ABSTRACT This article explores gamification in the field of teaching with the aim of finding out its impact on students of educational sciences in Spain. A systematic review of the literature on gamification in educational studies has been carried out.  For this purpose, the bibliographic search engine "Google Scholar" was used, introducing the keywords " Gamificación (gamification)" and "Magisterio (teacher training)", with a result of 105 articles written in Spanish, which have been refined to ensure systematicity resulting in a final sample of 6 articles. The results highlight the effectiveness of gamification as a motivating element for learning in these studies, and the presence of didactics´ departments as the main users of those methodologies. However, at the same time, result shown important gaps regarded student’s perception about the possible impacts of gamification in their future development as teachers.

The socio-ecological systems (SESs) framework provides cross-disciplinary insight into complex environmental problems. Numerous studies have applied the SES framework to coastal and marine environments over the last two decades. We review and analyze 98 of those studies to (i) describe how SES concepts were examined and measured, (ii) describe how the studies included feedbacks and thresholds, and (iii) identify and analyze elements unique to coastal and marine SES frameworks. We find that progress has been made in understanding key SES properties in coastal and marine ecosystems, which include resilience, adaptive capacity, vulnerability, and governance. A variety of methods has been developed and applied to analyze these features qualitatively and quantitatively. We also find that recent studies have incorporated land-based stressors in their analyses of coastal issues related to nutrient runoff, bacterial pollution, and management of anadromous species to represent explicit links in land-to-sea continuums. However, the literature has yet to identify methods and data that can be used to provide causal evidence of non-linearities and thresholds within SES. In addition, our findings suggest that greater alignment and consistency are needed in models with regard to metrics and spatial boundaries between ecological and social systems to take full advantage of the SES framework and improve coastal and marine management.

Aim. To determine the relevance of the application of the chlorhexidine adhesive Protocol in devital teeth.Materials and methods. A systematic review of the literature in the electronic databases Google Scholar and Pubmed was conducted. Articles related to research on the activity of matrix metalloproteinases in vital and devital teeth, as well as research on the effectiveness of the chlorhexidine Protocol, are considered and included.Results. 60 articles were reviewed during the review. After making the selection based on the exclusion criteria, the number of included studies was 36.Conclusions. According to the studied publications, it was found that MMP 2 and MMP 9 are contained not only in vital, but also in devital teeth. The use of a chlorhexidine adhesive Protocol is relevant in both clinical cases but depending on the type of MMP and the state of the pulp, the concentration of chlorhexidine is selected.

Background: The aim of the present work is the elaboration of a systematic review of existing research on physical fitness, self-efficacy for physical exercise, and quality of life in adulthood. Method: Using the PRISMA statement guidelines, and based on the findings in 396 articles, the final sample was composed of 31 articles, which were reviewed to show whether self-efficacy has previously been studied as a mediator in the relationship between physical fitness and quality of life in adulthood. Results: The results indicate that little research exists in relation to healthy, populations with the majority being people with pathology. Physical fitness should be considered as a fundamental aspect in determining the functional capacity of the person. Conclusions: We discuss the need to investigate the mediation of self-efficacy in relation to the value of physical activity on quality of life and well-being in the healthy adult population in adult life.

Dengue, an important mosquito-borne virus transmitted mainly byAedes aegypti, is a major public health issue in Latin America and the Caribbean. National epidemiological surveillance systems, usually based on passive detection of symptomatic cases, while underestimating the true burden of dengue disease, can provide valuable insight into disease trends and excess reporting and potential outbreaks. We carried out a systematic review of the literature to characterize the recent epidemiology of dengue disease in Latin America and the English-speaking and Hispanic Caribbean Islands. We identified 530 articles, 60 of which met criteria for inclusion. In general, dengue seropositivity across the region was high and increased with age. All four virus serotypes were reported to circulate in the region. These observations varied considerably between and within countries and over time, potentially due to climatic factors (temperature, rainfall, and relative humidity) and their effect on mosquito densities and differences in socioeconomic factors. This review provides important insight into the major epidemiological characteristics of dengue in distinct regions of Latin America and the Caribbean, allowing gaps in current knowledge and future research needs to be identified.

ObjectivesSubdural haematoma (SDH) is a recognised complication of forceps-assisted delivery (FAD). There are no guidelines regarding its management. This study aims to provide a better insight into the management and outcomes of neonatal SDH post FAD.DesignRetrospective review of our neonatal database and systematic review of the literature.SubjectsNeonatal cases presented with SDH after FAD.MethodsRetrospective database search of cases managed in our unit between January 20 111 and January 2018. Systematic review of the literature was performed using PRISMA guidelines. Inclusion criteria: (i) neonates, (ii) forceps-assisted delivery, (iii) evidence of SDH on imaging, with or without other traumatic lesions.ResultsA literature search yielded 9 studies with 30 patients meeting our inclusion criteria, In addition three cases were identified from our institutional database. 42% (n=14) had their SDH managed surgically, with subsequent full neurological recovery in 57%. In comparison, 95% (n=18) of the conservatively managed patients made a full recovery. Hydrocephalus was present in 1 and 11 of the conservatively managed and surgically managed patients, respectively.ConclusionsConservative management can lead to a full neurological recovery in SDH following FAD in neonates. However, a significant number may still need neurosurgical intervention for the SDH or subsequent hydrocephalus, therefore we advocate early transfer to a specialist neuroscience centre.

Deepfakes are becoming a key topic in debates around politics and misinformation on the internet today. While the phenomenon of deepfakes is relatively new with the first documented public appearances recorded in 2017, there is already a growing scholarly literature about deepfakes and the various methods that can be used to help understand and combat them. This paper presents a preliminary systematic review of the academic literature on deepfakes. We assessed a representative sample (N=1049) of sources from four popular electronic databases, including Google Scholar, Scopus, Crossref, and Web of Science. We then coded those articles according to academic subject, theoretical approach, and theme.
