The aim of the study was to assess the professional risk of developing diseases in workers of the railway car repair enterprise. The Voronezh Car Repair Plant, a branch of Vagonremmash Joint-Stock Company, was chosen as the object of study. Methods: «The methodology for calculating individual occupational risk depending on the working conditions and the health status of the employee», developed by the Klin Institute for Protection and Working Conditions in conjunction with the Research Institute of Occupational Medicine (2013), the main professions; cohort study with the calculation of the relative risk of morbidity with temporary disability, the odds ratio, the etiological share of factors in the formation of morbidity (group size: 250 people, experimental group — workers of the main specialties, 95 people — comparison group). Results. According to the research results, the priority factors of occupational health risk include: chemical, noise, heating microclimate, low light level. For certain professions, the share of the contribution of priority factors to the risk profile (PV) reaches 40 %. The indicator of individual occupational risk is 0.12 to 0.26 units. The high level of professional risk (0.22 ÷ 0.26) is characterized by the working conditions of the mechanics for the repair of rolling stock, machine tools (woodworking), casters (metal), thermists, plastic casters. In professional groups with medium and high risk, the indicator of the relative risk of morbidity with temporary disability is higher than 1 (RR = 1.75 and 1.39, respectively), and the etiological share of production factors in the formation of diseases is from 27.95 (subgroup with secondary professional risk) up to 42.88 % (a subgroup with high professional risk), which indicates the professional condition of the disease. Discussion. In general, our data are consistent with the results of similar studies conducted earlier at the car building and car repair enterprises. In order to ensure hygienically safe working conditions and preserve the health of workers, it is necessary to reduce the level of exposure to production factors, including through the introduction of modern equipment and improvement of technological processes.

Satisfied employees are crucial in developing a successful organization. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that affect job satisfaction among polytechnic academic employees in Malaysia. A cross-sectional study was employed and stratified random sampling was used to collect the data. A total of 130 respondents answered the questionnaires. The results revealed that job security, salary and working conditions had significant and positive influence on job satisfaction among polytechnic academic employees. Hence, strengthening the factors of job security, salary and working conditions among the polytechnic academic employees is critically important to ensure the employees are satisfied which will then lead towards a successful polytechnic.

The article describes the concept of “performance management” through the audit of personnel; the defi nition of the audit of personnel, taking into account regional characteristics. The materials of the audit of personnel at the Ulan-Ude Aviation plant are presented. The main problem of large enterprises is the cost of personnel, so the main focus of this study is the audit of personnel costs. Staff costs of the organization — generally recognized for countries with market economies, an integral indicator that includes a set of costs associated with the attraction, remuneration, incentives, solving social problems, organization of work and improvement of working conditions of staff , which ultimately aff ects the effi ciency of staff . In this regard, the author analyzed labor indicators and identifi ed methods to reduce personnel costs.

Background. Table beet (Beta vulgaris L.) is a source of ‘betanin’, a natural food dye known as food additive E-162. The VIR collection holds a large diversity of red beet accessions. It is the base for obtaining source material to breed cultivars with high betanin content.Materials and methods. In the framework of this study, which lasted from 2015 to 2018, a group of 29 accessions identified during the screening was analyzed. The pigment was assessed at the laboratory of the ECO RESOURCE Joint-Stock Company using Spectrophotometer SF-2000. Field experiments were performed according to VIR’s guidelines in 2015–2017 at Pushkin and Pavlovsk Laboratories of VIR, Volgograd Experiment Station of VIR, and Maikop Experiment Station of VIR.Results. Environmental and geographic tests demonstrated that the ability to accumulate the pigment was variable among the red beet accessions, and its concentrations were notably different. The research showed that accumulation of betanin is primarily associated with agroclimatic growing conditions. The dynamics of pigment accumulation can be both positive and negative. The optimal zone for growing the studied accession is Leningrad Province, where the highest content of betanin was observed. Mid-ripening and cold-resistant old landraces were a reference point in the search for the desired genotypes.Conclusion. The process of pigment accumulation is extremely responsive to weather conditions, soil water balance, and watering uniformity. The negative impact of these factors would smooth down the crop’s varietal polymorphism. Diseases and insect pests have led to slowing and stopping the accumulation of betanin. As a result of the comprehensive agroecological study of prototypes, promising accessions were identified and recommended for cultivation in Leningrad Province with the aim of betanin production.

An open-label, retrospective comparative clinical trial evaluated the efficacy of Temobel (RUP Belmedpreparaty) and Temodal (Schering-Plough, the Office of the Joint-Stock Company «Schering-Plough Central East AG») in 90 patients with high-grade (III-IV) glial brain tumors within a postoperative chemoradiotherapy course (a total target dose of 50-60 Gy). The compared groups, 45 patients in each, were fully matchable in prognostic factors affecting treatment outcomes. Median survival, 1- and 3-year overall survivals with Temobel in the combination treatment scheme were 20 months, 72.7±6.7% and 23.7±9.5%, whereas with Temodal they were 17 months, 77.8±6.2% and 30.3±7.0% respectively (P=0.935). Meanwhile, progressive-free median survival and progressive-free 1- and 3-year survival with Temobel and Temodal were 12 months, 51.0±7.5%, 21.3±6.4% and 11 months, 49.3±7.6%, 15.5±5,7% respectively (P=0.814). No statistically significant differences were found in the survival of patients in the compared groups.

Orientation: Globally, people engage in work and sell their services to an organisation in exchange for compensation. This compensation can have a significant effect on employees’ attitude towards their work, resulting in either job satisfaction or job dissatisfaction. A high level of job satisfaction can increase organisational effectiveness and, subsequently, the organisation’s performance, whereas job dissatisfaction can cause employees to be less motivated, which can in turn decrease their productivity, effectiveness and individual performance.Research purpose: This study was conducted with the aim to investigate undergraduate students’ perceptions of the factors affecting job satisfaction.Motivation for the study: Currently, there is a paucity of published research on the views of undergraduate students on the factors affecting job satisfaction.Research approach/design and method: The study took a positivistic research approach, and a quantitative design was used. A stratified quota sampling technique was employed to select the respondents for the study; a certain quota was met in terms of race, gender and faculty of study. In total, 270 undergraduate students participated in the study.Main findings: The empirical results indicated no significant association between the demographic variables (previous work experience, gender, race and field of study) and almost all occupational dimensions of job satisfaction, working conditions and recognition. However, medium to large positive relations were measured between the dimensions of job satisfaction, working conditions and recognition. It was evident from the study that all the dimensions measured are considered important for obtaining job satisfaction in the workplace.Practical and managerial implications: It is important for managers to get an understanding of the views of young people on work-related issues in order to create an understanding of young people’s needs and aspirations, as they are the future permanent labour force, managers and leaders of a country.Contribution/value-add: The study brought to light the views of undergraduate students on the factors affecting job satisfaction.
