Background: The 3M Plus mosquito nest eradication movement is the most effective activity to prevent the occurrence of dengue disease and to realize environmental hygiene and healthy living behavior. The purpose of the 3M Plus mosquito nest eradication activity is to eradicate the breeding places of the Aedes mosquito through efforts to foster community participation so that dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) can be optimally prevented.Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the behavior of the head of the family with the implementation of eradicating the mosquito nests of dengue hemorrhagic fever.Method: This type of research uses a descriptive analytic approach with a cross sectional study design with a sampling technique using simple random sampling. The sample in this study were 73 heads of families from a population of 264 families. This research was conducted in March-September 2021. The data was collected by interview using a questionnaire, and supported by observational data. Data processing is carried out in a computerized manner starting with the stages of editing, coding, tabulating. Data analysis was performed bivariate (Chi-square test) and multivariate (Binary Logistics Regression) at 95% CI.Results: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between attitudes (p= 0.000) and the role of community leaders (p= 0.039) with the eradication of dengue mosquito nests. There was no relationship between knowledge (p= 0.767) and the eradication of dengue mosquito nests. The attitude variable is the dominant predictor of its relationship with the implementation of the eradication of dengue mosquito nests in Seunagan District, Nagan Raya Regency (Exp (B) = 7.2).Conclusion: There is a relationship between attitudes and the role of community leaders in eradicating dengue mosquito nests, but knowledge does not show a relationship. The success of eradicating dengue mosquito nests is dominated by the positive attitude of the local community.

According to the WHO 2009 classification, dengue with warning signs is at the risk of developing severe form of dengue disease. One of the most important warning signs is plasma leakage, which can be a serious complication associated with higher morbidity and mortality. We report that the frequency of CD4+CD8+ double-positive (DP) T cells is significantly increased in patients at risk of developing plasma leakage. Transcriptomic analysis demonstrated that CD4+CD8+ DP cells were distinct from CD4+ Single Positive (SP) T cells but co-clustered with CD8+ SP cells, indicating a largely similar transcriptional profile. Twenty significant differentially expressed (DE) genes were identified between CD4+CD8+ DP and CD8+ SP cells. These genes encode OX40 and CCR4 proteins as well as other molecules associated with cell signaling on the cell surface (NT5E, MXRA8, and PTPRK). While comparing the profile of gene expression in CD4+CD8+ DP cells from patients with and without warning signs of plasma leakage, similar expression profile was observed, implying a role of CD4+CD8+ DP cells in plasma leakage through a quantitative increase rather than functional alteration. This study provided novel insight into the host immune response during the acute febrile phase of DENV infection and the role of CD4+CD8+ DP T cells in the pathogenesis of plasma leakage.

Manggala District is one of the sub-districts in Makassar City which often faces cases of Dengue Fever. Dengue fever is a disease transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The breeding of Aedes Aegypti is increasing due to the increasingly crowded conditions of buildings and housing. These mosquitoes not only live in dirty water environments, but also in clean water such as bathtubs, water reservoirs, and others. Some community members still have limited knowledge and understanding of effective ways of dealing with dengue cases, as well as the use of plant species that can be used to repel mosquitoes. The purpose of the service is to increase the knowledge and understanding of the community about dengue fever and the use of mosquito repellent plants. The extension method is the presentation by the extension team, the discussion stage, and the evaluation stage. The results show an increase in public knowledge and understanding of dengue disease and the use of mosquito repellent plants. The conclusion is that the community finally knows the dangers of dengue disease and knows the types of mosquito repellent plants.

Background: The existence of Aedes sp. is an indicator of the presence of a population of Aedes sp. environmental conditions also greatly affect the incidence of dengue disease, it is also related to the presence of larvae. Citra Medika Health center’s working area is a contributor of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) incidence with increased DHF cased from 2016-2018. Objective: to analyze the relationship between environmental conditions and the presence of Aedes sp. in the Citra Medika Health Center, Lubuk Linggau Timur District 1 in 2020. Methods: It was quantitative research with a cross-sectional design approach. The total sample was 91 respondents, who have met predetermined criteria using the purposive sampling technique, with inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. The data used in this study are secondary data from Citra Medika Health Center and primary data obtained from interviews and direct observation. Result: It showed that there was a relationship between the implementation of Mosquito Breeding Eradication (p-value 0,047) and the presence of solid waste (p-value 0.039) with the presence of Aedes sp. larvae. Conclusion: This study concludes that the presence of Aedes sp. larvae are caused by factors such as the implementation of Mosquito breeding Eradication DBD and the presence of solid waste.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to spread aggressively worldwide, infecting more than 170 million people with confirmed cases, including more than 3 million deaths. This pandemic is increasingly exacerbating the burden on tropical and subtropical regions of the world due to the pre-existing dengue fever, which has become endemic for a longer period in the same region. Co-circulation dengue and COVID-19 cases have been found and confirmed in several countries. In this paper, a deterministic model for the coendemic of COVID-19 and dengue is proposed. The basic reproduction ratio is obtained, which is related to the four equilibria, disease-free, endemic-COVID-19, endemic-dengue, and coendemic equilibria. Stability analysis is done for the first three equilibria. Furthermore, a condition for coexistence equilibrium is obtained, which gives a condition for bifurcation analysis. Numerical simulations were carried out to obtain a stable limit-cycle resulting from two Hopf bifurcation points with dengue transmission rate and COVID-19 transmission rate as the bifurcation parameter, representing a stable periodic coexistence of dengue and COVID-19 transmission. We identify the period of limit cycle decreases after reaching the maximum value.

