ABSTRACTConduct Disorder (CD) can pose serious concerns to parents, home and the society, meanwhile assessing this construct in clinical practice has been based on western concepts which limited the cultural factors implicated in CD. This study presents a reliable and valid screening tools for conduct disorder among juveniles and general population respectively. Existing scales that assessed deviant behavior or CD were reviewed. A qualitative study was conducted using juveniles and college students between the age 10 to 19; this is to determine salient constructs related to CD. Themes were generated, and those related to specific predictors of CD were used to generate a 17-item of Brief Propensity Index for Conduct Disorder (BPI-CD). A cross-sectional survey was then conducted among 125 juveniles and college students to assess the reliability and validity of the scale. The participants were purposively selected. Construct validity using exploratory factor analysis was factored and Varimax rotated the scale into six components (KMO = .685, df=171, p<.001). Convergent validity results showed a significant relationship between BPI-CD and Youth Deviant Behavior Variety Scale (r=.338, p<.01), while discriminant validity results revealed a non-significant relationship between (BPI-CD) and Social Skills Scale (r=.101, p>.05), thus showing a strong validity. The reliability dimensions and subscales have meritorious reliability (Aggression to People/Animals, α =.76, Serious Violation of rule and destruction of property, α =.73; Deceitfulness and theft, α =.68). The overall Cronbach’s Alpha was 0.86. BPI-CD is therefore recommended as reliable and valid screening tool for conduct disorder tendency.

Introduction: Beliefs about the consequences of stress, stress mindsets, are associated with health and performance outcomes under stress. This article reports the development and examination of the psychometric properties of a measure of stress mindset: The Stress Control Mindset Measure (SCMM). The measure is consistent with theory on mindsets about self-attributes and conceptualizes stress mindset as the extent to which individuals endorse beliefs that stress can be enhancing. Methods: The study adopted a correlational cross-sectional survey design in two student samples. Undergraduate students from an Australian university (Sample 1, N = 218) and a UK university (Sample 2, N = 214) completed the SCMM and measures of health and wellbeing outcomes. Results: Confirmatory factor analyses supported a four-factor structure and strict measurement invariance across samples (ΔCFI < .01). Reliability, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and concurrent validity of the overall SCMM was supported in both samples. Incremental validity was supported for most outcomes, accounting for significantly more variance (between 2.2% and 5.9%) in health and wellbeing outcomes than an existing measure. Conclusions: Current data provide preliminary support for the SCMM as a reliable and valid measure with good psychometric properties and theoretically consistent relations with health outcomes under stress. Findings provide initial evidence supporting the potential utility of the SCMM in future research examining relations between stress mindsets and health and performance outcomes.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Beliefs Toward Mental Illness Scale (BMI) across women from the United States, Japan, and South Korea. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was employed. The sample was 564 women aged 21–64 years old who were recruited in the United States and Korea (American = 127, Japanese immigrants in the United States = 204, and Korean = 233). We carried out item analysis, construct validity by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and internal consistency using SPSS Version 22 and AMOS Version 22. Results: An acceptable model fit for a 20-item BMI (Beliefs Toward Mental Illness Scale–Revised [BMI-R]) with 3 factors was confirmed using CFA. Construct validity of the BMI-R showed to be all acceptable; convergent validity (average variance extracted [AVE] ≥0.5, construct reliability [CR] ≥0.7) and discriminant validity (r = .65–.89, AVE >.79). The Cronbach’s alpha of the BMI-R was .92. Conclusion: These results showed that the BMI was a reliable tool to study beliefs about mental illness across cultures. Our findings also suggested that continued efforts to reduce stigma in culturally specific contexts within and between countries are necessary to promote help-seeking for those suffering from psychological distress.

This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Health Literacy for School-Aged Children (HLSAC-T) scale. This study was a cross-sectional and methodological design. The sample consisted of 563 sixth and ninth grade students in Izmir, Turkey. Data were collected with the socio-demographic characteristics questionnaire, HLSAC-T, and Turkish version of the Adolescent Lifestyle Profile. Cronbach’s α for the scale was .77 and item-total correlations were between .49 and .61 ( p < .001). The model fit indices were determined to be the root mean square error of approximation at .035, the goodness of fit index at .99, and the comparative fit index at .99. The concordance validity and convergent validity were supported and the discriminant validity suggested that the scale successfully discriminated students who cared about healthy lifestyle from the students who did not. The HLSAC-T showed an adequate reliability and validity for determining the subjective health literacy of Turkish school-aged children. The results showed promise that the scale could be translated into other languages.

The purpose of the study was to assess the reliability and validity of the Collett—Lester Fear of Death Scale in a Nigerian population. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among medical students using the Collett—Lester fear of death questionnaire, demographic variables were also obtained. A total of 175 students completed the questionnaire. Reliability score was good and convergent validity was also good. We concluded that the scale has good validity and reliability score among this population.

