Nowadays human activities are incoming at a digitalization stage. The introduction of information technology along with new forms of communication, influence a variety of forms of human action and focus mainly on the integration and the convergence of the digital and physical worlds. The use of more intelligent – electronic solutions, improves the lives of people around the world, according to studies carried out on the ingress of new smart technologies. Artificial and Ambient intelligence nowadays getting more and more attention about the development of smart, digital environments. The Smart Cities designed for All must aim to arrange the disparity in cities through smart technology, making cities both smart and accessible to a range of users regardless of their abilities or disabilities. The birth of “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) has facilitated the complex computations for reality simulation the new communication era of wireless 5G, all combined have given the hope for a new and better future, to reverse disability to empower the humans with more capabilities, to be faster than they can ever be, stronger than they can ever dream. This paper provides an overview of Ambient Intelligence and smart environments, as well as how technological advancements will benefit everyday usage by devices in common spaces such as homes or offices, and how they will interact and serve as a part of an intelligent ecosystem by bringing together resources such as networks, sensors, human-computer interfaces, pervasive computing, and so on.

As computers evolve towards becoming more human-oriented machines, human-computer interfaces, behavior-learning robots, and disable-adapted computer environments will use face expression analysis to be able to react to human action. Furthermore, faces play an essential role in human communication. Consequently, they have been the first objects whose motion has been studied in order to recreate animation on synthesized models or to interpret motion for a posteriori use. The analysis of motion and expression from monocular (single) images is widely investigated because non-stereoscopic static images and videos are the most affordable and extensively used visual media (i.e., Webcams).

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to fill a gap in the real estate academic literature by defining the essence of real estate in smart urban environments. Space has traditionally been a silent component of real estate. Smart technologies powered by Ubi-comp are turning space into an active part of real estate, which represents a paradigm shift for commercial real estate. This shift requires new concepts and tools to analyse and model real estate in smart cities. Design/methodology/approach The paper defines the notions of smart space and smart real estate. Several concepts and tools are formulated, starting with a model of space users in smart cities, called the Cyber-Dasein inspired by Heidegger’s existential phenomenology of space. Findings The paper then analyses smart space’s attributes and proposes several metrics for commercial real estate in smart environments. After introducing three regression models for constructing a price index of smart real estate, the paper concludes by advocating that commercial real estate take an active role in the current debate about smart cities. Research limitations/implications The paper does not provide any empirical analysis of smart real estate. Practical implications Smart environments offer real estate a unique opportunity to set up methodologies, concepts and tools for new properties in new cities. Now is the time to think carefully about the impact smart technologies will have on commercial properties before other stakeholders (in particular smart cities vendors and multinational technology giants) have fully modelled smart space and its nexus with smart real estate. Originality/value This paper is the first paper to provide a conceptual framework for the analysis of commercial real estate in smart cities.

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to analysis of trends and formation of recommendations for the introduction of smart city technologies in the development strategy of the urban community. Methodology of research. The research methodology contains the following general scientific methods, namely: bibliographic – for the analysis and systematization of scientific works on the development of "smart" cities, modelling of their technological and information structures; historical and practical – to study the practical experience of introducing intellectual elements in the urban space; comparative – to determine the priorities of the components of the "smart city" model; abstract and logical – in forming conclusions and formulating recommendations. Findings. It is determined that the European model of smart city development provides for the introduction of such components as smart - economy, mobility, ecological approach to environmental protection; digital technologies; development of information, digital and general culture of residents; smart lifestyle; e-government. The world tendencies and Ukrainian practices of introduction of smart elements for digitalization of management of infrastructure of the city are analysed. It is determined that the technological solutions of a smart city are developed on the basis of Internet of Things technologies, active use of feedback principles, formation of data transmission infrastructure, data collection, processing and analysis systems. It is revealed that the introduction of smart technologies is carried out in fragments both in Ukraine and in the world. It is analysed that the development strategies of Ukrainian cities do not contain separate sections on the introduction of smart technologies. Ukrainian cities lag far behind in the pace of innovation and do not have separate strategies for the development of a smart city. It is proved that all stakeholders should have information on the formation of the city's development strategy and, in particular, its smart technologies, understands their level of responsibility and participation in decision-making mechanisms and implementation of the introduced technologies. Originality. The model of a smart city has been improved, taking into account trends in the development of smart cities and identifying priority areas for the development of smart technologies in the management of infrastructure and urban information environment. The information environment involves the use of a multi-loop information system to support the life of the city in various areas. Such a system contains the necessary functionality, as well as special emotional and motivating contours to increase the activity of citizens, ensure transparency of decision-making by city leaders and more. Practical value. The formed recommendations can be used by project groups of city councils for improvement of strategies of development of cities and development of scenarios of introduction of elements of system of the smart city. Purpose As smart technologies become an integral part of real estate in smart cities, the purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of ubiquitous computing on space users in smart real estate. Design/methodology/approach The analysis builds on two fields of knowledge rarely referenced in real estate studies: computer sciences and social sciences. The paper starts by analysing the idiosyncrasies of a new type of space user in smart real estate, known as the Cyber-dasein in reference to Heidegger’s phenomenology. The Cyber-dasein serves as an archetypical space user in smart environments. Findings The paper introduces digital-time as a new realm of real estate, and discusses the use of “experienced utility” in hedonic pricing models of smart real estate. It concludes by advocating a multidisciplinary collaborative approach for future research on real estate in smart environments. Practical implications There is a need for the real estate sector to decide on a metric for the new digital dimension of real estate owing to the implementation of smart technologies in the built environment. Originality/value This is the first research paper on this important topic. It is totally original and new.

