Largehead hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus) is one commodity fish catches with high production and value in Yogyakarta. The purpose of this research is to analyse reproductive aspects of this fish in coastal area of Bantul Regency. Yogyakar-ta. Those aspects are gonadal maturity level, fecundity, and the length at the first gonadal maturity. Fish samples are taken from the catch of fisherman using gillnet with a mesh sizes of 1.75 and 2 inches in the coastal fishing port of Depok and Samas. The fish collected from January to April 2016 with at least 30 individuals every two weeks. The samples are identified to find their sex and measured to know the length, weight, and gonadal maturity level (TKG). The data analyzed include length distribution, weight, sex ratio, gonadosmoatic index, length at the first gonadal maturity (Lm), fecundity and oocyte diameter. The result shows the fish length varies between 52.8 and 86.2 cm, and weight 115 and 567.2 g. The sex ratio between male and female was 1:0.6. Gonad maturity stage II and III are found every month observation while gonad maturity stage IV found in April. Oocyte diameter in the stage of gonadal ma-turity IV was 0.35-1.02 mm, there were two distribution modus so that the spawning expected partial spawner with fec-undity of 24.601 eggs with range was 12.873-33.534 eggs. Fecundity increased as parent’s body length with equation F= 0,434L2.60. Hairtail expected reaching the length of the first gonadal maturity in 65.55 cm, higher than the average captured, namely 63.4 cm. AbstrakIkan layur (Trichiurus lepturus) merupakan salah satu komoditas hasil tangkapan ikan di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta dengan jumlah produksi dan nilai yang tinggi. <p>Tank goby (<em>Glossogobius giuris</em>) is a commonly fish found in coastal area. This study was aimed to investigate reproduction of the fish. Samples were collected from July to December 2005 from fish caught by fishermen using gill net and trap net in Ujung Pangkah Waters. Analysis was done to estimate sex ratio, gonad maturity, gonado somatic index, fecundity, and oocyte diameter. During the observation, the tank goby fish was 198 individual consisted of 112 male and 86 female fish varied 63‒230 mm in total body length. Sex ratio was around 1:1.1. First maturity gonad of male was 111‒134mm and female was 87‒110 mm total body length, respectively. According to gonad maturity stage and gonado somatic index, the fish was estimated to spawn from July to December. During July and August, the gonad maturity stage and gonado somatic index were higher indicating a lot of spawning fish during those months. Fecundity was 10,640‒150,639eggs and oocyte diameter was 49‒372 µm. This research was conducted to determine the reproductive aspects of Banggai Cardinal Fish (Pterapogon kauderni) in the Lembeh Strait. Fish samples were obtained by “Small Chang Net” in the Lembeh Strait. The total sample was 150 individuals. Sex Ratio of Pterapogon kauderni in Serena Besar Island 1: 1, in LIPI 1: 1 water, and in Papusungan waters 1: 1. IKG Pterapogon kauderni  in Serena besar location in females obtained 0.26 ± 0.21 and in males 0, 26 ± 0.13. Location of Papusungan, females obtained 1.25 ± 1.00 and in males 0.37 ± 0.16. Then finally, at the LIPI location, females obtained 0.64 ± 1.12 and in males 0.50 ±,69. Gonad Maturity Levels are classified into three categories, young gonads, mature and salty gonads, with a percentage of 25% of individual young gonads, 20% of mature gonads, and 55% of saline gonads, respectively. Gonadal maturity index in each category of gonad maturity is young gonad 0.23, mature 2.16 and salin 0.27. Serena Besar betina diperoleh 0,26 ± 0,21 dan pada jantan 0,26 ± 0,13. Di lokasi Papusungan, betina diperoleh 1,25 ± 1,00 dan pada jantan 0,37 ± 0,16. Kemudian terakhir di lokasi LIPI, pada betina diperoleh 0,64 ± 1,12 dan pada jantan 0,50 ± ,69. Tingkat Kematangan Gonad  dikelompookan dalam tiga kategori yakni gonad muda, matang dan salin, dengan prosentasi masing-masing 25 % idividu gonad muda, 20% gonad matang, dan 55% gonad salin. Indeks kematangan gonad pada setiap kategori kematangan gonad  adalah gonad muda 0,23, matang 2,16 dan salin 0,27.  Fekunditas “Ovarian fecundity“ adalah sebanya 30±11 butir telur, dan fekunditas “Brooding fecundity“ adalah 48±16 butir telur.Kata kunci: Pterapogon kauderni, Nisbah Kelamin, Kematangan Gonad, Fekunditas

