The article investigates the semantic identity and intertextual correlation of adjectives used by F. A. Abramov in his story «Wooden horses». The study focuses on the conceptual significance of adjectives in a literary text. The aim of the research was to discover the role of quality-denoting lexemes (qualitative concepts) in the formation of artistic images and expression of the author’s intention on the basis of a linguistic analysis of adjectives. The most active lexico-semantic groups of adjectives are described: time, human character, material, appearance of objects, human physical appearance, colour and light, intellectual assessment, mirative assessment; and proves the role of adjectives in the conceptualization of literaty images. On the basis of quantitative and semantic analysis and also taking into the account the syntagmatic features of adjectives, the important conceptual semantic fields – «Time» and «Man» – are defined. A detailed analysis of the semantics of adjectives helps to ascertain the correlation of conceptually relevant meanings in the text, as well as to bring the reader’s interpretation closer to understanding the author’s intention.

В статье рассматривается взаимообусловленность категорий оценки и оценочности в рамках функционально-семантического анализа художественного текста на материале рассказа Э. Хемингуэя “The Butterfly and the Tank” («Мотылёк и танк»). Феномен оценки исследуется в контексте противительных средств его реализации. Особое внимание уделяется выявлению потенциала оценочности различных противительных единиц лексико-синтаксического уровня, а также роли оценочных конструкций в манифестации авторского замысла. В результате исследования установлено, что противительный союз but, включающий в себя гипотетическую оценку, наряду с противительным союзом and, усиливают оценочность в сочетании с такими элементами лексической противительности, как прямые и контекстуальные антонимы, конструкции-интенсификаторы, средства художественной выразительности (эпитеты, метафоры и т. д.). Выявлено, что противопоставления с союзом and характеризуются меньшей частотностью употребления в сравнении с конструкциями, маркированными союзом but. Причиной этого является очевидное доминирование в этом союзе присоединительной семантики над противительной. Кроме того, выявлено, что противопоставления с различными противительными союзами, дополненные элементами лексической противительности, выражают оценочность в тех случаях, когда этого требует идейное содержание текста. Они интенсифицируют художественную выразительность произведения, подчеркивая основные смыслообразующие оппозиции на уровне образов-символов. The article discusses the interconditionality of the assessment and evaluation categories within the framework of functional-semantic analysis of a literary text. The assessment phenomenon is examined in the context of oppositive means of its realization. Particular attention is given to the detection of evaluation potential of various oppositive units on the lexico-syntactical level as well as to the role of evaluation constructions in the author’s message manifestation. The study establishes that the adversative conjunction but, including hypothetical assessment, along with the adversative conjunction and increase evaluation, together with such elements of lexical oppositivity as direct and contextual antonyms, intensifying constructions, expressive means (epithets, metaphors etc.). It is revealed that oppositions with the conjunction and are characterized by a lower frequency of use compared to constructions, marked with the conjunction but. This is explained by the obvious domination of conjunctive semantics over the oppositive one in the semantic tissue of the conjunction. The study also establishes that oppositions with various adversative conjunctions, supplemented with elements of lexical oppositivity, express evaluation in those cases, when the artistic idea requires it. They intensify the artistic expressiveness of a literary work, emphasizing the main meaningful oppositions on the level of symbolicimages. The paper examines the short story “The Butterfly and the Tank” by E. Hemingway.

В статье впервые рассматривается переведенный на русский язык грузинским поэтом и прозаиком Л.Д. Кипиани текст стихотворения К.Л. Хетагурова «Сидзæргæс» (с осет. ‛Вдоваʼ, ‛Мать сиротʼ, в переводе звучит как «Мать»). Автором исследования представлен лексико-семантический анализ разноязычных текстов (оригинал, перевод), прослеживается степень воспроизведения переводчиком интенций автора. В ходе анализа установлено, что приоритетная для художественного текста функция эстетического воздействия на реципиента достигается Л.Д. Кипиани использованием лексических единиц с близким семантическим значением. Однако передача символики, заложенной К. Хетагуровым в художественных образах, не всегда находит выражение в переводе. Важные для раскрытия идейного замысла художественного текста образы-символы: «æргъæвст халон» (‛закоченелая воронаʼ), «сау айнæг» (‛черный утесʼ), «саударæг ус» (‛носящая траур женщинаʼ) и т.д. остаются вне поле зрения реципиента. Не всегда автор перевода преследует цель отразить национально-культурную специфику, заключенную в семантике выражений «зæрдæ къахын», «буц хъæбул», «дудгæ фæбадын», «къона», «гыцци», «лыстæн». В тексте перевода они находят свои русифицированные варианты или не передаются вовсе.Но там, где переводчик отходит от содержания подлинника, создается оригинальный текст в той же художественной манере, близкой к авторской. Основная идея произведения в переводе не теряется: переводчик и на русском языке демонстрирует мытарства матери сирот. Л. Кипиани в целом удалось изобразить картину жизни осетин конца XIX – начала ХХ в., представленную К.Л. Хетагуровым в стихотворении «Сидзæргæс». For the first time, the article considers the translation into Russian by L.D. Kipiani, the Georgian poet and prosaic, of the text of the poem by K.L. Khetagurova "Sidzærgæs" (‛Widowʼ, ‛Mother of Orphansʼ, translated as “Mother”). The author of the study presents a lexical and semantic analysis of multilingual texts (original and translation), traces the degree with which the translator reproduces the author's intentions. In the course of the analysis, it was found that the priority function of aesthetic impact on the recipient for a literary text is achieved by L.D. Kipiani by using lexical units with similar semantic meaning. However, the transmission of the symbolism laid down by K. Khetagurov in artistic images does not always find expression in translation. Symbolic images that are important for the disclosure of the ideological concept of a literary text: "ærgævst halon" (a freezing raven), "sau ainæg" (black rock), "saudaræg us" (a woman in mourning), etc. remain out of sight of the recipient. The author of the translation does not always pursue the goal of reflecting the national-cultural specifics contained in the semantics of the expressions "zarda kahyn", "buts kh'abul", "dudgk fabadyn", "qona", "gyzzi", "lystun". In the text of the translation, they find their Russified versions or are not transmitted at all. But where the translator deviates from the contents of the original, the created text is, nevertheless, in the artistic manner, close to the author's. The main idea of ​​the work is not lost in the translation: in the Russian translation the hardships and ordeals of the mother of the orphans are also vivdly conveyed. L. Kipiani as a whole managed to depict a picture of the life of the Ossetians of the late 19th - early 20th centuries, presented by K.L. Khetagurov in his poem "Sidzærgæs" ("Mother of Orphans").

