This study aims to describe the variation of the greeting words used by Arabians in Surakarta. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data in this research is the speech language used by the Arab ethnic community in Kecamatan Pasar Kliwon, Surakarta by searching for linguistic features on the variation of the word greeting. Sources of data were obtained from informants who were Arabs in Surakarta. Technique of data analysis using technique of padan. Based on analysis results can be concluded that the variation of Arabic greeting of Arabian community in Surakarta has its own peculiarities. Such distinctiveness is indicated through the greetings associated with pronouns, kinship, social status, and professions used by Arabs more still influenced by the Arabic element. Nevertheless, some of the greetings have shifted in Indonesian and Javanese.

This undergraduate thesis entitled Women’s Language Used by Female Characters in The Movie How To Be Single. It is aimed at identifying the language features applied by female characters and finding out the functions of each type of women’s linguistic features. This paper used the theory of women’s linguistic features proposed by Robin Lakoff (1975). The data source in this study is the movie How To Be Single.  The collected data were identified and selected, then the features of women’s language used by the female characters in the movie How To Be Single were analyzed  based on Lakoff (1975). The method applied in collecting data was the documentation method. Afterwards, the method of analyzing data in this study was the descriptive qualitative method. This study applied informal method in presenting the data analysis. The findings of the analysis showed that there were nine kinds of women’s linguistic features found in the movie How To Be Single. There were also some functions of women’s linguistic features found in the data. The functions of each type of the features are closely related to the context in which it is used. Each type of women’s linguistic features found in the movie displays has different functions and reasons.

This study aims to determine the Tourist Perception of Bokori Island Tourism Object in Bokori Village, Soropia District of Konawe Regency. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Subjects in this study were tourists visiting attractions Bokori Island. Traveler sampling in this study set out in the quota sampling 50 respondents, in this study the sample collection technique by accidental sampling.Methods of  data collection using questionnaires, observation and documentation. Questionnaire data analysis in this research is the analysis presented in the table percentage and distribution. Based on the results obtained show that, according to the perception of tourists attractions of the Bokori Island (1) appeal to the average score - average rating of 3.31 with the perception of being in either category, (2) accessibility with a mean score - average of 3.40 with the perception of tourists are in good category, (3) visitor facilities with a mean score - average rating of 3.12 with the perception of being in either category, (4) infrastructure with a mean score - average 3.53 with the perception of tourists were in the excellent category, (5) security with a mean score - average of 3.24 with the perceptions of visitors are in good category, (6) the promotion with a mean score - average of 3.32 with the perceptions of visitors are in either category. Thus the perception of the overall rating showed a mean score - average rating of 3.32 with the perception of being in either category.

Social dialect variation is diversity and richness of dialect owned by an individual or group in Sasak monolingual society. Moreover, the diversity of social dialect is also often used as a medium for transferring ideology, identity, and existence by an individual or group of individual or other groups. Thus, the purpose of this study is to describe the form of vocabulary choice in social dialect variation of Sasak community to show differences in speech who is high social status (superior) and low social status (inferior) between individuals or groups and between women and men. The theory used is social dialect variation form of Janet Holmes and critical analysis Norman Fairclough. The data was collected by observing methods and interview as well as the basic techniques and derivatives, observation and documentation methods. Sources of data gathered from Sasak speakers who are communicating. Data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method which aims to make systematic description, categorization, and patterning. Data are presented formally and informally. At last, this study resulted in different forms of social dialect variation by an individual or group and by women and men who can cause physical-psychic intersection.

This undergraduate thesis examines the type of transitive verbs found in a children story entitled “Pinocchio”, which was taken from the children story book entitled Disney Storyland Treasury, and analyzes the degree of transitivity found in the story. The data were collected using the documentation method and were analyzed using the descriptive qualitative method. In addition, in order to present the data analysis clearly, both formal and informal methods were used since the data were described in form of sentences and tables. The main theory applied in this study is proposed by Hopper and Thompson (1980) about transitivity, who said that transitivity is a matter of degree and partly because obviousness of change in the object. This theory is supported by the types of verb proposed by Givon (1984), which is used to find out the types of verb in the story. The finding of the analysis showed that there were three types of verbs found in the story namely state verb, action verb and process verb. Each verb has different degree of transitivity, where the degree of state verb is categorized as low in transitivity, action and process verbs have the highest degree of parameter of transitivity.

This research was conducted at PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh, with the aim to answer the question of how the payroll accounting system applied in PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh.This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data obtained from interviews and documentation studies, then analyzed interactively and lasted continuously until complete so that the data has been saturated. Activity in data analysis is data reduction, data presentation, treanggulation and conclusion / verification.The results show PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh has implemented a neat and well-payroll accounting system in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Payroll accounting system in PDAM Tirta Daroy Banda Aceh is used to overcome errors and irregularities in the calculation and payment of salary. Payroll accounting systems are designed by companies to provide a clear picture of employee salaries so that they are easy to understand and easy to use.

