded that WLH layers require approximately 0.65% lysine with 13.36% CP or 0.63% lysine with 15.78% CP (i.e. 598.80 vs 570 mg/h/day) in diet.