This article describes the concept of “romantic communication”, examines the linguocultural specificity of spatial behavior in the instances of romantic communication in Russian, English and Spanish linguocultures. It is demonstrated that the situations of romantic communication in the indicated linguocultures are characterized by certain spatial movements of the communicants depending on their communicative intentions. The relevance of the selected topic is substantiated by globalization processes and rapid building of contacts between Russia, Great Britain and Spain, which, in turn, bonds these linguocultures and makes requires their in-depth study in order to understand the peculiarities of representation of spatial behavior in the course of interpersonal communication. It is worth noting that there are different approaches towards studying the romantic discourse; assessment is given to the role of the kinesic components therein. The question on similarity and divergence of the proxemic components in romantic communication in the Russian, English and Spanish linguocultures remains debatable, and draws particular interests of the experts in the field of linguistics and linguoculturology, as well as the representatives of business spheres dealing with Russia, Great Britain and Spain in one or another way; it allows to better understand the purpose and use of spatial components in the communicative aspect. The scientific novelty of this research consists in determination of linguistic peculiarities of representation of spatial behavior in the instances of romantic communication in the Russian, English and Spanish linguocultures. As a result of the conducted analysis, the author identifies the key main verbal, nominative, and adjective constructions that represent proxemic components of romantic communication in the English, Russian, and Spanish languages. It is also underlined that the characteristic features of the romantic discourse are related not only to kinesics, but also proxemics, which gives a better perspective on the motives of behavioral specificity of the actors of romantic communication, as well as helps to identify the level of their closeness through detailed analysis of linguistic saturation of the literary text.

The role of Ernest Seton-Thompson as a writer who started the genre of animal short-story and his contribution into the national Canadian literature are discussed in the article. Peculiar features of animal-personages from his short-stories which are close to people were singled out. The peculiarities of the literary translation which aim is to reflect ideas, feelings transforming the author’s images with the help of another language material, the main features that make it different from a classical one were stated. Contemporary scholars who scrutinize this aspect in modern translation studies were found out. The notion of adequacy in the process of a literary text translation, the necessity and strive of the translator to reflect the sense, embodied in artistic images, to preserve genre and style and structural-compositional peculiarities of the original text in the context of comparative analysis of the literary text were noted. The differences between the original text of E.Seton-Thompson’s short-story “The Biography of a Grizzly” and its translation by М.Chukovsky were analyzed in the given article. The translation can be called adequate as some change of content and form of the original text by means of the target language did not impact into general perception of the short-story in its translation. The translator conveys the author’s ideas provoking reader‘s reaction to the story. М.Chukovsky  preserved its content, the system of images and the author’s style and plot identity of the original text. Peculiarities of his translation, main structural-grammar and lexical transformations used in the translation were marked. Among the most frequently used transformation techniques actual division of the sentence, grammar changes, change of the sentence parts, concretization, generalization, addition, omission and antonymic translation are noted.

