The balanced socio-economic development of the country’s regions arises from the balanced development of several economic systems. For this, the most important factor is to determine areas that stimulate development at an early stage. Thus, the growth of all economic sectors at the same rate does not mean the formation of a generally balanced development. For this, the composition of the economic process and the role of the labor market in the motivating factors must always be measured. A question arises, what is the importance of the division of the role of the labor market in these areas? Firstly, the main goal should be to achieve economic development and prosperity. Economic development itself will regularly play the role of impetus in the development of the social sphere. In general, the end result of all economic processes is to further improve the social welfare of the population. Taking into account the above mentioned, the impact of labor market indicators on other economic indicators for the regions of the country was assessed and analyzed in accordance with international methodology. For this, the economic indicators of the last 20 years were taken and the research work was conducted. The research identified main shortcomings and their solutions were shown in accordance with international methodologies. To this end, research is needed to be conducted to identify shortcomings that are always lacking in order to achieve full results in economic policies in future.

The study of some indicators of the components of socio-economic development of the region on the example of Vinnytsia region, namely production, financial, demographic, scientific and technical, social, environmental. It is stated that the provision of socio-economic development of the territorial community is realized through the financial content of the social sphere at the expense of own municipal funds and subsidies from the state budget. The assessment of expenditures proves that the social protection of the Vinnytsia region ensures compliance with the constitutional guarantees of citizens. The studied indicators of the Vinnytsia region prove that the socio-economic development of the community is aimed at ensuring the statutory guarantees of social protection of citizens, as well as streamlining the existing system of municipal assistance, benefits and compensation. One of the most successful system technologies that allows you to assess the impact of external and internal factors is a SWOT-analysis. The results of the SWOT analysis make it possible to assess the ability to withstand threats, as well as to overcome internal shortcomings. Thus, the internal factors of socio-economic development of the Vinnytsia region are dominated by strengths. With regard to agriculture and industry, the situation in the region is currently exacerbated by a shortage of skilled labor, namely, specialists in engineering and manufacturing. External labor migration increases the risk of further development of the labor industry. Declared indicators of socio-economic development of the territorial community are considered in terms of a set of different social and economic goals, rational and reasonable use of municipal and state financial resources. The given separate indicators characterizing social and economic development of territorial community allow to define acceptability of conditions for life and development of the person, social and economic stability of community. Changes in social and economic indicators under the influence of internal factors are the basis for the formation of qualitative socio-economic development of the region and the state as a whole.

The general conditions for ensuring and forming a decent quality of working life are assessed on the basis of changes in macroeconomic indicators of economic development in general and the digital sector with the determination of the efficiency of living labor costs. The share of the digital sector in the structure of the national economy, labor productivity of employees in the digital sector compared to national indicators are characterized. The dynamics of changes in the main socio-economic indicators of the development of the labor sphere of Ukraine for 2013-2020 and the structural transformation of employment by type of economic activity are analyzed. Changes in precariat in Ukraine for 2013-2020 and its share in the employed population are estimated. The characteristics of the dynamics of nominal, average, minimum wages for 2013-2020 in the context of ensuring the quality of working life are given. The social orientations in the system of remuneration and changes of social and economic indicators in Ukraine for the studied period are analyzed. The results of subjective assessment of working conditions, the level of dissatisfaction with their work are presented. It is concluded that the digitalization of the economy promotes the spread of non-standard forms of employment and creates new opportunities for employment in the labor market, and at the same time generates shadowing of employment, hidden unemployment and part-time employment, which limits the impact of high quality of life. It is proved that the low level of economic development and insignificant level of ICT implementation, technical and technological backwardness of national production have not affected the labor market, so far it has not changed under the influence of digital technologies.

This chapter is concerned with the role of oil and gas in the economic development of the global economy. It focuses on the context in which established and newer oil and gas producers in developing countries must frame their policies to optimize the benefits of such resources. It outlines a history of the issue over the last twenty-five years. It considers oil and gas as factor inputs, their role in global trade, the role of oil prices in the macroeconomy and the impact of the geopolitics of oil and gas. It then considers various conventional views of the future of oil and gas in the primary energy mix. Finally, it challenges the drivers behind these conventional views of the future with an emphasis on why they may prove to be different from what is expected and how this may change the context in which producers must frame their policy responses.

Dr. Kanter presents a summary of his research assessing the role of OTC advertising in Influencing drug usage. His work represents the only systematic study of the impact of commercial advertising on drug usage. He stresses that advertising in itself does not directly lead to drug misuse but should be considered as part of a host of factors in the social environment and in the media environment that have significant influence in determining people's behavior. He also urged that the existing pharmaceutical advertising codes, which are often violated, be reviewed and strengthened.

AbstractA contact-tracing strategy has been deemed necessary to contain the spread of COVID-19 following the relaxation of lockdown measures. Using an agent-based model, we explore one of the technology-based strategies proposed, a contact-tracing smartphone app. The model simulates the spread of COVID-19 in a population of agents on an urban scale. Agents are heterogeneous in their characteristics and are linked in a multi-layered network representing the social structure—including households, friendships, employment and schools. We explore the interplay of various adoption rates of the contact-tracing app, different levels of testing capacity, and behavioural factors to assess the impact on the epidemic. Results suggest that a contact tracing app can contribute substantially to reducing infection rates in the population when accompanied by a sufficient testing capacity or when the testing policy prioritises symptomatic cases. As user rate increases, prevalence of infection decreases. With that, when symptomatic cases are not prioritised for testing, a high rate of app users can generate an extensive increase in the demand for testing, which, if not met with adequate supply, may render the app counterproductive. This points to the crucial role of an efficient testing policy and the necessity to upscale testing capacity.

This article examines the impact of institutional, financial, and economic development on firms’ access to finance in Latin America and Caribbean region. Based on firm- and country-level data from the World Bank databases, we employ an ordered logit model to understand the direct and moderating role of institutional, financial, and economic development in determining firms’ financial obstacles. The results show that older, larger, facing less competition and regulation burden, foreign owned, and affiliated firms report lower obstacles to finance. Second, better macro-fundamentals help to lessen the level of obstacles substantially. Third, the role of institutions in promoting firms’ inclusive finance is quite different to the role of financial development and economic growth. JEL classification: E02; G10; O16; P48
