This paper is a result of research study about the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of oil and gas company in social welfare. This research specifically focus on communities in five villages around an oil and gas Joint Operating Body managed by Pertamina and Petrochina of East Java operating in Tuban Regency, East Java Province. The company performed CSR as required by Law No.22 Year 2001 on Oil and Gas which further elaborated by Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities' (SKK Migas) Regulation No. 017/PTK/III/2005 on Guidelines for Community Development. The research method is a qualitative and descriptive. The research found that the company's CSR implemented four programs which do not led to a good practice of community development. Many programs implemented did not align with community needs, lacking of transparency – which then led to misuse of fund, and no impact on affected communities' welfare. Poverty in natural resource rich area is a common phenomena known as as the 'resource course'. It is called a 'curse' as the natural resources were supposed to be a blessing for a prosper and prosperous community. However, the opposite is often happen. This resource curse is believed can be solved by many things, in which one of them, is the company's role through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In order for CSR programs to work well, align with community needs and have a sustainable impact, then the management of CSR becomes an important thing to be pushed. Transparency and accountability of CSR programs are crucial points which required to be monitored by stakeholders. CSR is not a charity based on voluntary action, but an obligation that is the responsibility of the company as good mining practices.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become an integral part of firms’ strategies in their effort to increase their positive impact on society. This study investigates the impact of a CSR initiative, known as “The LAB Project”, implemented by the TITAN– Sharrcem Company, on the rural community of Hani I Elezit in Kosovo. The LAB project aims to support the establishment and operation of agricultural and food-related start-ups and, most importantly, to ensure their sustainability. The sample of the study consists of 174 area residents. This research examines local residents’ perceptions about a) the TITAN-Sharrcem operations in the area, b) the LAB project’s main contribution to the local community,  c) the project’s overall performance, d)  the profitability of the start-ups created by the project, and e)  the project’s effect on the community’s quality of life. Overall, the results reveal that the project has set the foundation for the community’s sustainable development. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first research on the effect of such initiatives in the region. The article shows the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in ensuring sustainable development of the country. The types of CSR and its features in various states are considered. The author describes the economy of the Russian Federation and its impact on the system of corporate social responsibility in the country. The high profitability of resource-extractive industries and their use of the country’s national wealth defines their special role in CSR not only towards their employees through wages and the allocation of social benefits from profit, but also to the society. It is shown that the established country’s political system significantly influences the possibility of implementing a system of corporate social responsibility. The author characterizes the significant regulatory and stimulating role of the state in social development through taxation and the structure of government spending. When assessing the financial conditions of CSR, the author analyses the impact of capital outflow on its development. Corporate social responsibility also includes the responsibility of organizations to the environment. The author provides a rating assessment of Russian oil and gas, mining and metallurgical companies openness in terms of environmental responsibility.

Abstract The pandemic has significantly worsened the situation of oil and gas companies, causing a decline in demand and prices on the global energy market. In this crisis situation, there is an urgent need to review the organizational activities of companies, within which there is an interest in studying the impact of corporate social responsibility on the sustainability of companies and their environmental safety. Despite a sufficient number of empirical works studying the impact of corporate social responsibility on environmental indicators, there are not enough works in foreign and domestic literature studying this relationship on the example of the oil and gas industry. The purpose of this work is to determine the impact of corporate social responsibility on the environmental sustainability of oil and gas companies. The object of this study is corporate social responsibility, and the subject is the impact of corporate social responsibility on the sustainability of oil and gas companies.

Corporate bodies have come to the realisation that establishing a strong rapport with surrounding communities is vital for the growth, success and survival of their organisations. This article delves into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of business organisations operating in Ghana. Specifically, it looks at how CSR initiatives of sampled companies contribute to community development (CD). To attain this aim, both quantitative and qualitative research approaches were adopted. The purposive sampling technique was used to select companies operating in three main sectors of the economy. Secondary data sources such as companies’ periodicals, annual reports, websites, newspapers and publications by government agencies were used. The findings of the study reveal that the selected companies engaged in various forms of CSR activities that contribute to CD. There general focus of these companies is on education, health and people empowerment. It is recommended that stakeholders’ engagement needs to be fully practised in the course of CSR implementation. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an extension of the corporate role which encompasses the economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities that a company must fulfill, such that it improves the overall quality of life of the community around it. Sustainable development (SD) on the other hand involves operations that have a minimal impact on the environment. However, in today’s global environment, governments around the world are implementing stricter environmental regulations and supporting higher standards of living for their citizens. This socially and environmentally conscious undertone has made it imperative for organizations to address issues related to CSR and SD seriously and in many cases with the highest urgency. Successful implementation CSR and CS strategies are very vital for oil and gas industries due to fact that these industries are very responsible for the global environment as well as these companies represent the top wealthy industries of the world. The three oil and gas industries (Shell, BP, and Total S.A.) that have been analyzed in this project work, demonstrate that their CS and CSR strategies are not the same and there is scope of improvement. From the comparative analysis, BP’s investment (0.8% of the net annual profit) in community development is very low compared to the investment in community development of Shell (5.5% of Net annual profit) and Total S.A. (4.77% of Net annual profit) which clearly indicates that BP’s CSR strategies are not sustainable also BP’s TBL aspects are not balanced in this case.

This study is aims to determine the implementation of corporate social responsibility in the form of “Program Kemitraan dan Bina Lingkungan (PKBL) at PT Madubaru and the obstacles, and to determine the impact of the implementation of corporate social responsibility, both for companies and for local communities who were targets PKBL. This study is a descriptive study with qualitative approach. Subject of study is determined by purposive and snowball technique. The data was collected by interviews and document studies. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using inductive analysis. The results suggest that corporate social responsibility that is implemented is still largely in the form of momentary fulfillment, not to the aspect of sustainability as intended in community development. Obstacles encountered in implementing PKBL is difficult to find small businesses that fit with the company's business activities, the difficulty of finding good business-minded and responsible, and not compatibles PKBL budget allocation for the activity by the number of requests, so the funds are rolled still considered small by the community. The impact of the implementation is not optimal PKBL felt, because, although PT Madubaru has implemented PKBL in various activities and felt there was a good relationship with the local community that is created through the implementation PKBL, but on the other side of the perceived benefit of trained partners and target communities to the extent not empower society

The current research investigates the impact of internal corporate social responsibility on job satisfaction in Jordanian pharmaceutical companies. Quantitative research design and regression analysis were applied on a total of 302 valid returns that were obtained in a questionnaire based survey from 14 pharmaceutical companies among employees, supervisors and managers. The results showed that internal corporate social responsibility was significantly related to job satisfaction and three of its dimensions, namely working conditions, work life balance and empowerment contributed significantly to job satisfaction, whereas employment stability and skills development had no contribution. This study implies that Jordanian pharmaceutical companies have to try their best to promote and facilitate internal corporate social responsibility among their employees in an effort to improve their job satisfaction, which will eventually yield positive results for the company as a whole. In light of these results, the research presented many recommendations for future research; the most important ones were the application of this study in other sectors, cultures, and countries, and using of multi method for collecting data.
