Since Indonesia participated in the Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) and the Trend in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMMS) in 2000, the mathematics test results have never been satisfactory. Even until 2018, the results were still unsatisfactory. In other words, the test results are stagnant. To improve the results of these tests, the government has issued a policy of minimum competency assessment (AKM) or known as the Computer-Based National Assessment (ANBK). One of the tests in it is the provision of questions that are included in the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) category, as are usually given on the PISA and TIMMS tests. Training for teachers in HOTS-integrated learning tools is needed to prepare schools or madrasas to face HOTS-integrated learning. The service partners are all teachers at MA Assawiyah Pringgasela Timur. The community service is on 7-8 August 2021, which 17 teachers attend. The method used is lecture and demonstration. The result of community service activities is that MA Assawiyah teachers gain knowledge about the basic concepts of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), implementation of HOTS in learning planning, and measuring HOTS in students. This can be seen from the learning tools that have been compiled into the HOTS category.

Pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) dapat dirancang guru untuk kegiatan proses pembelajaran atau dalam penyusunan soal evaluasi. Soal yang berorientasi pada HOTS diperlukan agar siswa terbiasa dan terlatih untuk menyelesaikan soal yang tidak hanya bersifat hafalan dan pemahaman, maupun penerapan konsep. Banyak penyuluhan atau pelatihan yang telah diperoleh guru dalam membuat soal matematika. Meskipun demikian, pelatihan yang secara spesifik untuk membuat soal matematika yang berorientasi HOTS sangat kurang bahkan belum pernah mereka ikuti. Oleh karena itu, perlu diadakan pelatihan untuk membuat soal matematika yang berorientasi HOTS. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) adalah membimbing guru matematika SMP dalam menyusun soal matematika yang berorientasi HOTS. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan bekerjasama dengan MGMP Matematika Kabupaten Banjar. Jumlah peserta yang hadir pada saat kegiatan ada 46 orang. Secara ringkas, tahapan kegiatan meliputi menyiapkan materi sebagai bahan pembimbingan pembuatan soal berorientasi HOTS dan melaksanakan pembimbingan. Kegiatan PKM ini telah menghasilkan 50 buah soal matematika yang berorientasi HOTS. Kategori soal berdasarkan level HOTS, 39 buah (78%) termasuk soal analisis dan 11 buah (22%) termasuk soal evaluasi.The Learning that orienting to the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) can be designed by the teacher for the learning process activities or in the preparation of evaluation questions. HOTS-oriented problems are needed so that students are accustomed and trained to solve problems that are not only memorizing, understanding, and applying concepts. Teachers have obtained much training in making mathematical problems. However, the training specifically in making HOTS-oriented mathematics problems is lacking. Therefore, the training needs to be held to cause HOTS-oriented mathematics problems. The purpose of community service activities is to guide junior high school mathematics teachers in preparing HOTS-oriented mathematics problems. The activity has been carried out in collaboration with the Mathematics MGMP of the Banjar District. The number of participants who attended the activity was 46 people. In summary, the stages of activities include preparing material as guidance material for making HOTS-oriented problems and implementing mentoring. This community service activity has produced 50 HOTS-oriented mathematics problems. The problem categories are based on the HOTS level; 39 items (78%) included analysis problems, and 11 items (22%) included evaluation problems.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengkaji proses pengembangan, kelayakan, dan respons dari peserta didik terhadap pengembangan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills pada kelas XII Akuntansi Keuangan dan Lembaga mata pelajaran akuntansi keuangan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 2 Madiun. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada semester genap kelas XII Akuntansi Keuangan dan Lembaga dengan jumlah 25 peserta didik. Model pengembangan penelitian yang digunakan yakni model 4D (Define, Design, Development and Dissemination). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, angket atau kuesioner, dokumentasi dan tes hasil respons peserta didik. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah tingkat kelayakan berdasarkan penilaian pengesahan dari ahli materi, kebahasaan, dan desain grafis mendapatkan skor nilai 87%, kategori sangat layak untuk digunakan. Aspek yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan kelayakan diambil dari aspek materi, aspek kebahasaan dan aspek media (desain grafis). Tingkat respons peserta didik dinilai berdasarkan 4 komponen, yakni komponen isi, materi, penyajian dan bahasa, serta mendapatkan kriteria penilaian “Sangat Menarik” untuk digunakan. AbstrakThis study aims to analyze and study the development process, feasibility, and response of students to the development of Student Worksheets based on Higher Order Thinking Skills in class XII Financial Accounting and Institutions of financial accounting subjects at 2 Madiun Vocational High School. This research was conducted in the even semester of class XII Financial Accounting and Institutions with a total of 25 students. The research development model used is the 4D model (Define, Design, Development and Dissemination). Data collection is done by observation, questionnaire or questionnaire, documentation and test results of students' responses. The results of this study are the level of eligibility based on the assessment of endorsement by experts in material, linguistic, and graphic design score of 87%, the category is very feasible to use. The aspects used to obtain eligibility are taken from the material aspects, linguistic aspects and media aspects (graphic design). Student response rates are assessed based on 4 components, namely the components of content, material, presentation and language, and get an assessment criteria "Very Attractive" to use.

