The article considers the role of foreign language, foreign language learning to students of non-linguistic spe-cialties is valuable for specialist development. Teaching of foreign language in non-linguistic universities has particular relevance, since foreign language communication in the professional activities of modern special-ists is characterized by increasing importance in the context of globalization and providing for the formation of students' ability to speak foreign languages in specific professional, business, scientific fields and situa-tions taking into account the features of professional thinking. Despite the development of the educational process organization, the difficulty of learning is that mastering a foreign language occurs outside the lan-guage environment with a limited number of hours. In the classroom, the task of developing students' speech skills is solved by performing a large number of language and speech exercises. In this regard, it should be noted the importance of extracurricular activities in a foreign language, which is particular relevance in achieving the subject, interdisciplinary and personal results of education. The problem of communicative skills formation of non-linguistic specialties’ students is one of the urgent problems, since graduates must have not only professional, but also experience of social, socio — cultural relations, who are able to show not only knowledge in a certain area, but also social initiative, develop performance in a team work. Teaching foreign languages for students of non-linguistic specialties has a professional-oriented basis. The students of non-linguistic specialties have a professionally-oriented basis for teaching of foreign languages, and the role of digital technologies should be noted too, what are widely used during the classes.

The article is devoted to the problem of socialization of an individual in the process of foreign language learning, which is a part of multicultural education and is considered as an important tool for a person's adaptation in a multicultural society. The leading idea of the article is the assertion that foreign language as a discipline has a huge socializing potential, as in the process of a foreign language learning, not only the active development of natural resources, abilities, initiative, independence, take place, but also, assimilation of generally accepted in a society socio- cultural rules and moral norms, which plays a crucial role in the process of socialization is activated. Since the main goal of the educational process in foreign languages is the formation of the very communicative skills, its contribution to the process of socialization of a man is indisputable. In this sense, the following characteristics of the learning process in a foreign language are important: the focus on communication, respect for the identity and culture of other peoples, the focus on social activities, the acquisition of social experience in solving life and social problems, and the creation of its own system of life priorities. The communicative method of teaching foreign languages is based on the fact that the learning process is a model of communication. The learning process in foreign languages is based on the linguistic partnership, creative collaboration, constant motivation of communication, based on a combination of such interconnected factors as activity, creativity, autonomy, individualization, which contribute to the intensification of cognitive and educational processes. That is, organization of training in the form of communication is the main methodological task of a modern teacher of foreign languages. It is this specificity of the discipline "foreign language" that is capable of effective implementing educational socialization, helping to complete the formation of the students' ability to communicate, co- exist and cooperate in the professional activities of people of different ethnic groups, the formation of a rich experience of social and cultural communication, which is a solid base for the involvement of learners to the global values of civilization.

The article considers the issue of taking into account the psychological characteristics of students in the study of a foreign language for professional purposes. It was analyzed the methodological aspects of taking into account psychological features in teaching a foreign language. Emphasis is placed on the need and importance of taking into account the psychological characteristics of students in the process of learning a foreign language for professional purposes. The main psychological factors of learning a foreign language are identified. Among the main psychological factors are: motivation and interest in language learning, temperament, memory, ability to learn languages, language barrier. Motivation is a major factor in language learning. Only the motivation to succeed can bring results in language learning. Psychological comfort in the classroom is a way to realize their importance in society, trying to get the most information for successful self-development. Under the condition of complete psychological comfort, the intensive development of mental processes and imagination, the improvement of memory, and the ability to communicate begin. Activating memorization processes also plays an important role in foreign language learning. The human brain is a complex mechanism and the main indicator of its efficiency is attention. If attention is reduced, a person can hardly concentrate. The article states that the success of learning a foreign language is determined by a combination of factors: motivational, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, psychophysiological and interactive. This means that the psychological aspects of learning a foreign language determine not only the goals and objectives of teaching, motivation, interest of students, but also the methods and approaches to learning. Emphasis is placed on the need to constantly search for new opportunities and ways to form and improve methods of learning a foreign language for professional purposes. The leading idea of the article is that taking into account the psychological, pedagogical and individual characteristics of students in the study of a foreign language for professional purposes allows to introduce new technologies into the educational process, increase learning efficiency, develop language skills and competencies, develop creative abilities, increase independent and extracurricular activities.

The article discusses the issues of teaching professionally-oriented foreign languages to students of non-linguistic specialties, which are especially relevant due to the growing role of foreign language communication in the professional activities of modern professionals. The need for the formation and development of communication skills that are important for effective professional activity of students is indicated. The goals and objectives of teaching a foreign language in a professional direction are defined, attention is paid to the importance of its integration with special disciplines, ways to solve the difficulties that arise in the selection and learning process with an emphasis on the content of the necessary materials. In addition, the article analyzes the main factors of effective teaching of a professionally-oriented foreign language and describes the role of educational materials as a means of forming and developing students’ motivation to learn a professional foreign language.

