Currently, one of the priority medical and social problems is the optimization of treatment methods for pyoderma associated with Streptococcus pyogenes — group A streptococcus (GAS). To date, the proportion of pyoderma, the etiological factor of which is Streptococcus pyogenes, is about 6 % of all skin diseases and is in the range from 17.9 to 43.9 % of all dermatoses. Role of the bacterial factor in the development of streptococcal pyoderma is obvious. Traditional treatment complex includes antibacterial drugs selected individually, taking into account the antibiotic sensitivity of pathognomonic bacteria, and it is not always effective. Currently implemented immunocorrection methods often do not take into account specific immunological features of the disease, the individual, and the fact that the skin performs the function of not only a mechanical barrier, but it is also an immunocompetent organ. Such an approach makes it necessary to conduct additional studies clarifying the role of factors of innate and adaptive immunity, intercellular mediators and antioxidant defense system, that allow to optimize the treatment of this pathology.

In recent years, polyphenols have been extensively studied due to their antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown that anthocyanins, flavonols, and flavan-3-ols play an important role in the prevention of bacterial infections, as well as vascular or skin diseases. Particularly, resveratrol, as a multi-potent agent, may prevent or mitigate the effects of oxidative stress. As the largest organ of the human body, skin is an extremely desirable target for the possible delivery of active substances. The transdermal route of administration of active compounds shows many advantages, including avoidance of gastrointestinal irritation and the first-pass effect. Moreover, it is non-invasive and can be self-administered. However, this delivery is limited, mainly due to the need to overpassing the stratum corneum, the possible decomposition of the substances in contact with the skin surface or in the deeper layers thereof. In addition, using resveratrol for topical and transdermal delivery faces the problems of its low solubility and poor stability. To overcome this, novel systems of delivery are being developed for the effective transport of resveratrol across the skin. Carriers in the micro and nano size were demonstrated to be more efficient for safe and faster topical and transdermal delivery of active substances. The present review aimed to discuss the role of resveratrol in the treatment of skin abnormalities with a special emphasis on technologies enhancing transdermal delivery of resveratrol.

Background: Palmo-plantar psoriasis in a non-inflammatory skin condition in which it is capable to produce functional disability. It is the type of psoriasis which occurs in palms and soles together with features like scaling, erythema and itching, pustules cracked & pain, and is limited. Palmo-plantar is the disease which does not have a specific line of treatment, but can be assessed and treated with classical line of Ayurvedic management. This Palmo-plantar not only affects physically but also disturbs the mental health of patient In Ayurveda all the skin diseases are described under single topic; Kushtha (Skin disorders). As Palmo-Plantar psoriasis is compared with Vipadika Kshudra Kushta (cracked bilateral soles & palms) in Ayurveda, the predominant Dosha’s (fundamental bodily bio-elements) are Vata (governs movement of body & mind) & Kapha (controls immune system) in which Vaman Karma (Emesis) is useful. Aim: To evaluate the role of Ayurveda treatment modalities in Vipadika Kshudra Kushta. Materials & Methods: A case report of 56 year old male patient suffering from scaling of both palms and soles with severe pain since 16 years is presented in this article where the patient got satisfactory relief by adopting Shodhan Karma (purification treatment) followed by Shaman Chikitsa (pacifying treatment) with dietary and behavioral lifestyle modification. The symptoms were reduced by Vaman procedure. Result: Patient got about 80% relief after the treatment by which one can say that the palmo-plantar psoriasis can be treated by Ayurveda Medicine.

Psoriasis is one of the most common chronic recurrent multifactorial diseases of the skin with a predominance of genetic factor. The disease is characterized by hyperproliferation of epidermal cells, impairment in the keratinisation process against inflammatory reactions in the dermis, and by lesions on the nails, joints and scalp. According to the results of clinical and epidemiological research, about 3-4% of the population of our planet has psoriasis, regardless of gender, age and ethnic group, while the share of this pathology in the overall structure of skin diseases reaches from 1% - to 40% [4, 5], according to various data. However, despite the widespread of psoriasis and the large number of works on this problem, there is still no unified view on the pathogenesis of this dermatosis. To clear up the pathogenesis of psoriasis, it is necessary to take into account the insufficiently studied comorbidities typically associated with this pathology. Recently, there has been a tendency towards the growth of psoriatic disease and obesity in the pathogenesis of which a significant role is assigned to systemic inflammation and macrophages. According to the results of this research, it has been found out that obesity and psoriasis has a common link of the pathogenesis, systemic inflammation, which manifests itself in the increased number of macrophages producing a large number of proinflammatory cytokines. Thus, obesity and inflammation causes a vicious circle of cause-and-effect relationships. Obesity provokes inflammation, and inflammation, in turn, increases obesity and prevents weight loss. The close relationship between psoriasis and obesity is extremely important in selecting patient-centred therapy. Therefore, the goal of further research is to carry out detailed study of the psoriatic comorbidities that will contribute into revealing new targets for the treatment of this dermatosis.

The epithelial cytokine interleukin-17C (IL-17C) mediates inflammation through the interleukin 17 receptor E (IL-17RE). Prior studies showed a detrimental role of IL-17C in the pathogenesis of immune-mediated skin diseases (e.g., psoriasis). Here, we examined the role of IL-17C/IL-17RE in wound closure in a Staphylococcus aureus wound infection model. We demonstrate that wound closure is significantly delayed in IL-17RE (Il-17re−/−)- and 17C (Il-17c−/−)-deficient mice. There was no significant difference between WT, Il-17re−/−, and Il-17c−/− mice in the absence of infection. Deficiency for IL-17RE and IL-17C did not significantly affect the elimination of bacteria. IL-17C expression was increased in the epidermis of human S. aureus-infected skin. Our results indicate that the IL-17C/IL-17RE axis contributes to the closure of infected wounds but does not contribute to the elimination of S. aureus.
