The growth and yield of taro (Colocasia esculenta L.) plants are influenced by the planting material. The use of planting material derived from corms is expected to improve the quality and quantity of taro growth and yield. This research aimed to find the best type of planting material and cultivars for taro growth and the potential of taro plants as animal feed. The experiment was carried out in Jember, East Java ( elevation ±89 m asl). The experiment used the randomized completed block design method with two treatment factors, the type of planting material (B) as the first factor (B1: taro corms, B2: taro tiller, B3: taro stolon) and the use of taro cultivars (V) as the second factor (V1: green taro, V2: ketan taro, V3: Sukabumi taro). The treatment was repeated four times. The results showed that there was an interaction between the use of taro planting material and taro cultivar that could influence the tuber weight per plant. The types of planting material had a significant effect on the number of tillers, leaf area, corm weight and diameter, and the planting of several taro cultivars significantly affected all observed variables. The treatment that gave the best results was planting material from taro tuber (B1) and Sukabumi cultivar (V3) with a tuber weight yield of 362.58 g (±14.5 tons/ha). Meanwhile, the Sukabumi cultivar (V3) had the best potential as animal feed. Overall, the stems and leaves of taro had a protein content of 1.19–2.02%, while the corms had 2.82–4.09%.

Soybean is the most important food commodity besides rice and maize. Besides from being a source of vegetable protein, soybean is used as animal feed and raw material for processing industrial of soy sauce and soymilk. Land in Palangka Raya is peat soil that mostly high level of acidity. This constraint for agriculture development because of low availability of plant nutrients. One attempt to overcome this obstacle is the application of oil palm bunch ash (OPBA).The aim of this study was to analyse the interaction between the time application and doses of OPBA on the growth and yield of soybean in peat soil. The research was conducted on peat soil in the Bereng Bengkel village, Sebangau subDistrict, Palangka Raya using randomised block design (RBD) with two factorialtreatments. The first factor is the timing of OPBA application which consists of two levels i.e., two weeks before planting (WBP) and tree WBP planting. The second factor is the OPBA dosage which consists of four levels i.e., without OPBA, 250 kg/ha, 500 kg/ha and 750 kg/ha. Each treatment was repeated three times so that there were 24 experimental units. The experimental results showed the interaction time of timing and OPBA dosage on peat soil was highly significant; the number ofeffective root nodules on five weeks after planting (WAP) observation. The single factor of OPBA application time has very significant effect on a number of effective root nodules age five WAP, days to flowering and number of pods per plant. While single-dosage factor OPBA has very significant effect on the number of root nodules on five WAP observation, broad leaf age nine WAP, days to flowering and number of pods per plant

Planting potatoes in the tropical lowlands as an effort to reduce the adverse effects of planting in the highlands such as erosion, pests and plant diseases has been carried out and the tubers have been successfully obtained. Planting of potato seeds was carried out with an aeroponic system and climate modification in the root zone cooling environment. Climate modification is carried out at an altitude of 250 m asl and <125 m asl. The stability of the temperature in the aeroponic chamber can be maintained by regulating the time of spraying cold nutrients through the nozzles to the root area. However, the importance of the time to provide nutrition in order to maintain the optimal temperature of the root area in aeroponic systems in the lowlands has not been widely reported scientifically. The purpose of this study was to obtain the appropriate time for nutrition in order to maintain optimal chamber temperature and to have an effect on the growth and yield of potato seeds. The research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto, Central Java, Indonesia. Height of place <125 m above sea level. The study was conducted from July to September 2017. The factors that were tried in the study were as follows: 1. Length of time for nutrition (T): T1: 2.5 minutes OFF and 15 minutes ON; T2: 5 minutes OFF, 15 minutes ON, T3: 10 minutes OFF, 15 minutes ON, T4: 15 minutes OFF, 15 minutes ON, 2. Varieties (V): V1 (Atlantic), V2 (Granola). Growth parameters observed: plant height, number of leaves, number of tubers, tuber weight. Experiment using a randomized block design with 3 replications. The data were analyzed by F test and continued with Duncan’s Multiple Range Testof 5% level. The results showed that the duration of nutrient administration by setting a timer gave different results on the growth and development of aeroponic plants of potato seeds in the lowlands 125 m above sea level. The duration of nutrition administration 2.5 minutes OFF gave the highest number of tubers and tuber weight compared to the duration of nutrition 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 15 minutes OFF. The number of tubers obtained is 7.3 tubers / plant with boto an average of 2 mg. The duration of nutrition is 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 15 minutes OFF does not produce tubers.

Soybeans become a source of plant protein and an essensial food ingredient in Indonesia. Extreme climate change causes weather changes; the impact is a long dry season which results in drought. Efforts to deal with drought stress are carried out using drought-tolerant soybean varieties that drop of production can be suppressed. The purpose of the study is to study growth responses for several different soybean varieties with drought-stricken conditions. The research was conducted from October 2019 to January 2020 at the Green House Agroecotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Banten. Factorial randomized block design method was then used which consists of two factors and three repetition. The first factor were that the Varieties consists of V1: Argo mulyo variety; V2: Deja 2 and V3 varieties: Dena varieties. The second factor was drought percentage comprising k1: 100% ATT (Groundwater Available); k2: 80% ATT, k3: 60% ATT and k4: 40% ATT. The results showed that differences in varieties and drought stress did not significantly affect the growth and yield of soybean crops. Argo Mulyo varieties are superior to drought stress compared to Deja 2 and Dena varieties from the weight of 100 seeds. No interaction of different soybeans varieties treatment and drought stress on all observation parameters.

Garlic is an important cash crop in many regions of Ethiopia. However, the yield of the crop is constrained by several factors. Among these, inappropriate clove size is one of the major agronomic practices that can decrease the yield of the crop. Hence, a field experiment was conducted during the 2020/21 main cropping season at Debre Berhan University, College of Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences, demonstration and research site to evaluate the effect of clove size on growth and bulb yield of garlic (Allium sativum L.). The treatments consisted of five clove sizes: 1–1.49 g, 1.5–1.99 g, 2–2.50 g, 2.51–2.99 g, and 3–3.5 g. An improved variety “Tseday” was used as a planting material. The experiment was laid out as a randomized complete block design in a factorial arrangement and replicated for three times. The results revealed that clove size significantly influenced all growth and yield parameters of garlic. Planting of 3–3.5 g cloves reduced days to emergence by 11 and 6.33 days and days to maturity by 28.33 and 18.00 days, respectively, as compared to planting of 1–1.49 g and 2–2.5 g cloves. This treatment also increased total bulb yield by 25.88% and 15.58%, respectively, as compared to planting of 1–1.49 g and 2–2.5 g cloves. In addition, this treatment significantly increased most of the growth and bulb yield components. Hence, it can be concluded that planting of 3–3.5 g cloves could be recommended to enhance early emergence, good vegetative growth, and total bulb yield of garlic.
