The results of investigation of sintering, microstructure and phase composition of the system ZrO2-Al2O3-SiO2 with MnO admixture are shown. It was approved that the usage of MnO admixture promoted sintering temperature decrease up to 1250-1350 °C. The product obtained is characterized by a high content of tetragonal phase as well as high strength while bending.

The study of sintering, microstructure and phase composition of zirconia ceramics containing the additive - sodium niobate. It is shown that the use of an additive helps to reduce the sintering temperature to 1,400 ° C. The obtained materials are characterized by a high content of the tetragonal phase, a fine-crystalline structure and high strength up to 440 MPa during bending. The developed low-temperature materials can be used in dentistry as ceramic crowns.

The influence of curing time on the mechanical property of the phosphoaluminate cement (PAC) was investigated, and the mechanism was discussed as well. The phase composition and morphology of hydration products, electrical properties, porosity and pore size distribution of PAC cured different age were analyzed with XRD, EIS and MIP. The results showed PAC has the property of early-high strength, and the compressive strength of PAC cured for 1 day was about 70% of 28 days’. The main hydration products of PAC are micro-crystal phase and gel of phosphate and phosphoaluminate which formed compacter microstructure. In addition, there are no calcium hydroxide (CH) and ettringite (AFt) produced during the process of hydration. The compressive strength of PAC increased with age, which was due to more products continuously produced. The ac resistance analysis manifested as the change of the nyquist pattern and resistance value.

In this article, an attempt was made to study the mechanical behaviour of AA7068 - 6 vol. % of MoS2 - X vol. % of WC (X = 0, 5, 10 and 15) hybrid aluminium composites produced by blend–press–sinter methodology. Compacted Powders (700MPa) were sintered at different temperatures (450 0c, 500 0c and 550 0c ) in order to find the influence of sintering temperature on mechanical properties and tribological behavior of AA7068 hybrid composites. The sintered samples have been characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD) method for identification of phases and also to investigate the phase changes. The change in density, hardness and porosity values of composites were reported. The composite with 15 vol. % of tungsten carbide and 6 vol. % of MoS2 showed the highest hardness and density at the sintering temperature range of 550 0c. Pin-on-disc type apparatus was used for determining the wear loss occurring at different conditions. The hybridization of the two reinforcements enhanced the wear resistance of the composites, especially under high applied load, sliding distance and sliding speeds. Due to this, the hybrid aluminium composites can be considered as an outstanding material where high strength and wear-resistant components are of major importance, predominantly in the aerospace and automotive engineering sectors. The morphology of the wear debris and the worn out surfaces were analyzed to understand the wear mechanisms.

Abstract In this work, the phase composition (relative fractions of monoclinic m-ZrO2, tetragonal t-ZrO2, and cubic c-ZrO2 phases) and mechanical properties (hardness, fracture toughness, compressive strength) of alumina toughened zirconia (ATZ) ceramics, with an addition of silica were investigated. Calcium oxide was used as a stabilizer for the zirconia tetragonal phase. It was shown that CaO-ATZ+SiO2 ceramics demonstrate increased resistance to low-temperature degradation. The plasticity signs at room temperature were found due to the SiO2 addition to CaO-ATZ ceramics. A yield plateau appears in the uniaxial compression diagram at 5 mol. % SiO2 concentration. It is hypothesized that discovered plasticity is due to the increased t→m transformability.

Cordierite samples were prepared using quartz sand tailings, industrial alumina and magnesite tailings as raw materials by high-temperature reaction. The influence of mineral composition and sintering temperature on the final phase composition and physical properties of cordierite were studied. The results shown that a large number of cordierite generated at 1300 °C. When the ratio of Al2O3/SiO2 equals to 1.08, the flexural strength of samples increased to 27.66 MPa.

This paper describes the influence of sintering temperature on phase composition and microstructure of paper-derived Ti3AlC2 composites fabricated by spark plasma sintering. The composites were sintered at 100 MPa pressure in the temperature range of 1150-1350 °C. Phase composition and microstructure were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The multiphase structure was observed in the sintered composites consisting of Ti3AlC2, Ti2AlC, TiC and Al2O3 phases. The decomposition of the Ti3AlC2 phase into Ti2AlC and TiC carbide phases was observed with temperature rise. The total content of Ti3AlC2 and Ti2AlC phases was reduced from 84.5 vol.% (1150 °C) to 69.5 vol.% (1350 °C). The density of composites affected by both the content of TiC phase and changes in porosity.

. A doping CaO-B2O3-SiO2 system low temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) was prepared with a mixture of high temperature melting glass and sol-gel glass for different ratio. The effects of sol-gel glass content on the microstructure, crystalline phases, sintering properties and dielectric properties of CaO-B2O3-SiO2 system were investigated at 850°C. The results show that the samples with sol-gel glass doping had little change in phase composition, but contained more calcium silicates, and less calcium borate. As the amount of sol-gel glass increased, the shrinkage improved, the sintered density slightly decreased, the dielectric constant (εr) reduced, and the dielectric loss (tgδ) decreased. When the amount of sol-gel glass was 14.5wt%, εr and tgδ of the doping sample were 5.80, 4.6×10-5 (at 1 MHz), respectively. Moreover, the doping system had a good matching ability with gold slurry and Au-Pt-Pd slurry.
