The building industry contributed an impressive share in Pakistan's growth sector, where the construction industry contributes almost 2.74% of the GDP of Pakistan. In most metropolitan cities, the trend of building multi-story structures is at increase. However, this construction industry is a prominent accident-prone industry where laborers generally work in an unsafe environment. These projects suffer from fatal and non-fatal accidents as labor health and security are not a prime aim in the construction industry despite all employees still dealing with safety issues. This research examines the Occupational safety and health (OSH) performance in High-rise building projects in Pakistan. This review focuses on adopting qualitative approaches, using the comprehensive literature approach for seeking current practice in health and safety and OHS laws in Pakistan's building industry. Finally, it proposes a realistic strategy for developing a safe environment at workplaces. Research indicates that Pakistan's construction sector should consider workers' safety as a priority, update and enforce safety laws at the workplace to enrich OHS conditions in the Pakistani construction sector.

Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of proactive and reactive performance on indicators of the application of OHS in high-rise building construction. The data used in this study were obtained from a questionnaire (primary) and several observations and direct interviews with employees in 20 types of high-rise building projects in Indonesia. The analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis using hypothesis testing, namely the F test and t test. The results showed that simultaneously and partially the independent variables consisting of proactive performance (X1) and reactive performance (X2) had a significant effect on the variable construction K3 program (Y). From the ANOVA or F test, a significant number (Sig) (0.037) is obtained which is below 0.05 and the Fcount is 11.570 where the F count is greater than F table, F table is 3.84. These results indicate that the regression model is feasible to be used to predict the proactive performance and reactive performance variables together to influence the performance of the OHS culture of high-rise building construction. Seeing the performance points of construction project employees can be influenced by many other points from the results of the T Test calculation where the competence of workers obtains T results of 3.098 or the highest among others so that with this we can say that worker competence is a critical factor in improving cultural performance.

The construction industry is one of the risky workplaces attributable to its complexity and dynamic nature of construction activities. High rise building construction remains predominant for high accident rates counted yearly. A site-specific assessment tool that considers the characteristics and changeable conditions of the currently managed construction site is necessary to precisely assess safety risks. Therefore, this study aims to address the significant safety risks and principal factors associated with the high rise building construction projects in Malaysia. Responses obtained within the construction management personnel are evaluated using factor analysis to understand the latent critical risk factors. Preliminary findings suggest that all safety risks are significant and working environment is identified as the most critical principal factor which consists of diverse underlying safety risks with high loading factors. Successful investigations of the study will lead to the development of a high rise building construction safety and health risk model. From the practical view, these findings should assist the high rise construction project participants to be more attentive to health and safety issues.

In 2014, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing have published regulation that require the full implementation of Occupational Safety and Health Management System or short as OHSMS (known as SMK3 in Indonesia) in all phases of construction projects. The so called PerMenPUPR 5/2014 imposed an allocation of cost specific for OHSMS in the owner’s estimate, which was later updated as PerMenPUPR 2/2018 for minor adjustments in the regulation. This regulation was supported with guidelines for project managers on estimating the cost allocation for OHSMS. However, the initiative to address safety issues more comprehensively has been ineffective. The directive has not been seriously implemented by stakeholders on public projects. Thus, to help convince all stakeholders, more quantitative evidence on the costs for implementing OHSMS is pursued. This study is to determine the percentage of costs allocated by contractors for the procurement of OHSMS components. Data were collected from surveys to eight construction sites of high-rise building projects in Jakarta and Bandung. Based on interviews, questionnaires, and supporting documents from each case study, the cost of implementing the regulation was simulated and estimated. The cost allocation ranges from 2.01% to 3.70% of the contract value. The most significant components of the costs were related to OSH personnel (44.10%), insurance and licensing (35.2%), and OSH induction and promotion (5.82%).

The construction of high-rise building projects is a dangerous vocation due to the uniqueness and nature of the activities, as well as the complexity of the working environment, yet safety issues remain crucial in the construction industry. Digital technologies, such as building information modeling (BIM), have been identified as valuable tools for increasing construction productivity, efficiency, and safety. This research aimed to mitigate the accident safety factors in high-rise building projects via integrating BIM with emerging digital technologies in the construction industry, such as photogrammetry, GPS, RFID, augmented reality, (AR), virtual reality (VR), and drone technology. Qualitative research was conceived in the ground theory approach. Forty-five online interviews with construction stakeholders and qualitative data analysis were carried out using the NVivo 11 software package. According to the findings, interviewees were more motivated to use photogrammetry and drone technologies in high-rise building projects in order to increase construction safety. Positive, negative, and neutral attitudes about BIM integration with emerging digital technologies were discovered. Furthermore, a research framework was developed by consolidating research findings that articulate the measures and future needs of BIM integration with other digital technologies to mitigate construction accidents in high-rise building projects. The framework also renders practical references for industry practitioners towards effective and safer construction.

