Lapan-A2 Satellite, also known as LAPAN-ORARI, is the second satellite developed by the Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) especially by Satellite Technology Center. This satellite was launched in 2015 which one of the payloads is for amateur radio communication such as VR (Voice Repeater) and APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System). The APRS is a method of transmitting messages, status and positions using certain range of frequency and often used by Search and Rescue (SAR) team. Due to its function, APRS are not only used for disaster mitigation but also transmit various kind of data such as text message and weather information. In order to receive such information, APRS must be equipped with supporting devices. Formerly, APRS utilize terminal node controller and special hardware to decode its information but those technology is quite expensive. To address that challenge, this paper proposed an alternative way to decode the information send both from satellite APRS and terrestrial APRS by using raspberry Pi to replace those high-cost system.

Background: In China, where follow-up with hospitalized attempters is generally lacking, there is a great need for inexpensive and effective means of maintaining contact and decreasing recidivism. Aims: Our objective was to test whether mobile telephone message contacts after discharge would be feasible and acceptable to suicide attempters in China. Methods: Fifteen participants were recruited from suicide attempters seen in the Emergency Department in Wuhan, China, to participate in a pilot study to receive mobile telephone messages after discharge. All participants have access to a mobile telephone, and there is no charge for the user to receive text messages. Results: Most participants (12) considered the text message contacts an acceptable and useful form of help and would like to continue to receive them for a longer period of time. Conclusions: This suggests that, as a low-cost and quick method of intervention in areas where more intensive follow-up is not practical or available, telephone messages contacts are accessible, feasible, and acceptable to suicide attempters. We hope that this will inspire future research on regular and long-term message interventions to prevent recidivism in suicide attempters.

Vehicle collision sensor system and reporting accident to police is an electronic device installed in a vehicle to inform police man in case of accident to track the vehicles location. This system works using pressure sensor, GPS and GSM technology. These technology embedded together to sense the vehicle collision and indicate the position of the vehicle or locate the place of accident in order to solve the problem immediately (as soon as possible). For doing so AT89S52 microcontroller is interfaced serially to a GSM modem, GPS receiver, and pressure sensor. A GSM modem is used to send the position (Latitude and Longitude) of the vehicle, the plate of the vehicle and the SMS text from the accident place. The GPS modem will continuously give the data (longitude and latitude) and Load sensor senses the collision of the vehicle against obstacles and input to microcontroller. As load sensor senses the collision, the GSM start to send the plate of the vehicle, text message and the position of the vehicle in terms of latitude and longitude in real time.

The demise of the S&L industry should not have come as a surprise given the obstacles placed on a free market by the regulatory system. The lack of an economic accounting information system providing information of an institutions real value has been identified as instrumental in not allowing regulators timely detection of this situation. This article discusses an economic reporting system based on market values to replace the present historical cost system.

Heart disease has the second high mortality rate behind cancer in Japan, and requires quick treatment. To take a part in emerging mHealth, the authors developed a wearable electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring and alerting system “iHeart”. iHeart continuously monitors patient's ECG in his/her daily activities and issues an alert to the patient as well as surrounding people if it detects abnormal heart behaviour. iHeart consists of a wireless ECG sensor and a smartphone to achieve light-weighted, low-cost system that does not degrade the patient's Quality of Life. In parallel, the authors developed ECG analysis algorithm to detect R-wave as well as arrhythmia, and implemented these algorithms in wireless ECG sensor rather than in smartphone to save power consumption of ECG sensor caused by radio communication. The authors proof the practicality and usefulness of our system in clinical experiment. This paper describes the implementation of iHeart, evaluation experiment, and future requirements of the system.

