The Internet has become the essential media for daily work of cultural management professionals. Its richness of contents and the fast evolution of technologies do even exceed the capacity of adaptation and decision of the professionals due to the wide range of possibilities that the Internet offers. It is in this new context where technologies and cultures get mixed up as cultural institutions cannot play the same roles as they did in the analogic world. Not only the classical functions of conservation, research, commission or exhibition have to be valued, but also in the role of broadcasting, doors to communication 2.0 should be opened, getting into the social networks, not only sharing but also listening what the users have to say. This new step has to be managed by institutions that are able to understand and add the new philosophy 2.0 in their corporative and communication culture. It is not longer one-way communication as the role of the users is essential. The author will analyse the strategies and models of some institutions that have incorporated digital practices and culture in their organizations and communication and therefore, the way they connect with their different audiences (Creators/artists, users and other organizations.) have changed.

AbstractThis article aims to contribute to a better understanding of the impact of the Internet on distributed creativity. While the social mechanisms that are fundamental for creative expression are not radically different online, and while we want to avoid overly romanticizing the role of the Internet or falling prey to technological determinism, we argue that there are, nevertheless, significant shifts that must be acknowledged and examined. In order to achieve a more nuanced and analytical account, we suggest a simple framework centred around five questions - who, when, where, how and why - that allow for a differentiated understanding of the range of changes in creative expression in the Internet age. To model the application of this framework, we use the example of crowdsourced art (participatory online art) as a creative practice that illustrates some of these key shifts. In thinking about creativity in online spaces, we suggest that the consideration of actors (who), times (when), places (where), processes (how) and motives (why) facilitates a valuable multidimensional understanding of these significant and complex changes.

Motherhood is widely perceived (similarly as the role of mother associated with it) through the prism of various stereotypes. Motherhood is one of the most important threads in a woman’s life and nowadays, many things are expected of mothers, such as: being effective at work, home, being able to take care of house and family, and above all, taking care of children. In the social opinion, being successful in all of these areas “should” give a mother a sense of fulfillment despite her psychophysical fatigue. However, this is not always the case – women more often share opinions and experiences related to the experience of motherhood, with all its advantages and disadvantages. Due to the importance of motherhood for individual and social life, this article presents an attempt to verify the stereotype of a Polish Mother in the context of parenting content published by modern mothers on the internet. Based on analysis, a new social phenomenon has been identified. There is a specific group of women functioning in the internet, they are described by the authors of the article as “neo-tribe mothers”. Authors made an attempt to answer the following questions, such as: what the characteristics of a “neo-tribe mother” are and how she identifies problems related to motherhood.

The access to the internet in Cuba marks the beginning of a change and it brings new ways to debate on the socialist ideology reformulating the strategies to operate, dialogue, and accept any form of criticism. This chapter explores the role of the internet in Cuba from the perspective of the conflict in the virtual space and how it reshapes the Cuban revolutionary ideal. Thus, this section investigates the ways in which cyber mambises interact in order to control the digital zone; it examines the social and political implications of these cyber activities, and the conflicts generated from them. Also, this chapter focuses on the methods of control of the digital space and on how control is enacted through a hyper-visible presence in the web. Consequently, it examines how the virtual interactions between the controller and the controlled change the dynamics of control, adding new layers to the dialogue—or lack of dialogue—and conflict between officials and dissidents on the island.

The evolving world of the Internet — blogs, podcasts, wikis, social networks — offers instructors and students radically new ways to research, communicate, and learn. Integrating these Internet tools into the college classroom, however, is not an easy task. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to examine the role of social networking in education and demonstrate how social network sites (SNS) can be used in a college classroom setting. To do this, existing research relating to SNS and education is discussed, and the primary advantages and disadvantages of using SNS in the classroom are explored. Most importantly, specific instructions and guidelines to follow when implementing SNS (i.e., Facebook) within the college classroom are provided. Specifically, we show that multiple types of Facebook course integration options are available to instructors. It is concluded that SNS, such as Facebook, can be appropriately and effectively used in an academic setting if proper guidelines are established and implemented.
