Contamination in insulators results in an increase in surface conductivity. With higher surface conductivity, insulators are more vulnerable to discharges that can damage them, thus reducing the reliability of the electrical system. One of the indications that the insulator is losing its insulating properties is its increase in leakage current. By varying the leakage current over time, it is possible to determine whether the insulator will develop an irreversible failure. In this way, by predicting the increase in leakage current, it is possible to carry out maintenance to avoid system failures. For forecasting time series, there are many models that have been studied and the definition of which model is suitable for evaluation depends on the characteristics of the data associated with the analysis. Thus, this work aims to identify the most suitable model to predict the increase in leakage current in relation to the time the insulator is outdoors, exposed to environmental variations using the same database to compare the methods. In this paper, the models based on linear regression, support vector regression (SVR), multilayer Perceptron (MLP), deep neural network (DNN), and recurrent neural network (RNN) will be analyzed comparatively. The best accuracy results for prediction were found using the RNN models, resulting in an accuracy of up to 97.25%.

Under the impact of COVID-19, research on behavior recognition are highly needed. In this paper, we combine the algorithm of self-adaptive coder and recurrent neural network to realize the research of behavior pattern recognition. At present, most of the research of human behavior recognition is focused on the video data, which is based on the video number. At the same time, due to the complexity of video image data, it is easy to violate personal privacy. With the rapid development of Internet of things technology, it has attracted the attention of a large number of experts and scholars. Researchers have tried to use many machine learning methods, such as random forest, support vector machine and other shallow learning methods, which perform well in the laboratory environment, but there is still a long way to go from practical application. In this paper, a recursive neural network algorithm based on long and short term memory (LSTM) is proposed to realize the recognition of behavior patterns, so as to improve the accuracy of human activity behavior recognition.

: Absence seizure is a type of brain disorder in which subject get into sudden lapses in attention. Which means sudden change in brain stimulation. Most of this type of disorder is widely found in children’s (5-18 years). These Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are captured with long term monitoring system and are analyzed individually. In this paper, a Convolutional Neural Network to extract single channel EEG seizure features like Power, log sum of wavelet transform, cross correlation, and mean phase variance of each frame in a windows are extracted after pre-processing and classify them into normal or absence seizure class, is proposed as an empowerment of monitoring system by automatic detection of absence seizure. The training data is collected from the normal and absence seizure subjects in the form of Electroencephalogram. The objective is to perform automatic detection of absence seizure using single channel electroencephalogram signal as input. Here the data is used to train the proposed Convolutional Neural Network to extract and classify absence seizure. The Convolutional Neural Network consist of three layers 1] convolutional layer – which extract the features in the form of vector 2] Pooling layer – the dimensionality of output from convolutional layer is reduced and 3] Fully connected layer–the activation function called soft-max is used to find the probability distribution of output class. This paper goes through the automatic detection of absence seizure in detail and provide the comparative analysis of classification between Support Vector Machine and Convolutional Neural Network. The proposed approach outperforms the performance of Support Vector Machine by 80% in automatic detection of absence seizure and validated using confusion matrix.

Promoting safe tires with low external rolling noise increases the environmental efficiency of road transport. Although tire builders have been striving to reduce emitted noise, the issue’s sophisticated nature has made it difficult. This article aims to make the problem straightforward, relying on recent significant improvements in statistical science. In this regard, the prediction ability of new methods in this field, including support vector machine, relevance vector machine, and convolutional neural network, along with the new architecture of the neural network is compared. Tire noise is measured under the coast-by condition. Two training strategies are proposed: extracting features from a tread pattern image and directly importing an image to the model. The relevance vector method, which is trained using the first strategy, has provided the most accurate results with an error of 0.62 dB(A) in predicting the total noise level. This precise model is used instead of experimentation to analyze the sensitivity of tire noise to its parameters using a small central composite design. The parametric study reveals striking tips for reducing noise, especially in terms of interactions between parameters that have not previously been shown. Finally, a novel two-stage approach for reducing noise by tread pattern optimization is proposed, inspired by two regression models derived from statistical investigation and variance analysis. Changes in tread pattern specifications of two case studies and their randomization have resulted in a reduction of 3.2 dB(A) for a high-noise tire and 0.4 dB(A) decrement for a quieter tire.

