The COVID-19 pandemic represents a global threat and crisis situation, and its wide-reaching impact has also affected marital satisfaction. Dysfunction of the marital system puts the survival of the family unit at risk. This research aimed to determine the level of marital satisfaction of Portuguese families during the social lockdown and the association between the variables under study. A descriptive, exploratory study was conducted. During the social lockdown, 276 people of Portuguese nationality and residing in Portugal were recruited using nonprobabilistic convenience sampling. Marital satisfaction in the pandemic phase showed low values that may be associated with the social, economic, and political context experienced by the pandemic situation. Future research must be carried out in order to identify, prevent, and intervene in situations of violence. In addition, future research should explore not only marital satisfaction during the current pandemic but a more systemic assessment of marital relations during crises, expanding the impact of marital satisfaction in family functioning.

Drought is one of the most harmful hydro climatic threats to society. Mexico has been historically affected by recurring and long-lasting droughts that have severely impacted society and the economy. Consequently, public programs and policies have been developed in order to reduce the country’s vulnerability to drought, hence the importance of identifying the spatial distribution and the dimension—even in relative terms only—of vulnerability in different regions from social, economic, and environmental perspectives. This article presents a method for obtaining indices and maps of vulnerability to drought in Mexico; indices and maps are based on a set of socioeconomic and environmental indicators that the method combines using an objective analytic procedure that identifies the most vulnerable states and municipalities from social, economic, and environmental perspectives, all of which converge in overall vulnerability to drought. The results obtained indicate that 38.9% of total Mexican population inhabits municipalities with high and very high degrees of overall vulnerability to drought. For this reason, it is necessary to continue implementing actions and preventive and mitigation strategies via public policies and social programs aimed at decreasing the country’s vulnerability to the occurrence of drought events. This is the only way to facilitate the necessary conditions to reduce the impact of drought and to decrease people’s vulnerability to this phenomenon.

Population aging is the most important trend of the 21st century in the world. Vietnam has officially entered the period of population aging since 2014 with the fastest aging rate. “Population aging” is a noticeable topic in Vietnam today. And in fact, according to many researchers, the number, especially the number of in-depth researches and applicable researches are still limited. Based on the inheriting of precedence researches and the result of my fieldwork study conducted in nursing homes in Ho Chi Minh city, from a new viewpoint, the paper aims to explore the traditional role of elderly care of the family in relationship with using nursing home today. Until now, the traditional family has played the main role in elderly care in Vietnam. In the context of changing society under the impact of urbanization and industrialization today, studying about the traditional role of elderly care of family, the relationship between family and the trend of "socialization" of elderly care, the changes and predicted future trend when compared with Japan, etc. would be necessary. The research result shows that the Vietnamese still have a strong negative attitude toward elderly care homes, and the traditional role of the family of elderly care is still deeply maintained. But at the same time, some basic changes have also confirmed, such as the change in traditional filial piety, the strengthening of the role of social services such as elderly care homes, etc. It can be said that this is the outstanding characteristic of the status of elderly care in Vietnam today. And based on comparing with other countries, the study also shows that in order to find an effective elderly care model in Vietnam, it is necessary to pay much attention to the relationship with the family.

AbstractDespite a long-term reduction trend, the potato production in Poland compared to EU countries is still very high. Therefore, the aim of the paper was to investigate the impact of mechanical damages and light for various genotypes on glycoalkaloids accumulation. Glycoalkaloids are toxic steroid glycosides that naturally occur in the family of Solanaceae. According to many authors, their presence in plants is related to resistance to a physiological stress inflicted by mechanical damages and infections caused by some microorganisms and insects. The TGA content above 200 mg∙kg−1 in a fresh mass of potatoes is an upper limit that guarantees health safety of food. Studies were carried out on 28 potato cultivars divided into 4 groups. The studies that were carried out after harvesting and after 5 months of storage in the experimental storage room in the temperature of 8°C showed an impact of damages and exposition to light of potato tubers on the content of glycoalkaloids.

