[THE USE OF PAITAN BIOMASS (Tithonia diversifolia) (Hemsley) A. Gray AS A FERTILIZER IN INCREASING PEANUT YIELD]. Peanuts are one of the food crops having high economic value due to their nutritional content, especially high protein and fat. Peanut crop production has decreased due to infertile land with poor in nutrients. Efforts to increase peanut production is by including organic paitan (T. diversifolia) provision. This study aims to obtain the optimum dose of T. diversifolia compost on the yield of peanuts. This research was carried out in Pekik Nyaring Village, Bengkulu, with a height of ± 25 m above sea level, from February to April 2018. The design used was a complete randomized block design with a single factor consisting of 6 levels of treatment with four replications. Factor dosage of paitan compost fertilizer (T. diversifolia) is 0 tons/hectares, 5 tons/hectares, 10 tons/hectares, 15 tons/hectares, 20 tons/hectares, and 25 tons/hectares. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance at a 5% level. The results showed that the optimum dose of 15.5 tons/hectares produced 6.54 branches. The dosage of T. diversifolia compost 25 tons/hectares produced the highest number of pithed pods (36.08 pieces), the heaviest pith weighted pods (111.58 g), and the heaviest seed weight (87.06 g).

Wheat is a sub-tropical plant that can adapt well at altitudes of 1000 - 3000 m above sea level and requires relatively low temperatures. At this height, wheat crops in Indonesia are unable to compete with horticultural crops with higher economic value. This causes national wheat production to be very low and results in high wheat imports. Therefore, wheat varieties are needed that can grow and develop in Indonesia in the low to medium plains. The study aimed to test the adaptive mutant population descent in the middle plains to prepare multi-location tests and release of varieties. The benefit of this research is obtaining potential strains from high-temperature adaptive wheat mutants in the lowlands. This research was conducted using a randomized block design with three replications. The treatment consisted of 16 M6 Wheat mutants and four comparative varieties. The results showed that the genotypes of wheat mutants that had high production in M6 propagation in the central plains were N 350 3.7.1 (2.74 t. ha-1), N 350 3.6.2 (2.33 t.ha-1) and N 350 3.1.3 (2.26 t.ha-1). Characters that have high heritability values on M6 Number of stomata, chlorophyll index, plant height, number of tillers, productive tillers, rate of seed filling, panicle length, number of seedlings, empty percentage of florets, hollow seed weight, 1000 seed weight, and production

Abstract. Pazla R, Jamarun N, Zain M, Yanti G, Chandra RH. 2021. Quality evaluation of tithonia (Tithonia diversifolia) with fermentation using Lactobacillus plantarum and Aspergillus ficuum at different incubation times. Biodiversitas 22: 3936-3942. This research aimed to evaluate the nutritional quality of tithonia (Tithonia diversifolia) fermented using Lactobacillus plantarum and Aspergillus ficuum with different incubation times on nutritional content, digestibility, phytase enzyme activity, and characteristics of rumen fluid. The research used an experimental method with a factorial completely randomized design to evaluate the nutritional content and phytase enzyme activity after fermentation (stage 1). A randomized block design was used to evaluate in vitro digestibility and rumen fluid characteristics (stage 2). For factorial completely randomized design, factor A is the type of microbe (L. plantarum and A. ficuum), then factor B is the incubation time (3,5,7 days). Parameters observed were the nutritional content of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), and phytase enzyme activity. For the Randomized Block Design, the research treatments were A = A. ficuum + 5 days of incubation, B = A. ficuum + 7 days of incubation, C = L. plantarum + 3 days of incubation, D = L. plantarum + 5 days of incubation. Parameters measured were the digestibility of dry matter(DMD), organic matter (OMD), crude protein (CPD), crude fiber (CFD), rumen pH, VFA production, and NH3 rumen fluid. The results showed that there was an interaction between the type of microbe and incubation time. The treatment had a significantly different effect (P<0.05) on the content of OM, CP, CF and phytase enzyme activity, but no interaction with the content of DM treatment. In the digestibility, the results showed that the effect was not significantly different (P>0.05) on DMD, OMD, CPD but had a significant effect (P<0.05) on CFD. The treatments also had no significant effect (P>0.05) on VFA but were significantly different (P<0.05) on NH3. From this study, it can be concluded that fermented tithonia using A. ficuum with an incubation period of 7 days could improve the quality of tithonia. It can be seen from the content of CP (31.02%), CF (16.52%), phytase enzyme activity (37.36 U/ml), DMD (66.86%), OMD (67.36%), CFD (81.01%), CPD (70.37%), VFA production 135 mM and NH3 concentration 14.31 mg/100 ml, and pH value 6.72 which is suitable for rumen microbial growth.