Recently, it has been found that e-commerce (EC) websites provide a large amount of useful information that exceed the human cognitive processing capacity. In order to help customers in comparing alternatives when buying a product, previous research authors have designed opinion summarization systems based on customer reviews. They ignored the template information provided by manufacturers, although its descriptive information has the most useful product characteristics and texts are linguistically correct, unlike reviews. Therefore, this paper proposes a methodology coined as SEOpinion (summarization and exploration of opinions) to summarize aspects and spot opinion(s) regarding them using a combination of template information with customer reviews in two main phases. First, the hierarchical aspect extraction (HAE) phase creates a hierarchy of aspects from the template. Subsequently, the hierarchical aspect-based opinion summarization (HAOS) phase enriches this hierarchy with customers’ opinions to be shown to other potential buyers. To test the feasibility of using deep learning-based BERT techniques with our approach, we created a corpus by gathering information from the top five EC websites for laptops. The experimental results showed that recurrent neural network (RNN) achieved better results (77.4% and 82.6% in terms of F1-measure for the first and second phases, respectively) than the convolutional neural network (CNN) and the support vector machine (SVM) technique.

AbstractThis study presents a new color-depth based face database gathered from different genders and age ranges from Iranian subjects. Using suitable databases, it is possible to validate and assess available methods in different research fields. This database has application in different fields such as face recognition, age estimation and Facial Expression Recognition and Facial Micro Expressions Recognition. Image databases based on their size and resolution are mostly large. Color images usually consist of three channels namely Red, Green and Blue. But in the last decade, another aspect of image type has emerged, named “depth image”. Depth images are used in calculating range and distance between objects and the sensor. Depending on the depth sensor technology, it is possible to acquire range data differently. Kinect sensor version 2 is capable of acquiring color and depth data simultaneously. Facial expression recognition is an important field in image processing, which has multiple uses from animation to psychology. Currently, there is a few numbers of color-depth (RGB-D) facial micro expressions recognition databases existing. With adding depth data to color data, the accuracy of final recognition will be increased. Due to the shortage of color-depth based facial expression databases and some weakness in available ones, a new and almost perfect RGB-D face database is presented in this paper, covering Middle-Eastern face type. In the validation section, the database will be compared with some famous benchmark face databases. For evaluation, Histogram Oriented Gradients features are extracted, and classification algorithms such as Support Vector Machine, Multi-Layer Neural Network and a deep learning method, called Convolutional Neural Network or are employed. The results are so promising.

The amyloid state of proteins is widely studied with relevance to neurology, biochemistry, and biotechnology. In contrast with nearly amorphous aggregation, the amyloid state has a well-defined structure, consisting of parallel and antiparallel β-sheets in a periodically repeated formation. The understanding of the amyloid state is growing with the development of novel molecular imaging tools, like cryogenic electron microscopy. Sequence-based amyloid predictors were developed, mainly using artificial neural networks (ANNs) as the underlying computational technique. From a good neural-network-based predictor, it is a very difficult task to identify the attributes of the input amino acid sequence, which imply the decision of the network. Here, we present a linear Support Vector Machine (SVM)-based predictor for hexapeptides with correctness higher than 84%, i.e., it is at least as good as the best published ANN-based tools. Unlike artificial neural networks, the decisions of the linear SVMs are much easier to analyze and, from a good predictor, we can infer rich biochemical knowledge. In the Budapest Amyloid Predictor webserver the user needs to input a hexapeptide, and the server outputs a prediction for the input plus the 6 × 19 = 114 distance-1 neighbors of the input hexapeptide.

State of charge (SOC) of the lithium-ion batteries is one of the key parameters of the battery management system, which the performance of SOC estimation guarantees energy management efficiency and endurance mileage of electric vehicles. However, accurate SOC estimation is a difficult problem owing to complex chemical reactions and nonlinear battery characteristics. In this paper, the method of the dynamic neural network is used to estimate the SOC of the lithium-ion batteries, which is improved based on the classic close-loop nonlinear auto-regressive models with exogenous input neural network (NARXNN) model, and the open-loop NARXNN model considering expected output is proposed. Since the input delay, feedback delay, and hidden layer of the dynamic neural network are usually selected by empirically, which affects the estimation performance of the dynamic neural network. To cover this weakness, sine cosine algorithm (SCA) is used for global optimal dynamic neural network parameters. Then, the experimental results are verified to obtain the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method under different conditions. Finally, the dynamic neural network based on SCA is compared with unscented Kalman filter (UKF), back propagation neural network based on particle swarm optimization (BPNN-PSO), least-squares support vector machine (LS-SVM), and Gaussian process regression (GPR), the results show that the proposed dynamic neural network based on SCA is superior to other methods.
