Rubber cone merupakan produk karet teknik yang digunakan sebagai mechanical seal part pada stuffing box pompa angguk sebagai peralatan utama untuk memompa crude oil dari dalam perut bumi sehingga keberadaannya begitu krusial dalam menentukan produksi yang akan dicapai. Dalam penggunaannya, rubber cone dikategorikan sebagai consummable part sehingga dibutuhkan dalam jumlah yang besar. Rubber Mechanical seal stuffing box pompa angguk saat ini sebagian besar berbahan baku karet sintetis NBR (rubber) yang mempunyai ketahanan yang baik terhadap gesekan dan minyak. Produk rubber cone berbahan baku karet alam yang dibuat diharapkan memenuhi spesifikasi teknis operasi pompa angguk yang bekerja pada kondisi beban tinggi, tahan terhadap gesekan serta tahan terhadap minyak dan temperature tinggi. Vulkanisat rubber cone bahan baku karet alam di uji untuk kemudian dibandingkan dengan spesifikasi teknis rubber cone komersiil. Uji kekuatan tarik dan kekerasan vulkanisat karet berdasar standar ASTM D412. Dari hasil uji ini diharapkan rubber cone karet alam dapat menggantikan rubber cone komersiil, sehingga mengurangi ketergantungan produk karet teknik impor.

Stasiun Klarifikasi merupakan stasiun tempat proses pemurnian Crude Oil atau minyak kasar hasil ekstraksi dari Stasiun Pressing. Pada stasiun ini minyak kasar dibersihkan dari kotoran-kotoran seperti padatan, lumpur, dan air sebelum dikirim ke Tangki Penyimpanan. Stasiun Klarifikasi terdiri dari beberapa mesin yang beroperasi secara terus-menerus selama proses produksi sehingga apabila terjadi kerusakan pada mesin akan menghambat proses produksi. Dengan demikian tindakan perawatan sangat penting terutama terhadap komponen kritis agar Stasiun Klarifikasi dapat beroperasi dengan baik. Metode Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) dapat digunakan mengidentifikasi komponen kritis mesin agar dapat menentukan tindakan perawatan yang tepat. Dengan demikian tujuan penelitian adalah menggunakan metode Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) untuk mengetahui komponen kritis pada Stasiun Klarifikasi dan menentukan tindakan perawatan untuk meminimalkan potensi kerusakan. Langkah-langkah untuk mendapatkan hasil penelitian adalah (1) Mengumpulkan Data, (2) Mengidentifikasi komponen kritis, (3) Menentukan tindakan perawatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan komponen kritis pada Stasiun Klarifikasi adalah Packing Body Pompa Crude Oil (RPN: 105) dan Mechanical Seal Pompa Condensate (RPN: 105). Tindakan perawatan yang dapat dilakukan adalah penggantian komponen (replacement). Penggantian komponen dijadwalkan berdasarkan Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) ,yaitu. Packing body pompa crude oil diganti setiap 1.657 jam (5 bulan) dan mechanical seal pompa condensate diganti setiap 1.037 jam (3 bulan).

This paper investigates factors affecting Vietnam’s stock prices including US stock prices, foreign exchange rates, gold prices and crude oil prices. Using the daily data from 2005 to 2012, the results indicate that Vietnam’s stock prices are influenced by crude oil prices. In addition, Vietnam’s stock prices are also affected significantly by US stock prices, and foreign exchange rates over the period before the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. There is evidence that Vietnam’s stock prices are highly correlated with US stock prices, foreign exchange rates and gold prices for the same period. Furthermore, Vietnam’s stock prices were cointegrated with US stock prices both before and after the crisis, and with foreign exchange rates, gold prices and crude oil prices only during and after the crisis.

This study presents an interdisciplinary approach towards a critical analysis of some impacts of crude-oil exploration in Niger Delta and polemics of viable conϐlict resolution framework. This approach involves analysis of Ahmed Yerima’s creative portrayal in Hard Ground which revolves around the variables activating conϐlicting emotional interests in matters concerning ‘black gold’ in Nigeria, and how these variables resonant in debates and demands for Nigeria’s polity restructuring because of perceived resource mismanagement. More so, our scope includes an analytical attempt at illuminating elaborately our interpretation of the dimensions to the loud and shrewd inclinations subsuming what some see as solution to the lingering conϐlict, and the suppositions explaining why others see the debates and demands on polity restructuring as dark convoluted ploys aimed at hidden agenda. Hence, through select theories of victimhood, this study attempts to elucidate on the variables propelling conϐlicting emotional interestsabout oil exploration in Niger Delta, by looking interpretively hard and deep on the perspectives, views and suppositions deϐining the ideologies and inclinations propelling them. In the end, this study notes that the disenchantments and troubles with Nigeria’s polity framework and structure as it relates to oil exploration in Niger Delta are subsumed in Hard Ground’s creativecontribution as a means of assessing the points to the fault-lines that characterize the subsisting socio-political structure upon which Nigeria stands and wobbles.

This paper presents a method of sorption using peat for elimination of emergency spills of crude oil and petroleum products and the possibility of energy use of oil-saturated peat. The results of assessment of the sorbent capacity of peat are presented, with waste motor oil and diesel fuel chosen as petroleum products. Natural peat has been found to possess sorption properties in relation to petroleum products. The sorbent capacity of peat can be observed from the first minutes of contact with motor oil and diesel fuel, and significantly depends on their viscosity. For the evaluation of thermal properties of peat saturated with petroleum products, experimental studies have been conducted on determination of moisture and ash content of as-fired fuel. It is shown that adsorbed oil increases the moisture and ash content of peat in comparison with the initial sample. Therefore, when intended for energy use, peat saturated with petroleum products is to be subjected to additional drying. Simulation of net calorific value has been performed based on the calorific values of peat and petroleum products with different ratios of petroleum product content in peat and for a saturated peat sample. The obtained results are compared with those of experiments conducted in a calorimetric bomb and recalculated for net calorific value. A satisfactory discrepancy is obtained, which amounts to about 12%. Options have been considered providing for combustion of saturated peat as fuel (burnt per se and combined with a solid fuel) and processing it to produce liquid, gaseous and solid fuels. Peat can be used to solve environmental problems of elimination of emergency spills of crude oil and petroleum products and as an additional resource in solving the problem of finding affordable energy.
