This research presents the Strategic Change Management index, an indicator measuring the level of maturity of organizations to address processes of organizational change. At present, there is no other available indicator that fulfills this function. The index is built using the information provided from an instrument (questionnaire) specially created for this purpose. The instrument was applied to a sample of 151 companies, mostly Chilean. Studies about reliability (Cronbach’s α, hierarchical ω coefficients, among others), and instrument validity (second-order confirmatory factor analysis and retrospective validity) are presented. These studies show that the instrument has good psychometric properties. The results show that the degree of maturity of the companies comprising the sample to face change processes is low: 87% of the companies have a basic, initial, or amateur level of maturity; 13% have a professional level; and only one company had an expert level. More validity studies are required. However, the absence of a similar available instrument restrains the realization of more in-depth validity studies at this time.

We propose a new definition of inconspicuous consumption (IC) as an individual disposition and present an instrument for measuring this variable. The article describes the successive stages of the construction of the Inconspicuous Consumption Scale (ICS). The results of a preliminary selection of items and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses have led to the development of an instrument which measures four factors that make up the global ICS: Knowledge, Services, Experiences, and Subtle Brand Signals. Reliability and validity studies carried out in a sample of 1,330 respondents show that the ICS has satisfactory psychometric properties.

Abstract Background Static or motion manual palpation of the low back is commonly used to assess pain location and reproduction in low back pain (LBP) patients. The purpose of this study is to review the reliability and validity of manual palpation used for the assessment of LBP in adults. Method We systematically searched five databases from 2000 to 2019. We critically appraised internal validity of studies using QAREL and QUADAS-2 instruments. We stratified results using best-evidence synthesis. Validity studies were classified according to Sackett and Haynes. Results We identified 2023 eligible articles, of which 14 were low risk of bias. Evidence suggests that reliability of soft tissue structures palpation is inconsistent, and reliability of bony structures and joint mobility palpation is poor. We found preliminary evidence that gluteal muscle palpation for tenderness may be valid in differentiating LBP patients with and without radiculopathy. Conclusion Reliability of manual palpation tests in the assessment of LBP patients varies greatly. This is problematic because these tests are commonly used by manual therapists and clinicians. Little is known about the validity of these tests; therefore, their clinical utility is uncertain. High quality validity studies are needed to inform the clinical use of manual palpation tests.

The state of Hawai‘i has a linguistically and culturally diverse population that recognizes Hawaiian and English as official languages. Working with the community, the state established the Hawaiian Language Immersion Program, Ka Papahana Kaiapuni Hawai‘i (Kaiapuni), to support and promote the study of Hawaiian language, culture, and history. Kaiapuni students are historically marginalized test-takers and had been assessed using instruments that were culturally and linguistically insensitive, contained construct irrelevant variance, or had inadequate psychometric properties (U. S. Department of Education, 2006; Kaawaloa, 2014). In response, the Hawai‘i State Department of Education and the University of Hawai‘i developed the Kaiapuni Assessment of Educational Outcomes (KĀʻEO), which engages Kaiapuni students in technically rigorous, Native language assessments. This article details the theoretical framework of the KĀʻEO program, which includes traditional validity studies to build content and construct validity that support the assessment’s use for accountability. However, the KĀʻEO team recognized that additional evidence was needed because the KĀʻEO theory of action is grounded in principles of community use of assessment scores to advance cultural and language revitalization. The article provides an example of one of the validity studies that the team conducted to build evidence in support of cultural and content validity.

Background and Aims: Achieving the correct diagnosis and therapeutic success in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) depends on the patient‘s self-assessment. Therefore, valid and reliable patient-reported questionnaires are very important. When designing such measurement tools, researchers should focus on their validity, reliability, sensitivity, and, applicability. The reflux disease questionnaire (RDQ) largely meets these important requirements. This study aims to examine The RDQ’s psychometric characteristics for the Turkish society (RDQ TR ) and its validity in symptoms’ evaluation. Methods: The sample of this study comprised 81 patients who were admitted to our institution, GERD study group outpatient clinic. The data collection forms used in the study were the case report forms and RDQ. Three weeks after the first interview, 30 patients were re-interviewed by the phone and the RDQ was re-administered. For the validity studies of the scale, language validity, content validity, and construct validity studies were used, and for the reliability studies, internal consistency and test-retest reliability methods were used. Results: The content validity index of form was 0.95 (0.93-0.98). The performed factor analysis indicated 3 factors with an eigenvalue over 1.0. Those factors were responsible for 77.66% of the variance. The Cronbach‘s alpha values were 0.88 for regurgitation sub-dimension, 0.91 for dyspepsia sub-dimension, 0.86 for heartburn sub-dimension, and 0.92 overall. Intraclass correlation coefficient value of the scale was 0.94. Conclusions: Our study highlights that the RDQ TR is reliable, valid, and responsive to change in Turkey patients with GERD symptomatology.

Objective: to evaluate the quality of the validation process performed in studies that developed simulated clinical scenarios for teaching and learning in nursing. Methods: the researchers conducted two steps: an integrative review in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Educational Resources Information Center databases; and the validation assessment, using the validated tool (Quality Assessment for Validity Studies). Results: 561 studies were identified, six of which comprised the sample, primary, methodological, available electronically and in full. Most showed good validation quality by meeting almost all the criteria required by the tool. Conclusion: the validation of studies on clinical scenarios was able to support reliable evidence for adoption in teaching through simulation in nursing.

This study aims to analyze anxiety, guilt and embarrassment changes of university students who do and who do not do sports depending on some socio-demographic factors. In the study conducted with university students, a total of 585 university students are included, 307 of students whom do sports and 278 of students who do not do sports. “Beck Anxiety Inventory”, developed by Beck et al. (1988) and adapted to Turkish and conducted reliability and validity studies by Ulusoy et al. (1998), has been used to determine depression levels and “Guilt-Embarrassment Scale” developed by Şahin and Şahin (1992) has been used to determine the levels of guilt and embarrassment. Independent sample t test for paired comparison, One-way ANOVA for multiple comparisons, Tukey HSD test to determine the source of difference were used. In the study, Cronbach's Alpha value has been determined as .75 for Beck Anxiety Inventory and .82 for Guilt-Embarrassment Scale. As a result, it has been determined that changes depending on doing sports and gender factors are statistically significant (p < 0.05). No statistical change has been observed depending on shelter and income factors. In the light of these findings, it has been found that anxiety scores are higher in males while guilt scores are higher in females. It is thought that this result can be caused by the physical and mental changes between male and female, as well as the socio-cultural structure, the social role and status given to female and male. It can also be said that the sport positively affects anxiety and does not have any effect on guilt and embarrassment.