The purpose of this study, first, is to analyze the echocritical element reflected by the author through the short story Pegasus Jatuh. Second, integrate ecological values in literature teaching. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The approach used is Garrard's eco-criticism. Sources of data obtained from the behavior of characters in the short story. Data analysis begins by marking words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that have a focus on environmental exploitation. The results show in the short story “Pegasus Jatuh”, the author reflects environmental phenomena that include illegal logging, buying and selling protected animals, and exploitation of gold. The analysis applied in literature learning which has an important role in character education. Literature in education has a role to develop the language, cognitive, affective, psychomotoric, personality, and social aspects of students.

The article deals with the translation strategies used in Toba Dream Movie. The objectives of this study were to find out types and most dominant type of translation strategies used in the subtitles of Toba Dream movie. The study was conducting by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of the study were words, phrases, and clauses in the subtitle of  Toba  Dream movie, there  were 425 dialogues in the movie. The data analysis were taken by listing and tabulating the data. The data were analyzed based on the theory that proposed by Henrik Gottlieb. The findings inducted that there  were ten types of translation strategies used in the movie, they were there were (319 times)used transfer strategy,  (37 times) used paraphrase, (27 times) used dislocation, (20 times)used resignation, (10times) used expansion, (5 times)used decimation, (4 times) utterances which used condesation, (1time) used imitation, (1time) used transcription and (1time) used deletion. The dominant strategy used in the subtitles of Toba Dream movie was transfer strategy where the translator  translated the dialogues completely and correctly.

This research is made because the occurance of the unfairness gender to the woman inEntrok novel by Okky Madasari that effects woman resistance to gain gender equality. Thepurpose of the research is to describe the unfairness gender and woman resistance in Entrok novelby Okky Madasari by using gender unfairness analysis based on sosialist feminism theories. Thisresearch uses descriptive qualitative method. The gender unfairness of woman in Entrok novel iscaused by man’s opinion that is sevoregein in a relative or a sociaty or called by domination ofpatriarki. it influences sociaty’s culture and tradition. It causes misunderstanding between societyabout what is gender and sex. That gender unfairness is a booster of feminism movementapperance. It appears because of the meaning of gender that is not understood well by the society.Feminism movement which is done by woman is a woman resistance caused by unfairnessgender that adverses herself.Based on the data analysis the researcher found five kinds ofunfairness of woman that effects domination of patriaki. It causes gender unfairness. Those arestereotype, subordination, marginalization, double burden, and violence to the woman. Genderunfairness makes the woman do resistance and demands equity for herself. There are sevenresistences that is done by woman in Entrok novel. Those are the resistance to the stereotip thatwoman is weak and man is strong, the resistance to the stereotip that woman who becomes thesecond wife is called a bitch. The resistance to the marginalization in occupation, the resistance tothe marginalization in household, the resistance to the marginalization caused by govermentpolicy, the resistance to the double burden cause by patriaki system and resistance to the violenceand rape. But all of the resistances that are done is note able to change gender unfairness happens.This because of man’s patriaki domination that is valided by culture construction that is increasingly glutinous in society’s opinion.

This research aims to examine the change of Malay coast wedding procession of noblese and common society in Singkep Pesisir, Lingga regency, Riau island province. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collected methods used are interviews, observation and documentation. The research informants consisted of eleven people, namely four traditional figures, three noble descendants, two ordinary people who had carried out traditional Malay wedding receptions and representatives of two unmarried people. The analytical method used in this study was data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study found that when conducting a wedding reception in Singkep District, the higher social status recognized in the community such as occupation, education and descent. Then the wedding reception will be carried out in accordance that has been determined derivatives such as the used of the level of pelamin and clothing  whichused. But when the noble descendants carried out wedding receptions unlike the noble descendants of Tengku, Raja and Encik due to spending large sums of money, the descendants carried out wedding receptions using modern traditions and shortened but there were Malay people which not noble descendants carried out receptions such as noble descent when people being or a rich person, the wedding reception of a noble descent may be carried out by people not of noble descent.

The research aims to describe the functions of humor used in an American comedy movie The Boss. The subject of the research was American comedy movie The Boss. Descriptive qualitative method was used to conduct the research. Data collection was done through library research and documentation. Data analysis was done through identification, coding, classification and description. The researcher found several findings. Supported by Meyers theory of joke, there are 6 functions of jokes found in the movie such as to insult someone, to express anger, to tease someone, to relieve tension, to get attention, and to amuse others. The dominant function was differentiation particularly to insult and to express anger 21 times, the second was clarification particularly to relieve tension humorous lines and amuse others 15 times, the third was enforcement particularly to tease 18 times, and the last was identification particularly to relieve tension and to get attention 27 times. These functions were also analyzed and discriminated by different setting and participant based on formality and participants distance. According to the analysis, most jokes occurred in informal situation with intimate relationship among the participants and functioned to tease someone and to relieve tension. This finding also proves that American humor is expressed with more slapstick and vulgarity as the characteristic of American humor used in daily communication.
