The present study aims to analyze the process of the film adaptation with the help of a hermeneutic framework that covers the textual and contextual parameters. The current study builds affinities between adaptation, translation, and culture studies, junctures these theoretical aspects, and offers methodological and analytical tools for the study of the film adaptation. The model also provides a systematic analysis for the changes occurring in the process of adaptation (i.e., adaptation shifts) and interprets its socio-cultural bearings using a postmodernist lens. The study employs Mixed-Methods Sequential Explanatory Design to analyze and interpret the adaptation shifts in Manto. The results of the study look to be the nexus of forces that influence the adaptation process as a creative practice in the broader socio-cultural system and verify the interplay of adapter's re-interpretative, re-creative touch and social circumstances of a particular era.

Perhaps more than any author, Stallings exemplified the multimedia and collaborative nature of World War I writing in America. Following his bitter anti-war novel Plumes, Stallings co-authored the popular play What Price Glory with Maxwell Anderson, which led to Stallings’s involvement in The Big Parade—one of the most lucrative films of the silent era—and a film adaptation of What Price Glory As well as his diversity of representational forms, Stallings’s war writing was marked by an increasingly positive attitude to warfare, which emerged in his later short stories and his World War I history, The Doughboys.

Neural networks with deep learning and reinforcement are able to compose poetry and music, draw paintings, and write short stories, as well as come up with scripts for films. Functional ensembles of harmoniously interacting intellectual agents with living information can virtually model creativity for various spheres of life activity. Virtual modeling of creativity by harmoniously interacting intellectual agents is carried out based on living creative processes represented by acts of creation accumulated by humanity in a certain sphere of life. Live information of creative acts of creation for functional ensembles from harmoniously interacting intellectual agents is revealed from the effective creative practice of specialists in specific conditions and presented in the format of smart ethical communicative-associative cases. To model creativity, a virtual environment of a certain sphere of activity is formed, in which the ensemble gives birth to a creative fruit according to the plan of a specialist. Functional ensembles of harmoniously interacting intellectual agents with live creative practice can cooperate with a person, and can also independently virtually model the creative creation of new designs of a specialist, if the ensemble has enough acts of creation.

A literature is a reflection of real world reality. A writer wrote it in a literary work. One of the themes of short stories in Indonesia is the theme of women's resistance in traditional and cultural circles. The short story "The First Night of a Priest" by Gde Aryantha Soethama tries to offer the theme. The main character in the short story is Ni Krining, a Balinese woman from a lower caste who is married to a Brahman caste. The situation makes Ni Krining must accept polygamy. Behind his sacrifice, Ni Krining has resisted the cultural system in his environment and made his existence recognized. This study uses an existentialist feminism study to explore various reasons that make Ni Krining gain recognition in its environment which is dominated by patriarchal culture.

This article utilizes the theory of narrative style which is interesting from both the standpoint of literary stylistics as well as from that of the theory of communication. In this framework, the relation of a narrator to a reader is the basic relationship underlying all narrative structures. According to this basic relationship a number of ways of narration are differentiated or, as Mc Hale (1978) calls them represented/reported discourse. This article endeavours a systematic analysis of the stylistic devices used in fictional writing for the representation of a character’s speech and thought. So, the present study attempts to analyze the interaction between categories of speech and thought presentation in James Joyce’s Dubliners by applying Leech and Short Model (2007). Excerpts of 2000-word length have been selected and manually tagged to have the accurate annotation keeping in mind the contextual potential to recognize discourse categories in Joyce fiction and then corpus software AntConc (Laurence Anthony, 2018) was used to get quantitative results. Since fictional texts display the tendency to move between categories of speech and thought presentation as well as between the modes within one category and its demarcation is a real challenge to the researchers. The practical part of research was done on the basis of short stories from James Joyce’s Dubliners. Special emphasis is given to variations between the two modes as well as to the instances of ambiguity created by their interplay.