Abstract Background We describe differences for probability of receiving a fistula attempt, achieving fistula use, remaining catheter-free and the rate of access-related procedures as a function of sex. Methods Prospectively collected vascular access data on incident dialysis patients from five Canadian programs using the Dialysis Measurement Analysis and Reporting System to determine differences in fistula-related outcomes between women and men. The probability of receiving a fistula attempt and the probability of fistula use were determined using binary logistic regression. Catheter and fistula procedure rates were described using Poisson regression. We studied time to fistula attempt and time to fistula use, accounting for competing risks. Results We included 1446 (61%) men and 929 (39%) women. Men had a lower body mass index (P < 0.001) and were more likely to have coronary artery disease (P < 0.001) and peripheral vascular disease (p < 0.001). A total of 688 (48%) men and 403 (43%) women received a fistula attempt. Women were less likely to receive a fistula attempt by 6 months {odds ratio [OR] 0.64 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.52–0.79]} and to achieve catheter-free use of their fistula by 1 year [OR 0.38 (95% CI 0.27–0.53)]. At an average of 2.30 access procedures per person-year, there is no difference between women and men [incidence rate ratio (IRR) 0.97 (95% CI 0.87–1.07)]. Restricting to those with a fistula attempt, women received more procedures [IRR 1.16 (95% CI 1.04–1.30)] attributed to increased catheter procedures [IRR 1.50 (95% CI 1.27–1.78)]. There was no difference in fistula procedures [IRR women versus men 0.96 (95% CI 0.85–1.07)]. Conclusion Compared with men, fewer women undergo a fistula attempt. This disparity increases after adjusting for comorbidities. Women have the same number of fistula procedures as men but are less likely to successfully use their fistula.

Enrolling in publicly funded early childhood education involves searching for programs, applying, verifying eligibility, and registering with the program. Many families do not complete this process, despite demonstrated interest. In this study, we assessed support for families as they verify eligibility as a means for increasing enrollment completion rates. Working with district administrators, we randomly assigned families to receive either (a) the district’s usual, modest communications; (b) the usual communications plus weekly text message reminders with a formal tone; or (c) the usual communications plus weekly personalized, friendly text message reminders. Text message reminders increased verification rates by seven percentage points (regardless of tone), and personalized messages increased enrollment rates for some groups. Exchanges between parents and administrators revealed the obstacles parents confronted.

Skilled forelimb function in mice is traditionally studied through behavioral paradigms that require extensive training by investigators and are limited by the number of trials individual animals are able to perform within a supervised session. We developed a skilled lever positioning task that mice can perform within their home cage. The task requires mice to use their forelimb to precisely hold a lever mounted on a rotary encoder within a rewarded position to dispense a water reward. A Raspberry Pi microcomputer is used to record lever position during trials and to control task parameters, thus making this low-footprint apparatus ideal for use within animal housing facilities. Custom Python software automatically increments task difficulty by requiring a longer hold duration, or a more accurate hold position, to dispense a reward. The performance of individual animals within group-housed mice is tracked through radio-frequency identification implants, and data stored on the microcomputer may be accessed remotely through an active internet connection. Mice continuously engage in the task for over 2.5 mo and perform ~500 trials/24 h. Mice required ~15,000 trials to learn to hold the lever within a 10° range for 1.5 s and were able to further refine movement accuracy by limiting their error to a 5° range within each trial. These results demonstrate the feasibility of autonomously training group-housed mice on a forelimb motor task. This paradigm may be used in the future to assess functional recovery after injury or cortical reorganization induced by self-directed motor learning. NEW & NOTEWORTHY We developed a low-cost system for fully autonomous training of group-housed mice on a forelimb motor task. We demonstrate the feasibility of tracking both end-point, as well as kinematic performance of individual mice, with each performing thousands of trials over 2.5 mo. The task is run and controlled by a Raspberry Pi microcomputer, which allows for cages to be monitored remotely through an active internet connection.

This article proposes an Internet of Things–based smart home system composed of a virtualized cloud server and a mobile phone app. The smart Internet of Things–based system includes a sensing network, which is developed with the ZigBee wireless communication protocol, a message queuing telemetry transport, a virtualized cloud server and a mobile phone app. A Raspberry Pi development board is used to receive packet information from the terminal sensors using ZigBee wireless communication. Then, the message queuing telemetry transport broker not only completes transmission of the message but also publishes it to the virtualized cloud server. The transmission can then be viewed through the website using a mobile phone. The designed app combines the application of the virtualized cloud server, client sensors and the database. Verification experiments revealed the measured average response time and throughput of approximately 4.0 s and 6069 requests per second, respectively, for the virtualized web server and approximately 0.144 s and 8866 packets per second, respectively, for the message queuing telemetry transport broker. The designed functions of the mobile phone app are a global positioning system home monitoring, family memo, medical care and near-field communication key. Both interlinkage and handler methods are proposed to facilitate a powerful function without delay in displaying information. The proposed system integrates with software and hardware to complete the data analysis and information management quickly and correctly. It can cater to user needs with superior ease and convenience.