Ensuring public safety is an important issue for all developed countries of the world. In this area, various organizations conduct constant monitoring, as a result of which ratings are published, the results of which have a significant impact on choosing a place of residence, attracting tourists and investors, etc. To simplify control of public safety in cities, artificial intelligence systems are increasingly used. Along with the positive effects of such systems, the protection of human privacy is becoming a key issue. This article describes the results of Belarusian scientists on the creation of such systems and examines the features of their implementation in a “smart city” in our country. The experience of a number of countries in the implementation of artificial intelligence systems to strengthen public safety in existing "smart cities" is analyzed. The legal problems arising during the functioning of such systems are considered, especially in terms of limiting the freedom and rights of citizens. Proposals are given on the development of the regulatory framework in the Republic of Belarus in order to protect the rights of citizens.

The concept of Smart Tourism is rapidly developing alongside Smart Cities, with increasing numbers of ICT solutions being applied for the convenience of travelers as well as for gathering information, which has become a valuable resource. The vast progress in the development of Information Technologies has also impacted the needs and expectations of tourists. However, various branches of tourism are adopting this concept at a different pace, and thus a growing development gap might emerge. Cases from all over the world show that museums are not immune to this, and it is important for their future to meet these expectations. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to investigate the use of modern technologies in Polish museums and assess their readiness for adopting Smart Tourism. For this purpose, a nationwide online survey was conducted with a sample size of 218 museums (from 500 unique entities in total). The results show that the issue of Smart Tourism in Polish museums is ambiguous. The results reveal that, currently, the status of Smart Tourism adoption in museums is quite low, and significant gaps in some areas are shown; at the same time, other areas revealed a high potential for the future application of Smart Tourism.

Based on a successful funded collaboration between the American University of Armenia, the University of Duisburg-Essen and the University of Chile, in previous years a network was built, and in September 2020 a group of researchers gathered (although virtually) for the 2nd CODASSCA workshop on “Collaborative Technologies and Data Science in Smart City Applications”. This event has attracted 25 paper submissions which deal with the problems and challenges mentioned above. The studies are in specialized areas and disclose novel solutions and approaches based on existing theories suitably applied. The authors of the best papers published in the conference proceedings on Collaborative Technologies and Data Science in Artificial Intelligence Applications by Logos edition Berlin were invited to submit significantly extended and improved versions of their contributions to be considered for a journal special issue of J.UCS. There was also a J.UCS open call so that any author could submit papers on the highlighted subject. For this volume, we selected those devoted mainly to human-computer interaction problematics, which were rigorously reviewed in three rounds and 6 papers nominated to be published.

The study aims at analyzing social and psychological issues of Smart education (the education involving artificial intelligence technologies). Modern education and its subjects are increasingly changing. And the changes are not confined to the forms and content of education,but make a person reinterpret themselves as a personality, partner, student, and professional, they also lead to transformation and deformation of personal relations with themselves and the world, their functioning in various spheres: academic and labor, family and friends, everyday life and hobby, sport and recreation. Properly implemented Smart education will intensify and enhance education quality, attaining these goals, though, requires development and introduction of appropriate smart technologies, and consonance of educational organization’s objectives with the goals of education. The authors' contribution to the study of social and psychological problems of smart education is associated with an attempt to clarify the conceptual and technological, value and target boundaries of smart education, which will increase the effectiveness of using smart technologies in teaching and upbringing in schools, universities and other educational institutions.

Although technology advances in a high speed and in different tracks and sectors, among the many major areas of trends of smart technologies are clouds and artificial intelligence. This chapter presents such significant trends in smart technologies with emphasis on clouds and their applications which make the implementation of smart cities efficient. It focuses on the general paradigm for smart technology platforms with five different levels, including edge and fog computing as well as the internet of things. In the chapter, other trends are covered such as data analytics for strategic decision making, artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, open data, and cloud-based data. It also introduces the significance of using predictive analytics and using data for effective deep learning for smart applications.