This article explores the worldview in tales of the Buryat writers. The subject of this research is the role of categories of space and time in the architectonics of artistic image of the world in tales “Call of the Ancestors" by B. Mungonov and “Toonto” by D. Erdyneev. These works have not previously become the object of research in Buryat literary studies from perspective of significance of space-time interrelation. This defines the novelty of this article, and allows revealing other aspects of artistic vision in the works of Buryat writers. The key methods for studying the categories of space and time in a literary text include descriptive, comparative, and mythopoetic. It is demonstrated that the categories of space and time are localized in various artistic images, symbols and meanings, contain the concepts of endlessness, infinity, relativity and discreteness, as well as allow creating a vivid unique palette of artistic vision of the world in tales of the Buryat writers. Analysis is conducted on the artistic architectonics through the prism of correlation between the categories of space and time in tales of B. Mungonov “Call of the Ancestors and Sounds of the Forthcoming” and D. Erdyneev “Toonto”. Peculiarity of the categories of space and time in the artistic picture of Buryat writers is reflected in Eastern outlook upon the world, which is based on the models of cyclicity and substantiality. In the tale of B. Mungonov prevails the category of time. In the artistic worldview, one stems from the other. In the tale of D. Erdyneev “Toonto” dominates the by category of space. Toonto is translated from Buryat as a particular space, birthplace of a man, where him and his ancestors have roots. Tales of B. Mungonov and D. give thoughts on the value of life and chances to repair past mistakes.

The article reveals the essence and specificity of culture as an important component of the spiritual factor of victory. Special attention is paid to the characteristics of fiction. The article substantiates the moral and aesthetic impact on the consciousness of defenders of the Motherland, such works of art as“They fought for the Motherland”,“Leningrad poem”,“Russian character”,“Invasion”, etc. The article describes the significant role of theatrical art, which reveals the moral values of the people and Soviet soldiers. This is reflected in such plays as: “the Front”; “the Guy from our city”; “Once upon a time”, etc. The article substantiates the important role of the spiritual influence of cinema on Soviet people. This influence was realized through artistic images of selfless service to the Motherland, loyalty to military duty. Among these films: “Two fighters”, “Wait for me”, “Front-line friends”. During the war, as the article emphasizes, an important component of the spiritual factor of victory was the musical art. Activities in this area of culture famous musicians:B. Astafiev, S. Prokofiev, D. Shostakovich, A. Alexandrov, V. Soloviev-Sedoy, and others, was implemented in operas, symphonies, cantatas and songs, which by their nature emotional expression differed Patriotic and epic strength. The purpose of the research : to reveal the axiological components, culture of the Russian world, as important components, spiritual factor during the great Patriotic war. Conclusions : the culture of the Russian world at various stages of the great Patriotic War, through a variety of means and forms, actively mobilized all Soviet people to defend the Motherland and defeat Nazi Germany. The spiritual culture of our country and its types, in the course of functioning, during the war, clearly and expressively revealed the idea of patriotism, courage, bravery and heroism, and encouraged the Soviet people, the soldiers of the red Army, to achieve a great Victory.

Summary: The article deals with the analysis of the interpretational field of the basic lexical units which represent the meaning of the concept “woman” in English and Kyrgyz languages and cultures. Comparative – contrastive analytical data of the most frequently used in both languages variants of the interpretation of the concept “woman” have been given. The semantic fields of nuclear and nearnuclear meanings of the lexical units, transforming the notion of “woman” in English and Kyrgyz languages and also the place and role of these notions in cultures and philosophy of the nations on the basis of mentality and traditional values have been studied and described. The situations of the use of this or that variant of the meaning of lexical unit. A comparative study of the definitions of the word “woman’ in English and Kyrgyz languages have been given. This article provides an overview of post-conflict justice (PCJ) as well as a detailed analysis of factors that impede or facilitate the implementation of mechanisms to address the atrocities of a conflict. Grounded in an extensive new dataset, developed over the past three years, covering all conflicts in Africa between 1946 and 2009, we extend previous research by including empirical testing of previously untested assumptions and variables impacting PCJ, most notably, the role of power, politics, economics, and geo-strategic interests at the state and international political levels as well as combining previously tested variables amongst and between each other. Further, the aspects of PCJ, including conflicts where mechanisms were not deployed are included in the analysis along with those coded as symbolic in nature. We conclude by discussing the pragmatic issues associated with testing the concept of realpolitik and policy implications based on our analysis.

Introduction. The objective necessity of the appearance of this code of laws for the pharmaceu-tical industry is shown. The proofs of the readiness of all branches of pharmacy to develop the text of the Pharmacopoeia, taking into account modern international requirements for scientific and practical activities in the development, manufacture and production of medicines, are presented.Text. The work presents the history of the creation of the VII edition of the State Pharmacopoeia of the USSR. The sequence of steps for the formation of the Pharmacopoeia Commission, the stages of its activities for the preparation of the updated text of the Pharmacopoeia is described, a detailed analysis of the prepared text is given in comparison with the current Pharmacopoeia of the VI edition (1910). Various points of view of experts on the content of the main text are cited, which served as the basis for the new document. The role of domestic scien-tists-pharmacists in the development and publication of the VII edition of the State Pharmacopoeia of the USSR is evaluated.Conclusion. The role of the Pharmacopoeia Commission in the timely development of the text of the new edition of the State Pharmacopoeia is emphasized. The fact of its wide discussion among experts and the novelty of the approach, which gave a powerful impetus to the development of the entire industry, are noted.