The working alliance may be relevant in unguided smartphone-based interventions, but no validated measure exists. We evaluated the psychometric properties of the six-item Digital Working Alliance Inventory (DWAI) using a cross-sectional survey of meditation app users ( n = 290) and the intervention arm of a randomized trial testing a smartphone-based meditation app ( n = 314). Exploratory factor analysis suggested a single-factor solution which was replicated using longitudinal confirmatory factor analysis. The DWAI showed adequate internal consistency and test–retest reliability. Discriminant validity was supported by a lack of association with social desirability, psychological distress, and preference for a waitlist condition. Convergent validity was supported by positive associations with perceived app effectiveness and preference for an app condition. Supporting predictive validity, DWAI scores positively predicted self-reported and objective app utilization. When assessed at Weeks 3 or 4 of the intervention, but not earlier, DWAI scores predicted pre–post reductions in psychological distress.

<p>This study conducted to develop a measurement model for measuring Geo-Education in Malaysia context. This cross-sectional survey involved 245 trainee teachers in Universities and Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia (IPGM). The data collection was made through a set of questionnaires and analyzed using SEM-AMOS. There are four main elements measured, which are loading factors, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and composite reliability. The findings indicated that Geo-Education had a significant contribution to the proposed constructs, namely primer, issues, ecosystem, lifestyle, and cross-curricular elements. A model of Geo-Education was successfully developed in this study using these five constructs, namely primer, issues, ecosystem, lifestyle, and cross-curricular elements. This study also identified twenty-five behaviours of Geo-Education among the trainee teachers in Malaysia. The findings of this study are essential as a guideline for Malaysian teachers to implement the concept of Geo-Education in Malaysia. Additionally, the application of this subject as cross-curricular elements in the Malaysian curriculum is essential to ensure the success of the implementation of Education Sustainable Development (ESD) in the school environment.</p>

Abstract Objective To explore the psychometrics of the Bulgarian version of the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (B-HSOPSC) and its suitability for use in Bulgaria. Design A national web-based cross-sectional survey of the safety patient culture. Setting The hospitals’ staffs from 28 administrative areas in the country. Interventions Web-based self-administered questionnaire. Participants Physicians and non-physicians such as nurses, midwifes, etc., working at hospitals. Main Outcome Measures Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed to assess the psychometric properties of the original US structure. Assessment of construct validity included convergent validity, discriminant validity, and nomological validity of constructs. Results A total of 525 valid cases were included in the analysis. The results of CFA revealed acceptable values for absolute indices and lower for the incremental index, comparative fit index. Due to the very low convergence validity, the dimension ‘staffing’ was removed from the model. Additionally, one item was removed from another dimension. The B-HSOPSC included 11 dimensions and 37 items. Conclusions The B-HSOPSC had acceptable levels of global and local fits. Its safety culture dimensions were sufficiently distinguishable and correlated with outcome variables.

The instrument that assesses teachers’ competence on AR methodology is limited. Thus, it is one of the issues concerning evaluating the effectiveness of a professional development program on designing AR projects. It is difficult to determine how much and what teachers have learned in a course or training. Thus, this cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate further the validity and reliability of the Teacher’s Competence in Action Research Questionnaire, a seven-factor instrument previously proposed by Cortes, Pineda, and Geverola (2020). This self-report scale was not subjected to confirmatory factor analysis, had less sample size, and had homogenous participants. In the present study, 450 participants, both pre- and in-service teachers and from different teaching specializations, answered the survey. The data were analyzed using the confirmatory factor analysis method through the Maximum Likelihood approach. Four model fit indices recorded satisfactory results (CFI = 0.890; TLI = 0.884; RMSEA = 0.072; SRMR = 0.039), thus, supporting the seven-factor scale. The standardized factor loading, composite reliability, average variance extracted, and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient/s of the entire scale and within subscales also provide evidence of the convergent validity and reliability of the scale. There may be an issue in the discriminant validity of the scale, but the conceptual distinctions of each factor as supported by theoretical foundation and arguments provide a principal reason for retaining all the items and factors.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) induced by new ß coronavirus MERS-(CoV) had first been described in Saudi Arabia in September 2012. MERS-CoV communication inside the population is often identified with clustered households and cramped communal spaces. The purpose of the study is to assess the knowledge and awareness of MERS-CoV among dental students in India. This was a questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey of 100 dental college students in Chennai. The self-designed questionnaires contained ten questions focused on the knowledge and awareness of MERS-CoV amongst dental college students. Questionnaires were circulated through an online website survey planet. After the responses were received from 100 participants, data were collected and analyzed, .87% are aware of MERS-CoV through media 13% from professional channels. 84%are aware of the clinical manifestation of MERS-CoV. 81%Are aware of the mode of transmission of MERS-CoV. 76%are aware of the preventive measures against MERS -CoV.68%. Are aware of the incubation period of MERS-CoV. 74%aware of PCR as a diagnostic test for MERS-CoV. This study concluded that dental students had strong awareness and knowledge of MERS. Also, there are a few differences in information and behaviours that require change. Large-scale health educational programs on MERS also should be facilitated by professional organizations to expand their reach and to strengthen knowledge to have a positive impact on their behaviour.

The goal of this cross-sectional survey research was to find the validity and reliability of assessment instrument for fiqh mu'āmalāt learning with financial literacy oriented for secondary education. To reveal validity is assessed based on obtain judgement expert and reliability measured by internal consistency. It was gained that the validity is 7 items very feasible and 5 item quite feasible with reliability’s value is 0,763. This finding shows that assessment instrument can be used to analyze difficulties of students for designing lesson plan of fiqh mu'āmalāt learning with financial literacy oriented.