Purposes: Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral disease, is a global public health burden affecting millions of people each year and over 40% of world populations are at risk of dengue. Therefore, prompt and accurate dengue diagnosis is inevitable for disease surveillance and for aiding disease management. In this study we report dengue virus (DENV) seroprevalence in Chittagong, Bangladesh along with clinical manifestation of dengue infections. Methods: All samples included in this study were selected based on dengue NS1-based diagnosis, clinical sign and symptoms were judged by expert clinical physicians and infecting DENV serotyping was done by RT-PCR. The blood cells (Platelet, Haematocrit, WBC etc) were analyzed using Haematology cell counter. Results: First, among the 112 DENV infected serum samples tested by RT-PCR, 42 were DENV positive where 76% samples had single DENV serotype infection and 24% were concurrently infected with two or more DENV serotypes, indicating that all four DENVs were present in a single dengue session in Chittagong, Bangladesh. Then, DENV4 was the most prevailed serotype, followed by DENV2, DENV1 and DENV3 in single DENV serotype infections. However, in almost 90% cases of concurrent multiple DENV infections DENV1 serotype was present. A detail analysis of clinical data clearly indicated that DENV1 and DENV2 resulted very similar patterns of clinical symptoms which were quite different from those caused by DENV3 and DENV4. For example, ache and pain were absent in DENV3 infection and diarrhea was absent in DENV4 infections. Furthermore, DENV3, both in single and concurrent multiple DENV infections, might increase dengue disease severity as observed highly reduced platelet counts along with increased WBC in patients infected with DENV3 serotype. Conclusion: All four DENV serotypes, both as single and concurrent multiple DENV infections, were present in single dengue session in Bangladesh. Despite having very similar sequences and structures all four DENVs might produce different disease spectra, ranging from classical dengue fever to dengue hemorrhagic fever. Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan salah satu jenis penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh virus dengue yang ditularkan melalui gigitan nyamuk Aedes Aegypti. Penyakit DBD dapat muncul sepanjang tahun dan dapat menyerang seluruh kelompok umur. Puskesmas Karya Wanita merupakan daerah yang endemis yaitu daerah yang mudah terjangkit penyakit dalam jumlah besar salah satunya penyakit DBD. Upaya dari pemerintah untuk mengatasi penularan penyakit DBD dengan melakukan program pengendalian DBD. Program pengendalian ini berupa pemberantasan sarang nyamuk, penyelidikan epidemiologi dan penggulangan fokus. Kegiatan ini mempunyai tujuan utama diantaranya untuk menurunkan angka kesakitan, menurunkan angka kematian, dan mencegah terjadinya KLB penyakit DBD. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis pelaksanaan program pengendalian DBD di Puskesmas Karya Wanita Kota Pekanbaru tahun 2020. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 1 informan kunci yaitu Kepala Puskesmas, 2 informan utama yaitu Pemegang Program DBD, Petugas Promosi Kesehatan, dan 2 informan pendukung yaitu Kader dan Masyarakat. Teknik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara mendalam dengan menggunakan bantuan pedoman wawancara serta analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam bentuk narasi . Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan program pengendalian DBD belum optimal, hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya dana untuk melaksanakan program ini, dan juga masih kurangnya partisipasi masyarakat dalam melakukan program Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk (PSN). Diharapkan kepada pihak puskesmas agar dapat bekerjasama dengan pihak terkait seperti Dinas Kesehatan Kota/Provinsi dan lintas sektor dalam pendanaan untuk semua kegiatan pengendalian DBD dan lebih memotivasi masyarakat agar ikut serta dalam proses pengendalian DBD. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a type of infectious disease caused by the dengue virus which is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. DHF can appear throughout the year and can affect all age groups. Karya Wanita Public Health Center is an endemic area, namely an area that is easily infected by large numbers of diseases, one of which is DHF. Efforts from the government to overcome the transmission of dengue disease by implementing a dengue control program. This control program takes the form of eradicating mosquito nests, epidemiological investigations and focus repetition. This activity has the main objective of reducing morbidity, reducing mortality, and preventing outbreaks of dengue fever. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the DHF control program at  Karya Wanita Public health center Pekanbaru City in 2020. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects of this study consisted of 1 key informant, namely the Head of the Puskesmas, 2 main informants, namely the DBD Program Holder, a Health Promotion Officer, and 2 supporting informants namely Cadres and the Community. The technique used in this research is in-depth interviews using interview guides and data analysis is done descriptively and presented in narrative form. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the DHF control program is not optimal, this is due to the lack of funds to implement this program, and also the lack of community participation in carrying out the Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) program. It is hoped that the public health center will be able to collaborate with related parties such as the City / Provincial Health Office in funding for all DHF control activities and to further motivate the community to participate in the DHF control process

With increasing urbanisation, the dengue disease burden is on the rise in India, especially in large cities such as Mumbai. Current dengue surveillance in Mumbai includes municipal corporation carrying out specific activities to reduce mosquito breeding sites and the use of insecticides to suppress the adult mosquito populations. Clinical cases remain either underreported or misreported due to the restriction to government clinics, missing the large private health care sector. There is a need for an integrated approach to manage dengue outbreaks in Mumbai. There are various novel strategies available for use that can be utilised to improve disease detection, mosquito surveillance, and control of mosquito-borne diseases. These novel technologies are discussed in this manuscript. Given the complex ecosystem of mosquito-borne diseases in Mumbai, integrating data obtained from these technologies would support the ongoing mosquito control measures in Mumbai.
