Background: There is a general consensus that schizophrenia patients have a greater risk to become violent. Caring for schizophrenia patients with risk of violence presents difficult clinical challenges, and it complicates the efforts of nursing student. Analysis of nursing student' barriers may lead to improve nursing management of risk of violence. Objective: The aim of this study is to explore the nursing student barriers in for caring schizophrenia patients with violence risk.Method: A total sample of 22 nursing students completed their experience through reflective diary during clinical placements. The qualitative data were explored by thematic content analysis method using NVivo. Results: Three themes were emerged from the data included: emotions, personal experience, and inadequate communication skills. Conclusion: These themes reflected the barrier of the nursing students when they applied nursing care toward schizophrenia patient with violence risk. Knowing the barriers is very important for successful violence risk management for nursing student.

Depression is always the core field of psychological research, and the analysis of misdiagnosis data of depression is also the vital content of depression research. Based on the analysis of misdiagnosis data processing, this paper adopts a order relation analysis method, to correct the problem of inconsistent entropy and entropy transfer relation (when all entropy value tend to be 1). This paper obtains multi-index comprehensive quantitative values, from various angles analysis of misdiagnosis data depression, so as to avoid subjective and one-sided evaluation results. It not only improves the rapidity and practicability of the algorithm, but also makes the analysis of misdiagnosis data more objective and accurate, which can be applied to medical field.

We develop a Bayesian analysis method for selecting the most probable equation of state under a set of constraints from compact star physics, which now include the tidal deformability from GW170817. We apply this method for the first time to a two-parameter family of hybrid equations of state that is based on realistic models for the hadronic phase (KVORcut02) and the quark matter phase (SFM α ) which produce a third family of hybrid stars in the mass–radius diagram. One parameter ( α ) characterizes the screening of the string tension in the string-flip model of quark matter while the other ( Δ P ) belongs to the mixed phase construction that mimics the thermodynamics of pasta phases and includes the Maxwell construction as a limiting case for Δ P = 0 . We present the corresponding results for compact star properties like mass, radius and tidal deformabilities and use empirical data for them in the newly developed Bayesian analysis method to obtain the probabilities for the model parameters within their considered range.

We agree with Held’s (2020) arguments for establishing a research practice that prevents numerous forms of othering in mainstream psychological research, which is essentially derived from omitting concepts embedded in the lived experience of the other. However, we believe those arguments are not yet sufficient for fulfilling the true potential of such research practice. In this discussion, we focus on accessing a lived experience of the other as a means of preventing epistemic violence that contributes to the oppression of othered people. We suggest that researchers broaden their psychological perspective that detaches concepts and theories from personal experience. To truly meet the other, the narrative approach offers promising potential, as it captures an individual’s lived experience and subjective perspective. Finally, we stress the pivotal role of social interaction in concept and folk theory formation, which is necessary to implement Held’s postulations for Indigenous psychology.

Null hypothesis testing (NHT) is the most commonly used tool in empirical psychological research even though it has several known limitations. It is argued that since the hypotheses evaluated with NHT do not reflect the research-question or theory of the researchers, conclusions from NHT must be formulated with great modesty, that is, they cannot be stated in a confirmative way. Since confirmation or theory evaluation is, however, what researchers often aim for, we present an alternative approach that is based on the specification of explicit, informative statistical hypotheses. The statistical approach for the evaluation of these hypotheses is a Bayesian model-selection procedure. A non-technical explanation of the Bayesian approach is provided and it will be shown that results obtained with this method give more direct answers to the questions asked and are easier to interpret. An additional advantage of the offered possibility to formulate and evaluate informative hypotheses is that it stimulates researchers to more carefully think through and specify their expectations.

Bayesian Mindsponge Framework (BMF, also known as Bayesian Mindsponge analytical approach) is an analytical approach that employs the mindsponge information-processing mechanism and Bayesian analysis (e.g. bayesvl package) as each other’s complement to conduct cognitive and psychological research.

AbstractWe describe a simplified Bayesian analysis of vaccine trial data, in which a reparametrization of the Poisson likelihood leads to a factorization in which the protective vaccine efficacy VES and the nuisance parameter appear in different factors. As a consequence the posterior density acquires a factorized form, and marginalization over the nuisance parameter is trivial. Estimates of VES accordingly become a matter of simple manipulations of one-dimensional posterior probability densities. We demonstrate the method using the publically-released data on the efficacy of three vaccines agains SARS-CoV-2: the final Phase III data from the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna mRNA vaccines and the interim data released for the Sputnik V adenovirus-based vaccine.

Abstract Background: Loneliness is an ontological structure in human existence that can occur in all stages of life. The purpose of this qualitative study was to clarify the meaning and the nature of loneliness in Iranian older adults. Methods: Loneliness in older adults was examined in three phases: (1) the theoretical phase; (2) the fieldwork and (3) the analytical phase. The hybrid concept analysis method was performed to explore the data and synthesis the findings on three key issues including attributes, antecedents, and consequences. Finally, a working definition was synthesized. Results: The critical attributes of loneliness included a variety of topics including suffering, and feeling of worthlessness. Antecedents included distal and proximal factors. The consequences of loneliness in most instances were negative and disturbing. The final definition originated from the theoretical phase and fieldwork was as follows: ‘loneliness is an unpleasant, negative, annoying, hard, scary and painful personal experience that causes feeling of despair, uselessness, hopelessness, depression, anxiety and seeing the world in black’.Conclusion: The findings from this study introduce a new definition for loneliness that includes a combination of attributes, antecedents and consequences for the concept.
