In the modern world, foreign languages are a tool being used in work by many young persons, and as a consequence – students are interested in the practical knowledge of a foreign language. There are not many useful tools to learn Russian on the market, and those available do not satisfy the needs, so we use different methods in the process of teaching – exercises with the elements of competition, games and its mechanics (e.g. our original project of a language game, city language game). It allows us to watch to which extent students are aware of group processes they participate in, and how those processes influence their motivation to learn a foreign language. The results of our research show that the methods we use have the impact on the social competencies of students and the effect they have on each other is linked directly with their motivation to improve their language skills. It is crucial to recognise the impact of group processes on a person, because when these processes are efficiently managed they become a useful tool in planning the strategy of teaching in order to improve students’ efficiency in obtaining their goals. However, the group influence on a single person and the facilitation are not new issues, they are still interesting and requiring new research.

This study investigates the impact of strategic notetaking on English as Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ academic performance among university students in Jordan. Thus, we hypothesized that there is a significant and positive impact of strategic note-taking on EFL learners’ academic performance. To confirm this hypothesis, descriptive research design was applied in this study. 384 (three hundred and eighty-four) respondents were randomly selected from the four public universities in Jordan. This study adapted instruments which include strategic note taking and students’ academic performance measurement items and the data obtained was analysed through Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS-22). The result showed that the strategic note taking (i.e. independent variable) has significant effects on EFL learners’ academic performance (R2 =.919). Moreover, the strategic notetaking made the significant contribution (Beta= .449; t= 18.714; P <0.05) to the prediction of EFL learners’ academic performance. In line with the findings, this study emphasised and explained the impact of strategic notetaking and how to improve EFL learners’ level of notetaking for better academic performance in Jordan.

ABSTRACTThis paper analyses the satisfaction level of teachers of English in Preschool and Primary Education in the Principality of Asturias (Spain). The sample was composed of 238 teachers from 68 schools and the research tool was a 45-item questionnaire. Data were processed with SPSS, and variance analyses were performed to assess the impact of the variables considered. The main results confirm that general satisfaction is rather high, although it is possible to identify improvement proposals in relation to the social recognition of teaching, the professional status and the acknowledgement of the teaching activity by education authorities. In addition, the results show that age, educational stage, and administrative status influence teachers’ satisfaction. The modern world puts great demands on people when it comes to understanding its purpose and meaning, which undoubtedly changes the lives of individuals and social groups. People are particularly concerned about the possibility of freeing themselves from imposed group ties, enjoying the rights of a citizen and a member of a community, and the way in which freedom is exercised without restrictions. What has so far been a well-established basis for human activity and the maintenance of the existing order is now losing its importance, and is being replaced by new life opportunities. The authority of traditional social structures such as the social class, local community or family has declined. Normative and axiological systems, and consequently the quality of functioning of the contemporary family, its structure, scope of performed duties and relations within a family, have also undergone transformations. It is becoming increasingly common for adults who form the main axis of the family to decide on a divorce. This is not conducive to the optimum development of children, as they lose the sense of security, trust in adults, fail to fulfil their own lives and even doubt about the existence of true unselfish love. Parents' divorce decisions often result in emotional and motivational disorders which are manifested by difficulties in establishing social contacts, building profound relationships and coping with difficult situations. The paper shows the results of exploratory research on how adults brought up in divorced single-parent families can function in the social and professional environment. The research employs the diagnostic survey method using the auditorium questionnaire and the “100 Sentences – 100 Opinions” tool by Mirosław J. Szymański. The results of the research clearly show that adults brought up in single-parent families are involved very differently in social and professional life. They build their short- and long-term professional and personal goals in distinct ways. Personal and social characteristics of the respondents are the factors determining the observed activity. The research results are in line with the relevant literature and prove the impact of growing up in a single-parent family on children's activity in adult life.

