This review focuses on students’ perceptions of their rights in elementary and secondary schools. The conceptual framework of rights consciousness was applied to understand how students’ knowledge, experiences, and emotions shape their rights perceptions. The analysis is based on 38 empirical studies conducted in different countries. The findings characterize students’ rights perceptions as intuitive—that is, perceptions that are not grounded in legal rules but in students’ personal insights. The findings also identify key factors affecting students’ perceptions: school context, national context, and students’ individual characteristics. The conclusions underscore that school rights-based practices, student body and school staff diversity, and school relationships influence students’ rights consciousness. However, questions remain concerning how students’ perceptions are affected by cultural repertoires, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, and age. The implications are that future studies should apply a context-based agenda to inform the design and implementation of human rights education programs and rights-based organizational practices.

Prioritizing tasks appropriately is particularly critical when performing multiple tasks concurrently. Although necessary to achieve one's goals or avoid serious consequences, prioritization has not received much attention in the research literature, especially with respect to modeling human performance computationally. A conceptual framework that integrates several motivational theories, empirical studies, and neuroscience research is proposed to guide future studies of dynamic prioritization in multiple-goal contexts. Rooted in control theory, the proposed framework illustrates self-regulation processes in prioritizing tasks and explicitly shows important factors affecting the prioritization process so that empirical results can be integrated into the framework and future studies can be inferred. By illustrating information flow in the self-regulation processes and the brain structures associated with prioritization, the framework should help facilitate development of robust computational models of task prioritization.

Evolutionary studies of reproductive fitness will lead to a deep understanding of the evolution of human behavior. However, empirical studies that include Japanese data are rare. We analyze statistical data that include subjects in five developed countries (Japan, South Korea, United States, France and Sweden). Distributions of the actual and desired numbers of children of people aged 45 or older peak at two in all countries. Our analysis shows that the unique factor that affects the actual number of children is the age of first marriage (in Japan and U.S.) or household income (in France). Other factors, such as education level, hardly affect the actual number or presence of children. We suggest directions of future studies from these results.

Dynamically changing conditions for the development of society, transformations taking place both in the internal and external environment of the organization, have a significant impact on the processes of personnel management. Each employee contributes to the end result of the enterprise. Employee satisfaction affects the competitiveness of the company, its stability in a crisis, the ability to take a leading position in changes in the market economy. Staff satisfaction is one of the key factors for the stable functioning of the company. The more employees are satisfied with their work space, functional duties, organization, nature and content of work, material and intangible incentives, advancement on the career ladder, labor collective, the more effective their work in the organization will become. Also, among the factors affecting the satisfaction of staff work, one can distinguish the qualification of an employee, his individual characteristics, gender, age, length of service. The person in the organization acts as the most important resource in which it is necessary to invest a special type of investment in the form of remuneration, providing opportunities for the development and improvement of professional skills, creating comfortable working conditions. The need to understand the mechanisms that drive a person, affect his satisfaction with labor and then encourage him to develop and have led to this study.

The purpose of this article is to critically review current studies on employees’ adaptive performance and to integrate the findings to provide insights on how to develop employees’ adaptability. It also aims to identify gaps in the research to guide future studies on adaptive performance in the field of human resource development. By reviewing 34 empirical studies on adaptive performance published between 1999 and 2016, we identified 22 antecedents of adaptive performance at the individual (nine), job (six), group (three), and organizational (four) levels. Our analyses reveal that a significant amount of research has focused more on individual characteristics than on other aspects affecting employees’ high adaptive performance. Discussion, implications, and recommendations for future research are elaborated.

Factors affecting stock prices have been studied by many scholars on different stock markets. However, the number of empirical studies applying technical analysis indicators to measure investor sentiment is quite limited. To explore this interesting topic, this study uses the Money Flow Index (MFI) indicator to measure an investor's sentiment by various thresholds and to test its effect on the excess return on Vietnam stock market. Data series including market, interest rate, finance and transaction data of 138 companies listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange from 2015 to June 2020 are used in the equations Regression. The study's findings show that, after controlling for market factors, individual characteristics and liquidity of each company, investor sentiment as measured by the MFI indicator still has a significant impact on the return of stocks at all thresholds. In addition, when the MFI value area is near the starting and ending point of the scale (less than 20, greater than 80), the regression coefficients of these two thresholds and control variables both increase compared to the remaining models, return and significant effect to the excess return of the securities.

The work of General Managers (GMs) in hotels has been the focus of several empirical studies since the early 1980s. The majority of these studies were conducted in corporate or multinational (MNC) hotel chains’ environment and often neglected the smaller independent operators and family businesses. This study explores the mediating factors that affect the GMs’ work in small and medium luxury hotels (SMLHs); the context of this study is Greece, a popular tourist destination dominated by SMLHs. Based on a qualitative research approach, sixteen in-depth interviews with GMs were conducted in four popular tourist destinations. Five key factors in relation to the GMs’ work were found to be important: career development and mobility; contact intensity; owner-GM relations; dealing with corruption; and networking and reputation. The findings suggest a number of theoretical and managerial implications related to managerial work in SMLHs.

In modern conditions of development, financial security is an integral part of the overall security of the region and is formed on the basis of the functioning of the financial system. The complication of relationships between key segments of international financial markets, as well as the limited ability to accurately predict future trends in the development of the global financial system, lead to a gradual increase in the risks that accompany the activities of economic entities, and an increase in the number and scale of internal and external threats that have a negative impact on the financial security of the state. This formulation of the issue requires generalization of approaches to determining the financial security of the region in order to further formalize this issue and determine the key factors affecting it. The article considers the types of financial security, as well as certain areas of ensuring the financial security of the region and their priority. In work the assessment of the level of socio-economic development of the region with a view to ensuring financial security on the basis of which offers the main activities and priority areas of implementation of the investment policy that will ensure financial security of the Republic of Crimea.

AbstractWestern blotting (WB) is one of the most widely used techniques to identify proteins as well as post translational modifications of proteins. The selection of electroblotted membrane is one of the key factors affecting the detection sensitivity of the protein which is transferred from gel to membrane in WB. The most common used membranes are polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and nitrocellulose (NC) membranes. Which membrane of these two is more suitable for WB has not been reported so far. Here, by incubating proteins which were transferred to PVDF or NC membranes with a series of antibodies and different types of lectins, we investigated the relationship between the binding ability of these two membranes to proteins or glycoproteins and the molecular weight of the target protein. The antibody re-probed ability of the two membranes was also explored. Moreover, we verified the above results by directly incubating proteins having different molecular weights onto PVDF or NC membranes. Bound proteins were stained with direct blue-71, and the staining intensity was quantitated by scanning and densitometry.