This article examines the role of grammar in learning a foreign language. The authors of the article proceed from the position that in teaching speaking, grammar is of fundamental importance, representing a basis for further study of vocabulary, build sentences, and eventually speaking, i.e. fluency in a foreign language. The authors review the existing in scientific literature approaches to the study of grammar and stress the urgency of this problem, because for a long time discussed in this article aspect of foreign language teaching remains a subject of debate among scientists - methodologists. However, despite the existence of various approaches and methods, according to which language learning does not involve a mandatory and systematic study of the grammatical laws and regulations in the modern domestic and foreign methods of teaching foreign language are traditionally considered to be that mastering a foreign language is impossible without studying the grammatical structure of the language, but also rules of change of words, their compounds in combination and suggestions. It is noted that the methodology of teaching foreign languages traditionally distinguishes two approaches: implicit and explicit, each of which is characterized by their methods of delivery of grammar. It is concluded that the formation of grammar skills is a complex and lengthy process, therefore the teacher's task is to pick an approach and exercise system that quickly and efficiently helped the trainees to master the grammar of a foreign language.

The article is deals with the search for effective ways to organize independent work of students of non-language educational institutions. The author notes that the modernization of national education requires consideration of integration processes in European and world education. In this regard, it is necessary to ensure a modern attitude to educational standards, change the content of education, make adjustments to the direction of the educational process, approve a personality-oriented pedagogical system, introduce innovative teaching methods. The main purpose of teaching foreign languages in higher non-language institutions is to prepare specialists for practical knowledge of a foreign professionally oriented language. Mastering a foreign language is considered as the acquisition by students of communicative competence for practical use of a foreign language, namely: work with relevant foreign literature on the specialty, participate in conversation and international conferences, write articles in a foreign language, correspond with foreign partners. The main goals of students' individualization of foreign language learning include the following: filling gaps in the level of foreign language proficiency and timely elimination of the gap; development of intellectual outlook, mental qualities of the personality of students who play a leading role in mastering foreign language speech; formation of an individual style of mastering a foreign language; creating a positive emotional background of the educational process. In the context of an individually oriented approach to teaching foreign languages in the theory and practice of teaching, the concepts of autonomous learning stand out. Studies of the theory and practice of teaching a foreign language to students show that the introduction into the educational process of three main types of different types of independent work (copying, reproducing and creative) is quite appropriate. Recent studies have shown that the number of international students, who are academically mobile, is growing. As a result, higher education institutions aim at competitiveness in the world market. Therefore, the core issue of the following work is a process of adaptation of international students to a new educational environment, especially to the process of English teaching and learning in new frameworks. Thus, the purpose of the study is to understand the role of a language teacher in the process of international students’ foreign language learning by comparing faculty’s and students’ views on certain aspects of the educational process. For the following study, quantitative and qualitative methods to collect data using questionnaires with closed-ended and open-ended questions were applied, and the data analysis was carried out. The data obtained from the conducted survey reveals the importance of studying English for international students, their motivation and difficulties that they have to face. Moreover, the obtained data show the great complexity of the English syllabus and ways of its adaptation to the needs of international students. Furthermore, the results of the survey determine an important role of the professional culture of the second language teacher in the context of integrating students into the Russian academic environment.

Communicative skills are the leading tendency in the modern methods of teaching foreign languages. The article deals with the aim of such a system of teaching – the establishment of foreign language competence which contributes to the students’ communicative skills. One of the most important component of communicative competence is language competence, that provides on the basis of a decent amount of knowledge as the construction of grammatically correct forms and syntactic constructions, as an understanding the semantic segments of language, organized in accordance with the norms of a foreign language. Undoubtedly, verbal communication is possible only in the presence of language competence. However, removing only the language barrier does not automatically lead to a full-fledged foreign language communication. Rapid growth of international relations puts an increasing number of communicators in need of overcoming not only linguistic, but also cultural and mental barriers. Vocabulary teaching as an integral part of communicative and systemic aspects of foreign language learning is featured. Communication – based techniques of mastering lexical material are proposed. Mastering the purpose of the word, the conceptual functioning of lexical material is aimed at achieving adequate implementation of communicative intent. Useful for the formation and improvement of communication skills is the method of enriching the vocabulary of students by providing synonymous series with an explanation of the difference of meaning. Thus, learning a foreign language is communicatively oriented, so the leading component of the four-single complex of goals is the mastery of language skills for foreign language communication, taking into account its intention, addressee and conditions. Further development of tools and techniques for the formation of components of communicative competence will continue to be relevant in teaching foreign languages to students of non-language higher education institutions, that opens up opportunities for scientific and creative research.

The article tackles the problem of teaching foreign languages to seniors. The general trends in FL education for the third-age learners are outlined. The institutions in which seniors can study foreign languages in Poland are enumerated. The psychological, physiological, methodological and social peculiarities of teaching a foreign language to the third agers are analyzed. Special emphasis is laid upon educational needs of the Third Age learners. Some language learning strategies which help seniors’ foreign language learning are suggested.

This paper reports on an ongoing study into the affordances of free online machine translation for students learning English as a foreign language (EFL) at the tertiary level in Japan. The researchers are currently collecting data from a questionnaire, task performance, and interviews with 10-15 EFL learners in an English Language Institute in a university in Japan. The paper provides some background on the changing role of translation in language learning theory and pedagogy, before focusing literature related to technical developments in machine translation technology, and its application to foreign language learning. An overview of the research methodology is provided, along with some insights into potential findings. Findings will be presented in subsequent publications.