Many studies have focused on estimating the impact of automation on work around the world with results ranging widely. Despite the disagreement about the level of impact that automation will have, experts agree that new technologies tend to be applied to every economic sector, thus impacting work regardless of substituting or complementing it. The purpose of this study is to move on from the discussion about the size of the impact of automation to understanding the main social impacts that automation will cause and what actions should be taken to deal with them. For this purpose, we reviewed literature about technological unemployment found in Scopus and Web of Science published since 2000, presenting an academic view of the actions necessary to deal with the social impact of automation. Our results summarize causes, consequences, and solutions for the technological unemployment found in the literature. We also found that the literature is mainly concentrated on the areas of economy, sociology, and philosophy, with the authors situated in developed economies such as the USA, Europe, and New Zealand. Finally, we present the research agenda proposed by the reviewed papers that could motivate new research on the subject.

Welcome to this, the first issue of the International Modern Perspectives on Academia and Community Today (IMPACT) Journal. In creating this Journal and producing this first issue we have proven that multidisciplinary working is possible. Moreover, we have shown that as academics, we have the power to challenge the norms and work in innovative ways within the contexts of our institutions. Thinking and working in innovative ways reflects on our practices as we reimagine our work and role in working with the community. Through the creation of a multidisciplinary Journal, we intend to provide a platform that will not only host approaches used in various disciplines but will also act as a merging point by putting forward perspectives from the communities alongside academic work. In doing so, we hope to promote new forms of dialogue, which have the potential to generate new research directions, and help cement the notion that academia and community are intertwined rather than separate entities within the social relations. The purpose of academic practice is to serve the needs of the community as both members of the community and academics who adopt an advocacy standpoint. Therefore, we hope that through the collaborative working practices underpinning this initiative we can achieve our aim to promote community involvement and engagement and meaningful contribution in the short and long term.

This article is devoted to the processes of intercultural integration leading to modernization of the content of modern language education in Kazakhstan. Expanding the range of international cooperation of Kazakhstan, increasing the social importance of foreign language and the desire of citizens for lifelong education stimulate the intensification of the development of foreign language education in our country. Therefore, an important aspect of the study is the research for the study and synthesis of the best pedagogical experience of teaching a foreign language, as a result of foreign language education in the context of informatization of education. Modernization of education implies changing the goals and planned result of education, reducing the volume of compulsory content, changing the methods and technologies of content mastering at all levels of education, individualization of the learning process, and the possibility of variable education systems. In this direction, it is necessary to take into account the psychological and pedagogical conditions of teaching a foreign language, which could contribute to stimulate communication, cognitive, game and other activities of the student; provide free communication in the group, and an opportunity to choose educational programs and training technologies.

Abstract Background: Critical illness and long-term or repeated hospitalization can affect normal adolescent development. As a result, adolescents may feel isolated and “misplaced” on both pediatric and adult departments. The mission of the Center of Adolescent Medicine is to improve conditions for adolescent patients. To achieve this, the social educator offers an individualized social-pedagogical intervention for young people during long-term or repeated hospitalization. Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the impact of the social-pedagogical intervention using a qualitative approach. Materials and methods: A trained anthropologist interviewed seven adolescents who had individual sessions with a social educator during their hospital stay. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim, and the transcripts were coded and thematized continuously. Results: Through qualitative analysis, the following themes emerged: Recreation; Structure, participation, and motivation; and Friends and social network. The social-pedagogical approach is a combination of interpersonal relationships and individually tailored recreational activities. Even small entertaining activities changed the focus from patient identity and contributed to the feeling of being “normal.” All young patients reported that the increased opportunities for decision-making and influence on the daily structure supported the feeling of being recognized and respected as an individual person as well as increased their motivation to go through their treatment. The interviewees emphasized the importance of experiencing something that was worth telling their friends about to help them stay in touch. Conclusion: Although the young patients emphasized the recreational aspects, the time spent with the social educator facilitated training in social competencies as well as conversations about emotional and sensitive topics.
