In 2009, the SPARO questionnaire was one of the most used assessment methods in the Czech Republic (Urbánek, 2010), especially between psychologists in human resources, prisons, police, or the army. However, empirical evidence of its reliability and validity is missing. Using a significant sample of police officers and applicants to police, we researched the questionnaire's reliability and factor validity. About half of the scales do not have adequate internal consistency; the majority of them are not unidimensional. Factor validity is questionable, especially in the main components of the questionnaire, which are highly correlated. These correlations were also present in the original standardized samples as our and original correlation matrices do not differ. The factor structure of the two general factors items is not clear and two dimensional. Our results do not support the use of the questionnaire in practice. It is necessary to confirm its’ predictive validity; the criterion validity is evaluated in our follow up study (Cígler & Rudá, 2021).

Scanning microscopy was used to study the surface of human gallstones and the surface of fractures. The specimens were obtained by operation, washed with water, dried at room temperature and shadowcasted with carbon and aluminum. Most of the specimens belong to patients from a series of X-ray follow-up study, examined during the last twenty years. So it was possible to evaluate approximately the age of these gallstones and to get information on the intensity of growing and solving.Cholesterol, a group of bile pigment substances and different salts of calcium, are the main components of human gallstones. By X-ray diffraction technique, infra-red spectroscopy and by chemical analysis it was demonstrated that all three components can be found in any gallstone. In the presence of water cholesterol crystallizes in pane-like plates of the triclinic crystal system.

In the previous study (Cígler & Rudá, 2021), we were not able to confirm satisfactory internal consistency and factor validity of the SPARO questionnaire. However, further psychometric properties are also necessary to consider the questionnaire's validity and usefulness in practice. In this follow up study, we examined its criterion validity to MMPI-2, which is used globally and thus has broader empirical support. Despite that, we did not find any support for neither convergent nor divergent validity of the main components, general factor, and the credibility score (L) of SPARO questionnaire to selected MMPI-2 scales. The only exception was the emotional variability scale (EM). As a minor result, we also examined the internal consistency and factor validity of MMPI-2 scales as no other Czech study concerning the questionnaire exists. Neither reliability nor factor validity was satisfactory. Finally, we argue that using the SPARO questionnaire in regular practice cannot be recommended. Cautious use of the MMPI-2 is possible, regarding international validation studies, however, further Czech research is needed, especially in the predictive validity.

In mobile computing, a fundamental problem is maintaining awareness of the environment and of information presented as messages on a mobile device. In mobile police patrols, officers need to pay attention to their direct environment and stay informed of incidents elsewhere. To prevent unwanted interruption, a context-aware notification system adapts the timing and appearance of incident messages, based on user activity (available, in transit, or busy) and message priority (high, normal, or low). The authors evaluated the benefits and costs of adaptive notification compared to three uniform notification styles (presenting full messages, postponing messages or presenting indicators). Thirty-two trained student participants used a prototype notification system in a controlled mobile patrol task. The results were validated in a follow-up study with twenty-four police officers.

Windows environments are growing increasingly popular in both academia and industry. Despite the proliferation of these software programs, however, means of systematically determining an individual's experience in a Windows environment are seemingly non-existent. To address this problem we have developed the Windows Computer Experience Questionnaire (WCEQ). This paper describes the questionnaire and the procedures used to establish reliability and validity for the WCEQ. The WCEQ was administered to 82 participants and then re-administered 1-week later. The questionnaire was easy and quick to administer. It also provided a range of results reflecting the inherent diversity in computer experience of the group studied. Split-half and test-retest results indicated that the WCEQ has high internal consistency and is a reliable tool for measuring a user's knowledge of Windows environments. Furthermore, initial validity studies in a follow-up study provided evidence of the instrument's construct validity.

This research is a follow-up study from previous research on strategic planning to establish Ma’had Aly Pondok Quran in Bandung. This research focused on the curriculum and facilities in Ma’had Aly Pondok Quran in Bandung. Using descriptive qualitative field research, the data is collected through documentation, observation, and interviews. The data is analyzed utilizing strategic factors analysis summary. The subject of the research is the head of Ma'had Aly Pondok Quran, the Muhafizh, the person in charge of the development of human resources and infrastructure of Ma'had Aly Pondok Quran, also twenty Ma’had Aly students. The results showed that the standard content of the material in Ma'had Aly curriculum still needed to be added and adjusted to support the legality of Ma'had Aly. The material that needs to be added in Ma'had Aly Pondok Quran is Manhaj Da'wah, Tafsir, Ulumul Qur'an and its branches of knowledge, Tauhid, Worship Fiqh, Computers, English, and Research Methodology. Whereas the infrastructure facilities of Ma'had Aly Pondok Quran which are the priority in development are pesantren dormitories for man and classes to support learning.

Introduction: Recent research has highlighted an increased rate of co-morbidity between the neurodevelopmental-behavioral disorder of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a variety of psychiatric disorders, such as mood disorders or bipolar disorder (BD). The etiology and clinical course of BD are considered to be determined by both genetic and environmental factors, either aggravating or improving. Aim: This follow-up study of an adolescent aimed to clarify the co-morbidity between ADHD and BD. We also discuss the controversies surrounding the two diagnoses in younger populations and describe several aspects of concern regarding diagnosis, differential diagnosis, therapeutic planning/intervention, and prognosis. Methods: Reporting of a two-year follow-up study of a bipolar 15-year-old female patient with a previous diagnosis of ADHD during childhood. Results: Despite the occurrence of major risk factors, such as early onset and positive family history, the patient’s condition rapidly remitted with medication, without relapse and/or rehospitalization during the following two years, due to the stability of her cooperation, and support of a stable and caring familial environment. Early diagnosis of BD and differential diagnoses of ADHD are considered crucial protective factors leading to an appropriate planning of treatment. In addition, parental involvement and empathic attitude towards the patient supported the latter to cooperate and comply with the treatment, enhancing positive outcomes and stability. Conclusions: Research is required into the reliability and validity of diagnostic protocols and criteria for BD in children and adolescents, and also into the development of individualized therapeutic planning.