The recent application of Content and Language Integrated Learning programs in higher education provides an extensive area for research due to the quick implementation of English as the medium of instruction for university programs, as well as to the need of university students around the world to communicate through English and to try different learning strategies and methodologies than the ones they used to work with. This study aimed to estimate the extent to which the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program at the University of Cuenca designed for students who wish to become EFL teachers complies with the principles of the Content and Language Integrated Learning approach. The 121 participants of this study were students from the fourth, fifth, and seventh semesters of the program. A general proficiency English test was administered to these students; some writing assignments to evaluate the development of Higher Order Thinking Skills were considered; and a survey to inquire about students’ perceptions on the development of language, content, and Higher Order Thinking Skills in their content subject classes was also applied. The findings revealed that 52% of the students are between A1 and A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; this means that they do not have the necessary linguistic conditions to take content subjects. It seems that the parameters teachers used to plan their classes do not consider the three dimensions of this approach (content, language, and procedures); therefore, students are not developing these dimensions simultaneously.

This study overall develops models/learning tools for higher order thinking mathematics using the IMPROVE method which is valid, practical and effective using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) model. However, specifically in this paper, the researcher reveals the other side of the development results of these learning tools, namely the development and obstacles faced by students in increasing higher-order thinking skills (Higher-Order-Thinking). Therefore, the specific objective of this study is to determine the development trend of students' higher order thinking skills and the difficulties encountered during learning. The research instruments were student on-task activity sheets, student activity observation sheets, formative tests and learning outcomes tests. The test was conducted on 66 students of class X SMAN 3 and SMAN 5 Banda Aceh as samples. The test results show that the mathematics learning device is valid, practical and effective in accordance with predetermined product criteria. The tendency for the development of high-order thinking skills (HOTS) of students in formative exercises (T1 and T2) moved up and the Learning Outcomes Test was good, on average 72%. The difficulties faced by students are dominant in indicators of creation and evaluation. The implication of this study is that higher order thinking mathematics learning model with the IMPROVE method and metacognitive strategies can be used for class X SMA students. Abstrak Secara keseluruhan studi ini melakukan pengembangan model/perangkat pembelajaran matematika berpikir tingkat tinggi dengan metode IMPROVE yang valid, praktis dan efektif menggunakan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). Namun secara khusus dalam tulisan ini, peneliti mengungkapkan sisi lain dari hasil pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran tersebut yaitu perkembangan dan hambatan yang dihadapi siswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (Higher-Order-Thinking). Oleh sebab itu, tujuan khusus dari studi ini adalah untuk mengetahui kecenderungan perkembangan kemampuan berpikir tinggkat tinggi siswa dan kesulitan yang dihadapi selama pembelajaran. Instrumen penelitian adalah lembar aktivitas on task siswa, lembar pengamatan aktivitas siswa, tes formatif dan tes hasil belajar. Ujicoba dilakukan pada siswa kelas X SMAN 3 dan SMAN 5 Banda Aceh sebanyak 66 orang sebagai sampel. Hasil ujicoba menunjukkan, perangkat pembelajaran matematika tersebut telah valid, praktis dan efektif sesuai dengan kriteria produk yang telah ditetapkan. Kecenderungan perkembangan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) siswa pada latihan formatif (T1 dan T2) bergerak naik dan Tes Hasil Belajar kategori baik, rata-rata 72%. Kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dominan pada indikator kreasi dan evaluasi. Implikasi dari studi ini adalah model pembelajaran matematika berpikir tingkat tinggi dengan metode IMPROVE dan strategi metakognitif  telah dapat digunakan untuk siswa kelas X SMA. This study was conducted to identify learning requirements, objective condition, and learning design of academic writing based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) approach which took in Language and Arts Faculty in Jakarta State University. It used qualitative, quantitative approach and ground method with the procedure includes conducting initial research (pre-development), designing academic writing learning design, examining and revising the result of academic writing learning design and effectiveness examination. The result showed that the requirements of academic writing learning indicate a gap between student’s requirement and learning situation. Afterward, the researcher also conducted the second research to resolve the condition. The second research was learning tools development in the form of semester lecture program plan, unit learning plan and teaching material description. After conducting the effectiveness examination, it was proven that academic writing learning based in HOTS is effective. Thus, the result of this study was recommended for academic writing process in university.

AbstrakKemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mengajarkan siswa untuk mampu mengaplikasikan kemampuan yang mereka miliki dalam menghadapi permasalahan yang ada dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) merupakan suatu kemampuan yang erat kaitannya dengan penalaran yang bukan hanya sekedar mengingat kembali, ataupun menyatakan kembali, kemampuan ini menitik beratkan pada kemampuan untuk menganalisis, membuat keputusan yang tepat dan memecahkan suatu masalah. Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan ditemukan permasalahan guru belum terlatih mengembangkan soal-soal yang berorientasi HOTS pada muatan IPA, guru masih kesulitan memahai soal soal berdasarkan kategori tingkatan kognitif siswa sesuai dengan taksonomi bloom terbaru. Untuk mengembangkan kemampuan guru dalam menyususn soal-soal berbasis HOTS maka diperlukan pelatihan yang dapat mengaktifkan guru dalam membuat soal-soal yang berorientasi HOTS. Pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat, dalam bentuk kegiatan pelatihan, diskusi,praktik dan monitoring serta evalusi. Pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan dengan mitra kelompok guru gugus Pandanaran Dabin IV UPTD Semarang Tengah yang bertempat di SDN Pekunden jalan Pandanaran 1 No.28 Pekunden Peserta terdiri dari guru-guru se-gugus Pandanaran sejumlah 50 peserta. Tingkat antusiasme dalam mengikuti kegiatan pengabdian sangatlah tinggi. Adapun materi yang diberikan saat pelatihan meliputi Pengertian HOTS, Karakteristik HOTS, Penyusunan soal-soal muatan IPA berbasis HOTS dan praktik membuat soal-soal berbasis HOTS. Kegiatan pengabdian berlangsung selama 2 bulan pada bulan Juli sampai Agustus 2019 dimulai dari observasi ke lokasi pengabdian, identifikasi masalah sampai dengan pelatihan. Dari kegiatan pengabdian yang sudah dilaksanakan ada harapan dari pihak mitra untuk menindaklanjuti kegiatan ini dengan kegiatan pelatihan penyusunan soal yang tidak hanya terfokus pada muatan IPA saja tetapi pada �muatan pelajaran yang lain.Kata kunci: Higher Order Thinking Skills; IPA; kelompok kerja guru�AbstractHigher-order thinking skills teach students to be able to apply the abilities they have in dealing with problems that exist in everyday life. Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is an ability that is closely related to reasoning that is not merely recalling, or restating, this ability focuses on the ability to analyze, make the right decision and solve a problem. Based on observations made, it is found that teachers have not been trained in developing HOTS-oriented questions on science content, teachers are still having trouble understanding questions based on students' cognitive level according to the latest bloom taxonomy. To develop the teacher's ability to prepare HOTS-based questions, training is needed to enable the teacher to create HOTS-oriented questions. Implementation of community service, in the form of training, discussion, practice and monitoring and evaluation activities. Community service is carried out with teacher groups of Pandanaran Dabin IV UPTD Semarang Tengan group located at SDN Pekunden, Pandanaran 1 street No.28 Pekunden -Pandanaran group of 50 participants. The level of enthusiasm in participating in community service activities is very high. The material provided during the training included Understanding HOTS, HOTS Characteristics, Compilation of HOTS-based science content questions and the practice of making HOTS-based questions. Community service activities last for 2 months in July to August 2019 starting from observation to the location of service, problem identification to training. From the service activities that have been carried out there is an expectation from the partners to follow up on this activity with the training activities of the preparation of questions not only focused on the content of science but in the grasp of other lessons.Keywords: Higher Order Thinking Skills; natural sciences; teacher working groups

Abstract: The low HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) students based on the results of PISA 2015 in mathematics shows the characteristics of mathematics learning are still familiar with Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) questions. Based on this, HOTS math problems need to be developed at the Vocational high school education level. The difficulty of the teacher in applying HOTS questions is due to the lack of information obtained by the teacher and the lack of sharing activities to compile HOTS questions. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide training for vocational mathematics teachers in making HOTS questions. This community service activity is in the form of training for Mathematics Teachers of Denpasar Development Vocational School and involving all teachers of mathematics subjects. The partner in this dedication activity named I Made Surya Mega Widiastha, S.Pd is one of the mathematics teachers at the Denpasar Development Vocational School. The implementation of community service activities is carried out through three stages, namely planning, implementation, and reflection. Based on the results of the questionnaire given to the partners and to the school, the results of the service have been able to run well.            