Abstract The purpose of the experiment was to assess the effect of application of zinc ammonium acetate (ZAA) on yielding, morphological features and on selected vegetation indices of timothy cv. ‘Owacja’ cultivated for seeds. Zinc ammonium acetate that has a biostimulatory effect was used foliar in the carried out experiment. The experiment was conducted in the years 2015-2017 at the experimental station in Prusy near Krakow, a part of the Experimental Station of the Institute of Crop Production of the University of Agriculture in Krakow. The field experiment was set up in a randomized block design, in four replications, and the area of experimental plots was 10 m2. Degraded Chernozem formed from loess (classified to the first class quality soil) was present on the experimental area. The experiment consisted in applying ZAA as spray at three doses: 0.214, 0.267 and 0.400 kg(ZnNH4(CH3CO2)3)/ha. Based on the obtained preliminary results, it was found that application of foliar activator in a higher dose (0.400 kg/ha) caused a significant (p ≤ 0.05) increase in seed yield, 1000-seed weight and in germination capacity in relation to the control. Improvement in morphological properties was also observed. Leaf greenness index (SPAD) was also determined. Its highest value was found in plants from the treatment where the highest dose of the zinc ammonium acetate was applied. Seeds obtained from plants treated with ZAA were riper (ripeness was measured with 1000-seed weight) and had higher germination capacity in relation to control treatments.

Peanut production has decreased, among others, due to cultivation techniques, varieties, diseases and increasingly narrow planting areas. One of the cultivation techniques to increase crop yields is the use of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and spacing. The research method used was Randomized Block Design, factorial pattern. Consisting of two treatment factors, namely POC concentration (0, 5, 10, and 15 ml L-1 water) and spacing (30 cm x 10 cm, 30 cm x 15 cm and 30 cm x 20 cm), repeated three times. .. The results showed that: (1) there was an interaction between POC treatment and plant spacing on the number of pithy seeds and dry seed weight per plot. Independently, liquid organic fertilizer and plant spacing had an effect on plant height, number of leaves, dry weight of stover, number of filled pods, number of empty pods, percentage of filled pods and weight of 100 seeds, and (2) At a spacing of 30 cm x 15 cm, The optimum POC concentration was 13.24 ml L-1 of water, with a maximum dry seed weight of 1.436 kg plot-1 or equivalent to 2.66 tons ha-1.

The current investigation was carried out to examine the selection criteria for yield improvement in selected genotypes of Indian mustard. Twenty-four genotypes of Indian mustard were evaluated for seed yield and yield attributing characters with randomized block design with three replications. The analysis of variance showed significant differences among all the 24 genotypes against all the characters. The phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation were higher for most of the traits like seed yield per plant, number of secondary branches per plant and number of siliquae per plant. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance in percent of mean was registered for number of siliquae per plant, number of primary and secondary branches per plant, plant height, 1000 seed weight, siliqua length per plant and seed yield per plant suggesting predominant role of additive gene action for expression of these traits. The correlation study revealed that seed yield per plant was positively and significantly correlated with number of primary and secondary branches per plant, number of siliquae per plant, siliqua length per plant and 1000 seed weight at both phenotypic and genotypic level. The traits namely, number of secondary branches per plant recorded as highest positive direct effect followed by number of seeds per siliqua, number of siliquae per plant and plant height. Therefore, they may be carried out further evaluation in multilocational trials, biotic and abiotic stress like environmental conditions to check their stability and adaptability.

Long bean production in Indonesia continues to decline every year, this is due to land conversion and the lack of application of agricultural technology. One of the efforts to increase long bean production is by multiplying quality seeds using organic materials as nutrients needed by plants. This study aims to determine the response of the growth and production of long bean seeds to the interaction of strains, varieties with a concentration of liquid organic fertilizer. The research was conducted at the Vegetable Crops Research Institute, Lembang, West Bandung Regency from July 2020 to January 2021. The research method used was an experimental method with a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a split-plot design consisting of 2 factors: the first factor (main plot) (A) was the variety and strain with 2 levels, a1 (Tavi canton variety) and a2 (pras-1 strain). The second factor (subplot) (B) is concentration of biopras-1 with 5 levels, b1 (0 cc/l-1 water), b2 (1 cc/l-1 water), b3 (2 cc/l-1 water), b4 (3 cc/l-1 water) and b5 (4 cc/l-1 water). The effect of the treatment was analyzed by means of variance and if the f test at 5% level was significantly different, then to find out the best treatment was continued with the DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at the 5% level. The results showed that there was an interaction between varieties, lines with various concentrations of biopras-1 liquid organic fertilizer on dry seed weight per plant, dry seed weight per plot, and 1000 seeds weight. Treatment of pras-1 lines with the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer biopras-1 4 cc / l of water was able to give the best results on dry seed weight per plant (35.31 gr), dry seed weight per plot (1.298.20 gr or 2.16 Ton/ha-1) and the weight of 1000 seeds (153.10 gr).

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) is one of the potential substitutes of soybean due to its similar nutritional content. This study aims to determine the optimum rate of N fertilizer for the production of cowpea, and to determine the effects of the interaction between N fertilizer rates and goat manure application on cowpea production. The experiment was organized in a split-plot with a complete randomized block design with three replications. The main plot was goat manure, i.e. 0 and 5 tons.ha-1; the sub-plot was nitrogen fertilizer with five rates (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200% of the recommended rate), i.e. 0, 22.5, 45, 67.5, and 90 kg N.ha-1. Application of N fertilizer reduced the 100-seed weight and slightly reduced cowpea yield and yield components. Application of goat manure increased seed dry weight per plant, number of pods per plant, dry pod weight per plant, seed dry weight per m2, productivity, 100-seed weight, and the harvest index. There was no significant interaction between goat manure and different rates of nitrogen in affecting cowpea growth.