ABSTRACTAgeing Australian farmers face many uncertainties associated with wider social, economic and climate change. Significantly for many farmers, ageing means the end not only of a life-long occupation but the end of the farm that has often been in the family for many generations. In turn, the prospect of this discontinuity breaches long-held cultural images of Australian farming and farmers. For individual male farmers approaching retirement age, the lack of succession and discontinuation of the family's ownership of, and attachment to the land, poses threats for social and personal identity. This paper examines the narratives of three male, baby-boom Australian farmers to tease out the impact of ageing and the possible loss of the family farm on the ways that they construct their situations and their self-identity. It illustrates the narrative practices that these men employ as they work to validate their self-identities within particular narrative environments, and through a range of outmoded and contemporary material conditions that mediate their selves and lives. The approach exemplified in this paper focuses on the processes and phases of analysis to show how the farmers craft their narrative as well as the individuality, complexity and coherence of their accounts.

This paper reviews the transformation of Ukrainian consumption patterns since 1991 and the impact this change had on Ukrainian consumers. The authors research the market forces and the influence those forces had on the consumer behavior. Also, the authors conclude that these market forces resulted in transforming consumer behavior and consumption patterns. In this paper presents a conceptual analysis of the possible choices of market models and the implications of the Ukrainian society. Scientific findings demonstrate that users in Ukraine often play the main role in the creation of new conceptual products. But at the same time, there is a paucity of literature on this problem. The authors report a very high level of novelty by these consumers. The outcomes also reveal that innovating users can be distinguished from some non-innovating ones. Finally, innovation by users can be a significant basis of new product thoughts and ideas for consumer goods companies.

Abstract Introduction. The term “quality of life” has been present in the literature for a long time now. It was created in the middle of the last century in Western Europe and from the societal perspective the term initially defined the level of material life, gradually being expanded to other aspects of human life, like happiness, education, broadly defined individual freedom and health. Aim. To analyze differences by gender and place of residence in perception of quality of life based on data from the assessment of thrombocytopenia impact on daily activities using TSIDAV vignette among Polish patients. Material and methods. We assessed the impact of thrombocytopenia symptoms on patients’ daily activities using TSIDAV vignette. We wanted to understand the reason for different perception of symptoms and why visible symptoms are perceived as worse by women in comparison to men. We analyzed the groups by age and place of residence. Results. Within 48 collected questionnaires, 31 were provided by women and 17 by men. As many as 29% of men declared the biggest impact on daily activities due to petechiae and easy bruising. The same symptoms were assessed as having significant impact on daily activities by 68% and 65% of women respectively. The results in relation to the two symptoms were similar in terms of impact: both men and women assessed it as high impact, however in general, a lower proportion of men identified this as an issue. As many as 53% of the pre-menopausal women declared the thrombocytopenia impact on daily activities as very high. Similar results were observed in the male group. Those before retirement age assessed disease symptoms as very high in comparison to the group of older patients. No significant differences in relation to place of residence were observed. During literature research we found that depending on patients’ gender, the perception of the impact of disease on patients quality of life may often differ. Conclusions. We found out that the perception of disease symptoms impact on quality of life is different by women and men. That may be the result of different factors such as the influence of social roles determined for each sex. At the same time, the perception of the impact of thrombocytopenia symptoms on daily activity almost does not depend on age or place of residence of neither women nor men.

Religion is the most important and main element in human life, more than that religion is a universal need. Because the rules contained therein contain very high values for human life and these norms are divine norms that reached humans through divine revelation to the Prophet and his Messenger, which embodied the command (amr) prohibition (nahi), and merit (ibahah). This means that if humans understand well, then want to practice as far as the content of the religious teachings, then surely they are a good ummah, in other words they will not harm or offend others and of course will have good morals too. We feel concerned and worried seeing life in this sophisticated and modern era of globalization. Society the higher the intellectual level, but, strangely in terms of behavior (morality) is decreasing. We often see on television and various mass media, there are kindergarten and elementary school children experiencing severe depression due to violence in the family. The impact is that the child chooses to end his life by committing suicide. Therefore, start equipping our children from an early age with education based on religious concepts as a foundation, as strong roots to serve as guidelines so that later our children become human beings who are able to develop all their potential properly and are ready to face everything. challenge. If we choose the wrong educational institution and provide the foundation for education, it will certainly give birth to a generation that has a mental crisis that will lead to the destruction of the nation.