Coral fish is the one of the important fish resources in Indonesian waters, but the potential and exploitation rate needs to be obtained. Pink ear emperor is one of coral fish that many caught in Bangka. Research was conducted to determine biological aspect of pink ear emperor caught by fish traps, that includes length distribution, length-weight relationship, sex ratio, maturity stage, food habits, and length at first mature. This research was conducted from February 2014 to November 2015 with sampling location in Sungailiat fishing port. The observed aspects included fork length, weight, sex, gonad maturity and fish stomach contents was done monthly. The results showed the growth pattern are allometric negative,  folk length ranged from 12 to 58 cm. The condition of sex ratio of males to females was 1:2,06. The gonade maturity stage of males and females were stage I, II, III, and IV for all months of observation. Stomach contained was shellfish, crap, shrimp and fish. Length at first capture(Lc) was 28 cm and length at first maturity(Lm) was 26 cm. Size length at first capture was bigger than the size length at first maturity, so the pink ear emperor at Sungailiat available to maintained the balance of fish stock on population.AbstrakIkan karang merupakan salah satu sumber daya yang penting di perairan Indonesia, namun tingkat potensi dan tingkat pemanfaatannya masih perlu untuk dikaji.  Ikan lencam merupakan salah satu ikan karang yang banyak tertangkap di perairan Bangka. Tujuan penelitian ini mengkaji beberapa aspek biologi ikan lencam hasil tangkapan bubu, meliputi sebaran ukuran panjang, pola pertumbuhan, nisbah kelamin, dan ukuran rata-rata pertama kali matang gonad dan kebiasaan makan. Penelitian ini dilaksanankan di PPN Sungailiat pada bulan Februari 2014 – November 2015. Aspek yang diamati meliputi panjang cagak, bobot tubuh ikan, jenis kelamin, kematangan gonad, dan isi lambung ikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pola pertumbuhan  ikan lencam bersifat allometrik negatif. Sebaran ukuran panjang berkisar antara 12 – 58 cm. Nisbah kelamin jantan terhadap betina sebagai 1 : 2,06. Pada setiap bulan pengamatan tingkat kematangan gonad jantan dan  betina berada pada stadia I, II, III, dan IV. Isi lambung ikan lencam selama pengamatan terdiri dari kerang-kerangan, kepiting, udang, dan hancuran ikan. Panjang pertama kali ikan tertangkap (Lc) sebesar 28 cm dan pertama kali matang gonad (Lm) sebesar 26 cm. Rata-rata ukuran pertama kali tertangkap lebih besar dbandingkan dengan ukuran pertama kali matang gonad sehingga ikan lencam di Perairan Bangka masih dapat mempertahankan keseimbangan stok dalam suatu populasi.

This research was carried out in the waters of Latulahalat, Ambon Island from June to August 2016. The objectives of the research were to study some biological aspects namely sex ratio, gonad maturity level, size distribution and growth pattern of scad mackerel, Decaterus russelli. Fish samples were collected every month at fish landing from purse seine fishers. Sex ratios of scad mackerel in the area were equal i.e. 1:1 with the male dominated gonad maturity levels I and IV while female dominated gonad maturity levels II, III and V.  In general, male fishes were smaller than female ones in term of length and weight. Scad mackerel in the area showed positive allometric growth except for male on August which showed isometric growth Keywords: Decaterus russelli, sex ratio, .gonad maturity level, growth pattern

Management of snakehead fish resources in swamp waters need to be done to anticipate a decline in stock in the waters. At this time the area where snakehead fish still have an abundant population is in southern sumatera, precisely in the Belida River, Muara Enim Regency. Until now there has been no information regarding the reproductive aspects of snakehead fish, their location and spawning season. The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the reproductive aspect of snakehead fish which includes sex ratio, gonad maturity level. Gonad maturity index and egg fecundity. The research was conducted in September-December 2019. The location was determined based on the natural conditions of the Belida River and human activities. Fish sampels were caught using experimental gill nets with ½ mash net size. Sampling of fish is done every 4 months with a time interval of once a month. The resuls of study in the male and female fish ratio 1,6:1. This ratio consisted of 109 fish (62,3%) and 66 female fish (37,7%). Gonadal maturity indeks  for male snakehead fish ranged from 0,21 to 0,86, while female snakehead fish ranged from 1,18 to 2,30. snakehead fish egg fecundity were 24.786 eggs with a diameter of 2,20 – 2,51

Pokea clam Batissa violacea var. celebensis von Martens 1897 that inhabits the substrates of some estuaries in Southeast Sulawesi has a tendency to have different reproductive pattern. The aim of this study was to determine the sex ratio, gonadal maturity stage (TKG), gonadal maturity index (IKG) and the size at first gonad maturity of pokea in Lasolo estuary, Southeast Sulawesi.  Samples were randomly collected using a traditional fishing gear called tangge.  Sex ratio, TKG, IKG, and the size at first gonad maturity were determined using standard methods and formulas and then analyzed using Chi Square, quantitative description and non-linear regression. The results showed that the number of males were higher than the numbers of females, ranging from 71.85-89.84% and 10.16-28.15%, respectively.  Gonadal maturity development of male and female occured simultaneously. Early gonadal maturity stage began in January.  Spawning occurs twice, beginning with maturity in April and spawning in May and then again maturity in July and spawning in July until October.  IKG values of male and female were relatively the same ranging from 2.56-31.92. The males matured earlier than the females at size 1.95 cm and 2.15 cm, respectively.   Keywords: female, gonad, male, clam, maturity, spawning

