The purpose of this article is to discuss some important aspects involved while writing an article to publish in a scientific journal. This is a review article. I argue that writing an article is technical as well as creative art of an author which facilitates acceptance of article for publication in a scientific journal. Academicians are obliged to conduct research and publish articles to demonstrate their job efficiency. To publish an article in a scientific journal is the first necessary condition to meet standard norms i.e. journal's guideline for authors and the next is to follow the editing processes of the journal. Writing an article for printed version is becoming an old fashion. Therefore, authors need to learn how to submit a scholarly written article online and follow review processes. Writing and publishing of a scientific article is not only important for individuals and specific scientific community, it is also important to the wider society which helps to enhance stock of knowledge, and sharing and learning culture. Counselors as an educator qualification are required to continuously improve and develop academic qualifications and competencies. Professional development is carried out with a variety of things including writing scientific papers. This activity is conducted to provide training of school counselors to write the results of research that has been done, specifically with regard to making scientific articles that are ready to be submitted in reputable national and international journals. The subjects of this service are all Pamekasan school counselors. The method of implementing scientific article writing training activities for Pamekasan counselors is carried out through 3 stages, namely problem identification, implementation and evaluation. Data collection by qualitatively using analysis of interview results and observations of the participants in the activity. Training results show, after participating in this training activity, school counselors in Pamekasan have gained insight, knowledge and skills about writing scientific articles. This training has helped alleviate the workload of school counselors, especially related to scientific publication obligations

AbstractOpen access (OA) to publications has become a major topic in science policy. However, electronic publication providing free access to research via the internet is more than a decade older, was invented in the 1990s and driven by parts of the scientific community. This paper focuses on two disciplines (astronomy and mathematics) in which green OA is well established. It asks how authors and readers use the central disciplinary repository and how they are thereby included in the communication system of their disciplines. Drawing on an interview study with 20 scientists from both disciplines, we analyze the main characteristics of an inclusion, possible problems that result from it and how they are being solved. The empirical results show that there is a complementarity between the routines of authors and readers that co-stabilize each other. This finding suggests that the emergence of complementary routines could be a necessary condition for the green OA model to succeed.

Abstract The Croatian Journal of Fisheries (Croat J Fish) was launched 80 years ago, in 1938, as Ribarstvo, so the current issue of Croat J Fish celebrates this significant event. Since 1992, the Journal was issued quarterly on a regular basis under the name Ribarstvo. However, in 2012 the Journal changed its name to Croatian Journal of Fisheries: Ribarstvo to attract more international audiences. The scope of the Journal has not changed much during its development and has mainly focused on ichthyology, aquaculture, ecology, fish pathology, marine and inland waters and other issues related to fisheries. Nowadays, the Journal tends to be a highquality open-access scientific journal, visible online, of interest to a wide scientific community. Expanding the number of international associate editors also indicates this process. In the segment of publishing strategies, more effort is needed to increase citation activity of the Journal. The Editorial 2018 also provides information on the articles published and the list of reviewers who participated in the review process in 2017.

The role of the scientific journal in the process of solving strategic tasks of information and educational activities is shown. The significance of a scientific article as a publication genre depending on the level of the scientific community and communication goals is revealed. Recommendations for writing and formatting a scientific article from both a substantive and formal point of view are given. The levels of novelty, radicality and originality of scientific articles are justified. The principles of compiling a list of references when writing a scientific article are highlighted.

IntroductionEnglish is the lingua franca of science. How well doctors understand English is therefore crucial for their understanding of scientific articles. However, only 5% of the world’s population have English as their first language.MethodsObjectives: To compare doctors’ comprehension of a scientific article when read in their first language (Norwegian) versus their second language (English). Our hypothesis was that doctors reading the article in Norwegian would comprehend the content better than those reading it in English.Design: Parallel group randomised controlled trial. We randomised doctors to read the same clinical review article in either Norwegian or English, before completing a questionnaire about the content of the article.Setting: Conference in primary care medicine in Norway, 2018.Participants: 130 native Norwegian-speaking doctors, 71 women and 59 men. One participant withdrew before responding to the questionnaire and was excluded from the analyses.Interventions: Participants were randomly assigned to read a review article in either Norwegian (n=64) or English (n=66). Reading time was limited to 7 min followed by 7 min to answer a questionnaire.Main outcome measures: Total score on questions related to the article content (potential range −9 to 20).ResultsDoctors who read the article in Norwegian had a mean total score of 10.40 (SD 3.96) compared with 9.08 (SD 3.47) among doctors who read the article in English, giving a mean difference of 1.32 (95% CI 0.03 to 2.62; p=0.046). Age was independently associated with total score, with decreased comprehension with increasing age.ConclusionThe difference in comprehension between the group who read in Norwegian and the group who read in English was statistically significant but modest, suggesting that the language gap in academia is possible to overcome.

This article provides an overview of writing for publication in peer-reviewed journals. While the main focus is on writing a research article, it also provides guidance on factors influencing journal selection, including journal scope, intended audience for the findings, open access requirements, and journal citation metrics. Finally, it covers the standard content of a scientific journal article, providing general advice and guidance regarding the information researchers would typically include in their published papers.
