The effective use of an interactive whiteboard (IWB) in teacher-education institutions depends strongly on student teachers’ intention of using it. Despite the recent surge in published research on the widespread applications for IWB in teaching and learning, few have developed a model to elucidate the elements which contribute to student teachers’ intention to use IWB. The aim of this study was to develop a model which demonstrates the variables that affect student teachers’ intentions and which also explain their interactions. The proposed IWB intention to use research model is based on prominent educational technology acceptance theories and models. Five variables (technology self-efficacy, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and intention to use) were selected to build a model for this study. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used for this study to identify the predictors and the model fit. The proposed model has accounted for 47.6% of the variance in the intention to use IWB.

To analyze the influence factors of hyperspectral remote sensing data processing, and quantitatively evaluate the application capability of hyperspectral data, a combined evaluation model based on the physical process of imaging and statistical analysis was proposed. The normalized average distance between different classes of ground cover is selected as the evaluation index. The proposed model considers the influence factors of the full radiation transmission process and processing algorithms. First- and second-order statistical characteristics (mean and covariance) were applied to calculate the changes for the imaging process based on the radiation energy transfer. The statistical analysis was combined with the remote sensing process and the application performance, which consists of the imaging system parameters and imaging conditions, by building the imaging system and processing models. The season (solar zenith angle), sensor parameters (ground sampling distance, modulation transfer function, spectral resolution, spectral response function, and signal to noise ratio), and number of features were considered in order to analyze the influence factors of the application capability level. Simulated and real data collected by Hymap in the Dongtianshan area (Xinjiang Province, China), were used to estimate the proposed model’s performance in the application of mineral mapping. The predicted application capability of the proposed model is consistent with the theoretical analysis.

The study examines whether English and Indonesian research articles written by their respective native speaker scholars are significantly different from each other in terms of the number of hedges used. Hedges are rhetorical features (e.g. may, perhaps, suggest) used to withhold complete commitment to the truth-value of propositions. The ultimate goal of the study is to examine whether Indonesian scholars need special instruction in hedging propositions. The assumption underlying the present study is that when they write in English, Indonesian scholars will deploy rhetorical features inherent in the Indonesian academic writing. Statistical analysis on 52 Applied Linguistics research articles (26 from each language) reveals that English research articles contain significantly more hedges than their Indonesian counterparts (Mann-Whitney U = 68.00, n1 = n2 = 26, p < 0.05, r = - 0.69), suggesting that Indonesian scholars are indeed in need of instruction that specifically focuses on hedging propositions in English.

This paper aims to study what factors affect the adoption of online trading towards brokers in Hong Kong. By using the adoption model, Decomposed Version Theory of Planned Behavior (DTPB), we identify the factors that affect brokers towards online trading. A hypothesized model has been proposed to design the questionnaire. A statistical analysis has been conducted to investigate whether the attributes, variables, and belief structure of the proposed model correlated with each other or not. After such analysis, the factors that influenced brokers' behavior have been identified as well as the strengths of their relationships. Such results are very helpful to support the planning of related parties in launching Internet trading.

In this paper we propose a multifractal traffic model that is based on a multiplicative cascade presenting specific multiplier distributions in each cascade stage. In the proposed model, the multipliers are obtained through the estimate of their probability densities found in real network traffic by using Kernel and Acceptance/Rejection methods. Statistical analysis and queueing behavior study were carried out for the model validation. Furthermore, we verify the model performance in capturing the traffic trace characteristics in comparison to other multifractal models.

Cloud services are proposed for real-time data acquisition, data classification, data processing and decision making, which are highly interconnected services for effective condition monitoring of electrical machines. The proposed Software as a Service, Storage as a Service and Platform as a Service layers address the challenges of data storage and scalability while making analysis on the cluster of machines in an Industrial Environment. An experimental setup consisting of two DC motors coupled to AC Generator operating at different locations is considered to evolve the proposed model for effective integrated monitoring and decision making. This cloud-based vibration monitoring model provides services for data acquisition from the IoT devices mounted on the shafts of the DC motors, data storage to store the enormous amount of acquired signal data from multiple sensors, data classification of vibration signals for effective statistical analysis to estimate adaptive cluster of thresholds and appropriate decision-making services on demand over the Internet to utilize the reliable service of the machines in a persistent way. The computational engine will do inherent statistical analysis of the vibration signals to estimate the cluster of thresholds adaptive to various operating conditions. The services have been deployed without any limitation in a cloud environment and the industrial applications can share information using the deployed services from anywhere on demand basis. The deployed cloud service for the enhanced statistical classification algorithm eliminates the false identification of failures, which not only increase the availability of machines for intended operations but also reduce the maintenance cost. The resulting threshold values are compared with that of the vibration analysis carried out on the machine beds locally using myRIO for data acquisition in LabVIEW and the proposed model ensures the integrity in appropriate decision making with assured scalability.

The non-point pollution sources represent an increasingly important component of the total pollution balance in the country as a result of a gradual reduction of the pollution load from point sources of surface water pollution. As this pollution component cannot be directly measured, various methods of calculation and modelling are used. The author has developed a new methodology for accurate evaluation of the spatial distribution of the pollution load from a river basin under the form of an empirical grid-based GIS model. The article describes this methodology and its application to the Berounka river basin with the aim to evaluate the spatial distribution of the load of the key pollution parameters.

<span lang="EN-US">As the demand for electricity is shooting exponentially, reliable supply of electrical energy from generation to customer is the challenging task faced by utilities. Though generation and transmission can be maintained at hundred percent reliability, reliability of entire system cannot be assured unless focus is laid on distribution system. Most of the faults are occurring on the distribution system which is directly connected to different customers. Hence, we need to intensify the attention at distribution level. Due to deregulation, private players are evolving in distribution sector which complicates power system data exchange and information integration.   To cope with this scenario, reliability evaluation of distribution system through Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) with feature of interoperability for Bus 2 of RBTS system has been introduced and analyzed using SOAP web services. Simulation is performed by developing a web application in Java and is deployed on the Glass-fish server using JAX-WS. The intent behind this proposed model is to use the internet as the transactional tool and exposing the functionality of the program for reliability evaluation for utilities to use and providing facility of interoperability through standards refinement and integration into profiles.</span>