Ikan layang biru (Decapterus macarellus) merupakan salah satu jenis ikan pelagis kecil yang dominan tertangkap dan mempunyai nilai ekonomi yang tinggi, terutama untuk daerah dengan perairan yang lebih oseanik seperti di perairan Indonesia bagian timur. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi parameter populasi ikan layang biru khususnya tertangkap di Laut Sulawesi. Pengambilan sampel ikan untuk diukur panjang cagak dan diamati kematangan gonad dilakukan secara acak setiap bulan. Informasi parameter populasi yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah hubungan panjang-berat, nisbah kelamin, tingkat kematangan gonad, nilai L50% dan Lm, parameter pertumbuhan serta tingkat pemanfaatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebaran ukuran panjang cagak ikan (fork length = FL) berkisar antara 10,25 - 32,25 cm, pola pertumbuhannya bersifat allometrik negatif. Nisbah kelamin ikan layang biru antara jantan : betina tidak berimbang yaitu 1 : 1,963. Ikan layang biru yang tertangkap didominasi oleh ikan dalam kondisi kematangan gonad tingkat III, artinya gonad masih dalam kondisi berkembang. Berdasarkan analisis tingkat kematangan gonad dan nilai indeks gonad dapat diketahui bahwa puncak musim pemijahan ikan terjadi pada bulan Maret. Perbandingan nilai L50% dan Lm diperoleh (L50% > Lm), artinya secara umum ikan telah mengalami matang gonad sebelum ikan tersebut ditangkap. Nilai eksplotasi lebih tinggi dari nilai eksploitasi optimal 0,5 per-tahun. Diduga puncak rekruitmen yang terjadi pada bulan Juni berasal dari musim pemijahan yang terjadi pada bulan Maret.Mackerel scad (Decapterus macarellus) is one of the dominant small pelagic fish species with high economic value, especially for areas with more oceanic waters such as eastern Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to identify the population parameters of the Mackerel scad especially those caught in the Celebes Sea. Fish samples were randomly taken to measure for length measurements and gonad maturity observation every month. Information on population parameters obtained in this study is the length-weight relationship, sex ratio, gonad maturity level, L50% and Lm values, growth parameters, and exploitation rates. The results showed that the distribution of fish length range from 10.25 - 32.25 cm of fork length, with the growth pattern was negative allometric. The sex ratio between males: females was not balanced (1: 1,963). The Mackerel scad caught was dominated by fish in the condition of level III maturity, meaning that each gonad was in a developing condition. Based on the analysis of gonad maturity and gonad index, it can be estimated that the peak of the spawning season occurs in March. A comparison of the values of L50% and Lm obtained was L50% > Lm, meaning that in general, the fish has reached gonad ripening before they were caught. The exploitation rate was higher than the optimal exploitation value of 0.5 per year. It is likely that the peak of recruitment occurred in June came from the spawning season occurred in March.

The striped snakehead (Channa striata Bloch, 1793) is the top predator fish found in Lake Rawa Pening and other freshwaters. Its population was declining due to very high fishing pressures, habitat quality decreases, and other fac-tors. The aim of this study was to examine the condition factor and fecundity of snakehead in Lake Rawa Pening. Fish sampling was carried out monthly from October 2017 to August 2018, using fish fence made from bamboo blinds operated by local fishermen. Total length, individual body weight, stage of gonadal maturity (MS), gonadal weight, and oocytes diameter of fish samples were measured. Fish condition factor, gonado somatic index (GSI), oocyte diameter, fecundity, and the size of first maturity of fish were determined. There were 409 individuals snakehead fish collected consisting of 138 females and 271 males. Fish length ranged from 234-646 mm (males) and 242-648 mm (females). The average of the condition factor (K) of male ranged from 0.778 to 0.923, while in female ranged from 0.826 to 0.929. The relationship between the length-weight of male and female was isometric. The percentage of female snakehead that reached MS I; II; III; IV was 15.6; 27.0; 37.4; 20.0%, respectively. The GSI ranged from 1.52 to 3.54. Oocyte diameter ranged from 0.5 to 1.7 mm with an average of 1.2 mm. Fecundity ranged from 2,843-23,230 eggs with an average of 9,167 eggs. The female snakehead was predicted to reach the first sexual maturity at a total length of 315 mm.
