Hoax often appears with massive political momentum, such as the atmosphere of the Presidential Election campaign. Its appearance is often related to other issues and can lead to confrontations on social media such as hatred, blasphemy, and humiliation. On October 2, 2018, the news of Ratna Sarumpaet being persecuted appeared on the internet. It was linked to imposing another camp after her several political colleagues echoed the report everywhere. It didn't take a long time for the police officer to uncover the truth, which turned out to be a hoax. The formulation of this research problem is how Detik.com's online news portal frames, selects, and highlights the news about hoax cases created by Ratna Sarumpaet. This study aims to determine the 1) syntactic structure of the online news portal Detik.com through the hoax case about Ratna Sarumpaet, 2) to know how journalists tell the facts (scripts) used by Detik.com by referring to their vision and mission in emphasizing hoax about Ratna Sarumpaet, 3) to understand the thematic structure by identifying the involvement of Detik.com media in reporting hoax cases of Ratna Sarumpaet, and 4) to find out the rhetorical structure by emphasizing the fact in the case of Ratna Sarumpaet's hoax. The researcher used a qualitative research method, with data collection techniques through online media data tracking techniques and by reviewing documents and archives. The analysis theory used was the framing analysis by Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. This research indicates that Detik.com focuses more on high site traffic and a massive amount of visitors or readers. The profit from the income received can maintain good relations between the company and the stakeholders.

AbstractI started from the relative clause which occurs in Hittite, and in particular with the enclitic position of the relative pronoun. This is connected with the OV position and this position seems to have been prevailing in Hittite and PIE. The syntactic structure usually employed in Hittite between different clauses is the parataxis. Nevertheless, also the hypotaxis begins to be employed and the best occasion to use it was the diptych as suggested by Haudry, though he didn't consider the most natural and usual diptych: the law, where the crime and the sanction build a natural diptych already in old Hittite. Then I used Justus' and Boley's discussion on the structure of Hittite sentence and found a similarity with Latin, namely the use of an animate subject as central point of a sentence. With verbs of action in ancient languages the subject was normally an animate being, whereas also inanimate subject is employed in modern languages. This seems to be the major difference between ancient and modern structure of a sentence, or, better to say, in Hittite and PIE the subject was an animate being and this persisted a long time, and remained as a tendency in Latin, while in following languages and in classical grammar the subject became a simple nominal “entity” to be predicated and precised with verb and other linguistic instruments. A glance has been cast also to pronouns and particles (sometimes linked together) as instruments of linking nominal variants of coordinate or subordinate clauses and to the development of demonstrative/deictic pronouns. Also in ancient case theory a prevailing position was assured to the nominative case, the case of the subject.

This article examines the boundary work of frames and the methodological significance of understanding this work when conducting rhetorical framing analysis. While the boundary properties of frames have been theorized by scholars, there remains a lack of clear engagement with how to effectively address these discursive boundaries methodically. I argue that agenda-dismissal, which makes use of both prolepses and blind spots, ought to be addressed in addition to agenda-setting and agenda-extension when conducting rhetorical framing analysis. A case study is provided in which the rhetorical framing of vegan parenting in online news media is analyzed and critiqued for confining the issue within a dominant health-based frame. Strategies for dismantling discursive boundaries and reframing public issues are also considered within the context of the case study.

Islam has been known as a religion of Rahmatn lil’alamiin which guarantees inclusion and maintains a treatise on all humanity. However, the interpretation of universality of Islam does not meet a common understanding even though within Muslim community itself. Those diverse interpretations have resulted in how the universality of Islam has been expressed. One of those quarrels toward interpretation is the discussion of Islam Nusantara. West Sumatera is one of the regions in Indonesia which implements Islamic law as its customary law in which rejection against Islam Nusantara has been echoed across the borders. The rejection caused reactions from various parties since West Sumatera strongly stated the rejection as a way for preserving it. Those dispute has been sharpened by the online news in several Indonesian media that began to raise the phenomenon up. This research aim to find out how those medias frame the news and whether online media contribute on minimizing public tensions. This research used descriptive method with qualitative approach. The source of the data focused on Indonesian online media news on 2018 and was analyzed with framing analysis from Robert N. Entman and also using the concept of treatment recommendation as an analyzes of dispute resolution. The results discovered that media with its framing analysis technique has their own moral judgement and treatment recommendation as a form of dispute resolution towards discourses in the media. This moral judgment can show the tendency and alignment of a media regarding an issue. In addition, the media also has an important role in developing the audience’s mindset in the midst of dispute it can be analyzed from the treatment recommendation that can be used as a media based dispute resolution.

