The Learning that orienting to the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) can be designed by the teacher for the learning process activities or in the preparation of evaluation questions. HOTS-oriented problems are needed so that students are accustomed and trained to solve problems that are not only memorizing, understanding, and applying concepts. Teachers have obtained much training in making mathematical problems. However, the training specifically in making HOTS-oriented mathematics problems is lacking. Therefore, the training needs to be held to cause HOTS-oriented mathematics problems. The purpose of community service activities is to guide junior high school mathematics teachers in preparing HOTS-oriented mathematics problems. The activity has been carried out in collaboration with the Mathematics MGMP of the Banjar District. The number of participants who attended the activity was 46 people. In summary, the stages of activities include preparing material as guidance material for making HOTS-oriented problems and implementing mentoring. This community service activity has produced 50 HOTS-oriented mathematics problems. The problem categories are based on the HOTS level; 39 items (78%) included analysis problems, and 11 items (22%) included evaluation problems.

Since Indonesia participated in the Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) and the Trend in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMMS) in 2000, the mathematics test results have never been satisfactory. Even until 2018, the results were still unsatisfactory. In other words, the test results are stagnant. To improve the results of these tests, the government has issued a policy of minimum competency assessment (AKM) or known as the Computer-Based National Assessment (ANBK). One of the tests in it is the provision of questions that are included in the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) category, as are usually given on the PISA and TIMMS tests. Training for teachers in HOTS-integrated learning tools is needed to prepare schools or madrasas to face HOTS-integrated learning. The service partners are all teachers at MA Assawiyah Pringgasela Timur. The community service is on 7-8 August 2021, which 17 teachers attend. The method used is lecture and demonstration. The result of community service activities is that MA Assawiyah teachers gain knowledge about the basic concepts of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), implementation of HOTS in learning planning, and measuring HOTS in students. This can be seen from the learning tools that have been compiled into the HOTS category.

Asking activity is a form of class interaction that needs attention. With the asking activity, it can increase the questioner’s knowledge. This study aimed to identify the questions form that filed by teachers and students in the classroom following the framework of thinking mandated in the revised Bloom Taxonomy and to explore the problems faced by lecturers in implementing the HOTS-based learning process. This study used qualitative methods by applying observation sheets and interview to collect data. The data analysis of this research used analysis of domain, taxonomy, component, and theme. The results of this study indicate that lecturers and students have applied the principles of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) from core learning activities to final learning activities. The form of the question is in level C4 (Analyzing), C5 (Evaluating), and C6 (Creating), but in the form of Creating questions, students still need to increase the frequency in asking. The problem faced is the difficulty in stimulating students who can answer and ask questions at level C6 in HOTS. Therefore, lecturers also try to overcome these problems by implementing strategies in the learning process.

Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are needed to determine the student's ability to construct an answer. In this study, researchers analyzed the higher-order thinking skills of students of the Mathematics Education Study Program in constructing one of the test answers, namely constructing a binary representation of real numbers in the Introduction to Real Analysis course. Fifty-two students taking the Introduction to Real Analysis course in the odd semester 2020/2021 are the subjects of this research. Data was collected using a test that was analyzed based on the indicator of higher-order thinking ability created (C6). It was revealed that the students' higher-order thinking skills were in the sufficient category. This means that most students have not been able to construct and analyze information into the right strategy. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for the lecture process where students are familiarized with giving HOTS-oriented questions during exams and practice questions for lectures to help develop higher-order thinking skills. Keywords: Bloom's taxonomy-C6; higher order thinking skill; binary representation Kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi diperlukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan mahasiswa mengkonstruksi suatu jawaban. AbstractAim of the study is to implement Geomatics learning innovations by applying the scaffolding Problem-Based Learning integrated model to improve the student’s Vocational HOTS. The method applied was qualitative with the participation of 2 groups of students practicing consisting of 4 people each. The level of cognitive mastery was measured with the Bloom taxonomy (C1-C6). The results of the investigation showed that the integrated model effectively formed students’ Vocational HOT Skill as a group in 3 stages. The first stage of learning focused on mastering the operation of equipment needed in practice (C2-C3 and partly C4). In the second stage, the students have mastered most of the cognitive analysis and accuracy of practical data (C4-C5) and in the third stage, they made practiced steps more effectively and successfully correlated to the Indonesian National Standards (SNI) level (C6) at the moderately accurate. The application of the Scaffolding Problem-Based Learning model has a positive impact that students get21st-century learning with the main characteristics (4C), consisting: Communication, Collaboration, (Critical thinking, and problem-solving), and Creative thinking. Learning outcomes enriched with higher-order thinking skills can be seen when students take advanced Geomatics material, They already work with groups to map the area more independently