Keywords: Dedication, Mathematics, Training, Hots  Abstrak: Rendahnya HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) siswa berdasarkan hasil PISA 2015 dalam matematika  menunjukkan karakteristik pembelajaran matematika masih terbiasa dengan soal-soal Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berupa pelatihan kepada guru matematika SMK Pembangunan Denpasar dan melibatkan semua guru mata pelajaran matematika. Mitra pada kegiatan pengabdian ini bernama I Made Surya Mega Widiastha, S.Pd merupakan salah satu guru matematika di SMK Pembangunan Denpasar. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, implementasi, dan refleksi. Pada abad 21 diperlukan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTs) yang mencakup kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan interpretasi, analisis, inferensi, kelancaran dan orisinalitas siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal pola dan barisan bilangan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif dan subjek sebanyak 40 siswa yang terdiri 19 siswa SMPN 5 Bantan dan 21 Siswa MTS Al-Huda. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa (1) tes tertulis yang berorientasikan HOTs dan (2) pedoman wawancara.  Hasil tes menunjukkan rata-rata HOTs siswa SMPN 5 Bantan (49,34) dan MTS Al-Huda (45,12) berkategori cukup.  Skor tiap indikator HOTs untuk siswa SMPN 5 Bantan diketahui bahwa interpretasi= 48,68, analisis= 40,13, inferensi= 64,47, kelancaran= 52,68 dan orisinalitas= 40,79 sedangkan untuk siswa MTs Al-Huda adalah interpretasi= 61,18, analisis= 40,79, inferensi= 53,57, kelancaran= 38,16 dan orisinalitas= 45,24. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara juga diketahui bahwa rendahnya HOTs siswa dikarenakan siswa tidak terbiasa dalam menyelesaikan soal HOTs serta tidak tersedianya soal-soal HOTs yang secara khusus mengukur HOTs di sekolah, sehingga diharapkan adanya penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai soal-soal HOTs.Students' Thinking Ability in Solving HOTs Questions on Material Patterns and Rows of NumbersAbstractIn the 21st century, higher order thinking skills (HOTs) are needed which include critical thinking skills and creative thinking. The purpose of this study is to describe the students’ ability of interpretation, analysis, inference, fluency and originality in solving questions about patterns and rows of numbers. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and as many as 40 students consisting of 19 students of SMPN 5 Bantan and 21 students of Al-Huda MTS. The instrument used in the form of (1) written tests oriented to HOTs and (2) interview guidelines. The test results showed the average level of SMPN 5 Bantan students’ HOTs (49.34) and MTS Al-Huda (45.12) was categorized as sufficient. The score of each indicator of HOTs for SMPN 5 Bantan students is known that interpretation= 48.68, analysis= 40.13, inference= 64.47, fluency= 52.68 and originality= 40.79 while for MTs Al-Huda students are interpretation= 61.18, analysis= 40.79, inference= 53.57, fluency= 38.16 and originality= 45.24. Based on the interview results it is also known that the low level of students’ HOTs is because students are not accustomed to solving HOTs questions and the unavailability of HOTs questions that specifically measure HOTs in schools, so it is hoped that further research on questions of HOTs.

Abstrak: Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk: (1) memanfaatkan film kartun “Larva” sebagai media belajar lewat kesalahan untuk mengajarkan siswa berpikir HOTS Khususnya ranah evaluasi dan analisis (2) memberi contoh RPP yang pembelajarannya mengajarkan siswa berpikir Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK)  yang dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah RPP berbasis HOTS, soal evaluasi HOTS, lembar observasi dan kuesioner.  Hasil analisis lembar observasi 86,1% siswa menjawab dengan benar pertanyaan menggiring HOTS dan lembar kuesioner 96,6% siswa paham dan terbantu dengan pertanyaan menggiring. Hasil tes siswa menunjukkan 85% siswa mendapatkan nilai ≥  70. Penelitian ini telah berhasil dan memenuhi kriteria sehingga RPP ini dapat menjadi contoh RPP berbasis HOTS bagi guru untuk mengajarkan siswa berpikir HOTS.Abstract:  The purpose of this research: (1) to use Larva cartoons as a learning media through mistakes to teach students to think HOTS especially the domain of evaluation and analysis(2) give an example of lesson plans which teaches students to think of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This type of research is classroom action research (CAR) which was analyzed qualitatively. Research Instrument used include lesson plans, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheets. The results of the observation sheet analysis of 86.1% of students answered correctly the questions led to HOTS and questionnaire sheets 96.6% of students understood and were helped with questions leading. Student test results show 85% of students get a score of more than 70. This research has succeeded and fulfilled the criteria so that this lesson plans can be an example of HOTS-based lesson plans for teachers to teach students to think HOTS.