     Suicide attacks, bombings, explosions became the part of daily life in Iraq. Consequently, the threat of terrorism put the Iraqi construction sector in the face of unique and unusual challenges that not seen on other countries. These challenges can have extensive impact on construction projects. This paper seeks to examine the impact of the terrorist attacks on construction industry and determine the extent to which the impact of terrorism on construction projects in terms of cost, schedule, and quality. This study adapted quantitative and qualitative approaches to collect data using questionnaire survey and interviews, as well as historical data. The study focused on projects that have been the target of terrorist strikes in Diyala governorate. A variety of statistical procedures were employed in data analysis. The results revealed the extent to which terrorist attacks impact construction projects in terms of cost, time, and quality. The results of this study will enhance the awareness of all construction parties to the impact of the terrorist attacks against construction projects. Eventually, this can develop a risk management assessment and assist contractors to properly protect projects and buildings to minimize injuries and fatalities in the event of terrorism.

The most important aspect of any successful structural construction is the formwork system. Formwork itself defines as the temporary structure into which the concrete placed to obtain its desired shape and gains its weight to withstand against various loading conditions. This paper focuses on the two parts 1. Identified different formwork systems using in Indian construction industry for high-rise building construction and 2. Explanations of the decision support system for formwork system so that a decision-maker decides or makes the right choice for the selection of formwork system. This study employed a literature review approach (journal paper, research paper, technical articles & notes, and white paper). The methodology divided into two parts; firstly, the identification of the formwork systems used in the construction industry and secondly, to study a brief about decision support system and for formwork system by which the ease to make a decision support frame for the formwork system selection. This paper reflects the different formwork system typology used in the construction industry for high-rise buildings. The outcome of this paper helps to establish the baseline to develop decision support for the formwork system selection.

Purpose: The overall aim of this research is to identify and catalogue the numerous managerial strategies for effective management of health and safety on a confined, urban, construction site. Design/Methodology/Approach: This is achieved by utilising individual interviews, focus groups discussion on selected case studies of confined construction sites, coupled with a questionnaire survey. Findings: The top five key strategies include (1) Employ safe system of work plans to mitigate personnel health and safety issues; (2) Inform personnel, before starting on-site, of the potential issues using site inductions; (3) Effective communication among site personnel; (4) Draft and implement an effective design site layout prior to starting on-site; and (5) Use of banksman (traffic co-ordinator) to segregate personnel from vehicular traffic. Practical Implication: The construction sector is one of the leading industries in accident causation and with the continued development and regeneration of our urban centres, confined site construction is quickly becoming the norm - an environment which only fuels accident creation within the construction sector. Originality/Value: This research aids on-site management that requires direction and assistance in the identification and implementation of key strategies for the management of health and safety, particularly in confined construction site environments.

Due to high level of agglomeration many innovative standards are being implemented in industry sectors of the world countries. Ensuring the safety of the environment and the human production is an urgent task of modern civilized societies. Especially, it plays a great role in construction industry since many building processes become based on hi-technologies and extreme engineering atmosphere. Naturally, high probability of risks and hazard might cause in and out of the construction site during the working hours occur major accidents. Only way is reaming optimize and implement of international standards on Health and Safety Law at work affects human, financial and environmental factors of the country. The main objective purpose of the paper is reducing injures and accidents at construction industry and implement recent modern legislation system in Uzbekistan. It helps for contribute finishing construction projects on time, on budget and on high quality standards with zero rate accident regulation. Although, health and safety theories are important for the prevention of accidents scientifically with a little in-depth knowledge on their outcomes and processes. This research deals with this gap by using methodology on occupational safety standards in construction sites.

It is the advantage to outsourcing of supply chains that opened up a new door of economic emancipation for Bangladesh. The readymade garments (RMG) of Bangladesh emerge as value chain member of European, USA cloth merchants and retails. Many of them are found economic justification in outsourcing production function to Bangladesh. RMG sector of Bangladesh responded to this outsourcing demand quite successfully. The overwhelming success of the RMG sector of Bangladesh has moved its status in the global context in terms of economic and social development indicators. Despite the challenge that lies ahead, Bangladesh performed well in terms of realizing benefit of economic globalization, particularly its RMG sector.