Human activity recognition (HAR) using deep neural networks has become a hot topic in human–computer interaction. Machines can effectively identify human naturalistic activities by learning from a large collection of sensor data. Activity recognition is not only an interesting research problem but also has many real-world practical applications. Based on the success of residual networks in achieving a high level of aesthetic representation of automatic learning, we propose a novel asymmetric residual network, named ARN. ARN is implemented using two identical path frameworks consisting of (1) a short time window, which is used to capture spatial features, and (2) a long time window, which is used to capture fine temporal features. The long time window path can be made very lightweight by reducing its channel capacity, while still being able to learn useful temporal representations for activity recognition. In this paper, we mainly focus on proposing a new model to improve the accuracy of HAR. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the ARN model, we carried out extensive experiments on benchmark datasets (i.e., OPPORTUNITY, UniMiB-SHAR) and compared the results with some conventional and state-of-the-art learning-based methods. We discuss the influence of networks parameters on performance to provide insights about its optimization. Results from our experiments show that ARN is effective in recognizing human activities via wearable datasets.

Since the late 1990s, the technical group at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psycholinguistics has worked on solutions for important challenges in building sustainable data archives, in particular, how to guarantee long-time-availability of digital research data for future research. The support for the well-known DOBES (Documentation of Endangered Languages) programme has greatly inspired and advanced this work, and lead to the ongoing development of a whole suite of tools for annotating, cataloguing and archiving multi-media data. At the core of the LAT (Language Archiving Technology) tools is the IMDI metadata schema, now being integrated into a larger network of digital resources in the European CLARIN project. The multi-media annotator ELAN (with its web-based cousin ANNEX) is now well known not only among documentary linguists. We aim at presenting an overview of the solutions, both achieved and in development, for creating and exploiting sustainable digital data, in particular in the area of documenting languages and cultures, and their interfaces with related other developments.

Environmental problems are still an important issue and cannot be resolved completely until now, even after the 1970s the United Nations established a world environmental day. Plastic waste is considered the most responsible for the problems of environmental damage today. Therefore, an innovation that comes from biodegradable material, with its biodegradable product is considered to be the answer to this environmental problem. This study examines how reporting on the environment is framed in online mass media, especially in relation to biodegradable material and biodegradable products. This is qualitative research, with the object of two Indonesian online news sites, namely www.detik.com and www.okezone.com. Data collection techniques used is document studies and data analysis techniques employed is Robert N. Entman's Framing analysis model which involves four elements, namely: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. The findings of this study are that environmental issues have not dominated online media coverage, and the biodegradable issue has not been framed thoroughly by online media.

Environmental discourse is considered as one of the essential narratives since it involves the role of women. In the gender perspective, women in environmental issues are often described as a sidekick. Farwiza Farhan is one of the environmentalists who contributes to the environmental campaign effort. The study aims to focus on the framing of Farwiza Farhan’s figure against her contribution as the keeper of the Leuser Ecosystem (KEL) on online media environmental reports. This study used the Framing Analysis approach, Environmental Journalism, and Heroism concept. The researchers chose and analyzed three news from online news media: serambinews. com as a local source; and republika. co. id and bbc. com as national sources. This research was analyzed by using Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki’s Framing Analysis method. The finding shows that the news media frames Farwiza Farhan as an environmental activist with a heroism narrative. Farwiza is portrayed as a heroic, selfless, courageous, and intelligent personality. She is adaptive and determined to deal with conflict, and she also has initiative and leadership. Heroism is perceived as an environmental perspective-journalism strategy of online news media to deliver environmental knowledge and to raise public awareness towards the environmental issue.

Distance learning has already become a part of the educational process. In this regard, questions appear concerning its organization and the solution of specific problems. They include laboratory workshops, which is an integral part of the educational process in higher education since laboratory works allow students to gain knowledge and acquire skills, which is a prerequisite for the formation of their specialist competence. The problems of obtaining educational information during distance learning can be quite successfully solved. However, the acquisition of experimental skills remains an educational, scientific, and methodological problem that requires a solution. The article defines the peculiarities of using virtual laboratory workshops in the online education of students studying the discipline “Inorganic Chemistry”. The theoretic analysis of the main statements of the research problem was presented in the article. The results of the experimental study have proved that the use of computer modeling and the tools of a virtual laboratory when studying chemistry disciplines increases the educational achievements of the students, regardless of the initial level of knowledge. A prerequisite for the effective acquisition of skills by students is the systematic use of virtual laboratory tools. With the occasional use of virtual laboratory instruments, the skills obtained during the experiment were not learned or were not learned for a long time. The use of virtual laboratories provides independent training for students, increases motivation to master new material. Students focus on the experimental process, not on equipment and tools, as it happens in a real laboratory, which can become both a positive and a negative aspect of acquiring practical skills of future engineers, doctors, and pharmacists.
