This research aims to investigate the benefits of implementing the cloud computing system over the currently used IT system, as well the challenges of applying Cloud computing that companies in Egypt could face. This research applies mixed methods of research. Both qualitative and quantitative methods of research are used in the form of semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, respectively. The semi-structured interview was targeting the supply chain and IT managers of three different companies at Coca Cola Egypt, Nestle Egypt and Carrefour Egypt. A SWOT analysis was conducted to serve as a guide to many companies in Egypt that are willing to implement such a system and can then avoid the weakness points and the threats that they could be faced with during the implementation. The importance of this research adds to the literature by focusing on the application of IOT in Egypt in terms of the implementation of a cloud computing system in Egypt and it analyzes whether it could increase the efficiency of the companies in Egypt.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate a framework for management of digital records on the cloud in South Africa. Design/methodology/approach This qualitative case study used semi-structured interviews and document analysis to collect data from regulatory documents, records practitioners and chief information officers in the national government departments in South Africa. Findings This study reveals that despite the advent of cloud computing, government is still struggling with manual paper-based records challenges, as they have not developed a government-owned cloud in which to manage and dispose records. Practical implications Technological advancements have brought about dramatic changes to the management and disposition of records since cloud computing emerged. The traction gained by cloud computing influences how records are managed and disposed in the cloud storage. Currently, the South African Government manages and disposes records in the government premises as stipulated by the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa Act (1996). This is enforced by the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa, which is the government records regulator because records are on paper-based, microfilms and audio-visual formats. It is hoped that the recommendations and framework proposed in this study may assist the government and related sectors in the adoption and implementation of the cloud computing system for records management and disposal. This may assist in resolving challenges such as missing files, damaged records and archives and long turnaround time for retrieval of records. Social implications In South Africa, the digital records are securely stored in storage mediums such as hard drives and USBs, to mention but a few. In addition to digital obsolescence faced by the storage mediums, global access to information is hindered because information is limited to those who can visit the archival holdings. The alternative option is to manage and dispose of records in the cloud. The framework and recommendations in this study may also assist in improving information, archives and records management policies and service delivery to the community at large. The framework proposed may be applied as a theory for framing future studies in the same area of cloud computing and used as a resource to guide other future studies and policymakers. Originality/value This study provides a framework for management of digital records on the cloud in South Africa. It also proposes the promulgation of the Cloud Act to promote unlimited access to state heritage, regardless of time and location. This study is framed on the Digital Curation Centre Life Cycle Model.

Based on family stress theory, this study examined the question of how parents grieve the loss of a baby through miscarriage or stillbirth. Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, we interviewed twenty-six couples two weeks after a perinatal loss. The couples filled out questionnaires measuring individual variables including bereavement, depression and stress, and couple variables including cohesion, adaptability, communication, satisfaction, and partner support. Then they participated in a three-hour semi-structured interview. Ethnographic content analysis revealed twelve themes closely related to the resources, the meaning of the stressful event, and the coping strategies of Hill's ABC-X stress model. The quantitative analysis of the individual and couple variables supported the qualitative findings in that most couples had excellent coping strategies derived from within the couple relationship.

In the Calendar of Event (COE) launched by the Ministry of Tourism on August 14, 2019, it was noted that the Province of West Sumatra had 3 (three) flagship events, and as in previous years, the Tabuik Festival was not one of them. The Tabuik Festival is a very unique cultural tourism attraction, but as tourism advances in Indonesia, the Tabuik Festival is increasingly lagging. The purpose of this study is to find better development strategies through internal and external factor analysis (IE Factors analysis). This study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods (mix method) with an unbalanced mixed model (concurrent embedded) with a quantitative approach as the primary method. To produce the formulation of the Tabuik Festival development strategy, Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis is used. Qualitative data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, documentation, and literature studies, while quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire. The results of the study obtained a score with a fairly good category, but in some analyses of internal and external indicators obtained results conflicting with the lowest score so that it can be a threat and weakness. From the results of this analysis, it can be concluded that the Tabuik Festival requires a development strategy to maximize its potential so that it can become one of the leading cultural tourism in West Sumatra.

The use of blogs in teaching and learning has emerged as a useful education-al technology resource. Hence, this study’s objective is to investigate the students’ perception of blogs and the blog usage patterns from the educa-tional aspect. Eighteen samples were chosen purposively in this study. The study collected both qualitative and quantitative data. The research instru-ments were questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and students’ blogs. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, the data collected was an-alysed descriptively and thematically. The results revealed the positive outcomes of students’ perceptions of blog aspects such as writing, reading and making comments. In terms of blog usage patterns, student frequencies in writing and sharing information in blogs were high when they were given tasks or activities that would be evaluated by an instructor. This showed that instructors play an important role in motivating the students to be ac-tively involved in blogs. Therefore, rewards or marks need to be given as an encouragement to the students for them to continuously and actively use blogs for learning.

This quantitative and qualitative research paper attempts to demonstrate to what extent instructional subtitled videos influence students’ vocabulary learning. The main objective is to know how this visual strategy contributes to increasing students’ new vocabulary power in meaningful contexts. This is an action–research study, which is based on the use of qualitative and quantitative methods. The applied data collection techniques included the following: a) a pre–test, in order to identify students’ difficulties regarding vocabulary, b) three classroom observations in which three lesson plans, based on ESA (Engage, Study, and Activate) Model, were done; c) a teacher-researcher’s diary to reflect about students’ performance in the whole implementation process was used, d) a semi-structured interview was designed in order to collect participants’ comments on subtitled videos, and e) a post-test by measuring students’ vocabulary knowledge for language improvement. The analysis of the data showed that the use of instructional subtitled videos helped students to learn vocabulary. The intervention stage helped participants to perform better on the post-test than the pre-test. The target words were contextualized and presented through the combination of sounds, images, and text, simultaneously. The data also showed that the participants considered that the videos were useful to remember the new words and to use them in meaningful communicative contexts. After discussing the findings of the study in the light of the theory, its implications and limitations, as well as some considerations for further research, were presented.

The main aim of the present study is to prioritize the training needs of academic members of Farhangian University and their assessment. This research method is descriptive-analytical survey, and the qualitative and quantitative methods have been used to carry it out. The statistical population in the qualitative section consisted of all education authorities throughout the country, out of whom 19 were selected using goal-oriented sampling. The quantitative statistical population comprised 181 of permanently employed academic members of Farhangian University which 150 samples were randomly selected. The research data were collected from semi-structured interview and researcher-made questionnaire. In order to determine the validity, content validity and to check the structural validity, operating analysis, and to estimate the reliability of the questionnaires, Cranach’s alpha coefficient was used. The findings showed that the results obtained in the qualitative section are in agreement with those obtained from the qualitative section. According to the research results, the most important educational needs of academic members in the area of assessment are: 1) ability in carrying out the qualitative assessment, 2) ability in carrying out the combined assessment, 3) ability in “skill-oriented” assessment instead of “memory-oriented” assessment. Moreover, the research findings in the qualitative section indicated that the amount of need of academic members of Farhangian University in the area of assessment were more than the medium level.
