ABSTRAK Keadaan dunia pendidikan di Indonesia masih belum menggembirakan, kendala diantaranya adalah keterbatasan akses pendidikan, jumlah guru yang tidak merata serta kualitas dari guru dinilai masih kurang. Menurut survei Political and Economic Risk Consultant (PERC), kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia berada pada urutan ke-12 dari 12 negara di Asia. Posisi Indonesia berada di bawah Vietnam. Salah satu langkah pemerintah untuk menghadapi masalah ini adalah dengan mengadakan program Indonesia mengajar yaitu merekrut, melatih dan mengirimkan anak muda Indonesia yang merupakan lulusan terbaik perguruan tinggi, untuk bertugas selama satu tahun di berbagai daerah di Indonesia sebagai guru sekolah dasar. Di luar tugas dasarnya sebagai guru, para Pengajar Muda ini memiliki mandat untuk menggerakkan perubahan perilaku di tempatnya bertugas menjadi lebih baik. Dan sebagai bentuk dukungan terhadap program ini, Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen IPMI melakukan pelatihan untuk para Calon Pengajar Muda (CPM) terutama untuk kemampuan kepemimpinan dan pelatihan. Metode yang digunakan pada pelatihan ini berupa ceramah, tanya-jawab, studi kasus, dengan menjelaskan kepemimpinan secara umum, kepemimpinan dalam diri sendiri, kepemimpinan dan hubungannya dalam membangun hubungan yang efektif dengan pihak lain, bagaimana melakukan coaching yang efektif terhadap pihak lain,  dan bagaimana memberi feedback/umpan balik yang efektif kepada pihak lain. Setelah pelatihan ini, diharapkan para CPM akan memiliki dan mendemonstrasikan ketrampilan perilaku  kepemimpinan yang siap menjalani tantangan serta dapat menginspirasi peserta didik dan pihak lainnya. ABSTRACT In general, the condition of the education in Indonesia yet is not encouraging, among others many obstacles noted; limitation of education access, the number of teachers which is not evenly distributed, particularly to the remote areas and the quality of the teachers which does not yet meet the expectation. As per Political and Economic Risk Consultant (PERC) survey, the quality of education in Indonesia was ranked at number 12 out of 12 countries in Asia. Indonesia position was below Vietnam. One of the initiative, which is taken by the Indonesian government to reduce the gap is creating a program so called Indonesia teaching (Indonesia mengajar) by recruiting, training, and sending young people who are the best graduates of many universities to teach as elementary school teachers for one year from all over the places within Indonesia. Aside of their main duty to teach, they also have been mandated to change the behavior of the people around to be better. To support the said program, Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen IPMI has conducted a workshop regarding leadership and coaching for the candidates of young teachers (CPM). The methods of the workshop are lecturing, question and answer, case study, an explanation of the definition of the leadership in general, the leadership within own self, the leadership in regards to building the effective interrelationship with other people, how doing the effective coaching, how to give the effective feedback. Upon completion of the workshop it is expected that the CPMs will be able  to demonstrate the leadership behavior, ready to undergo the challenges and to inspire their students including other people surrounding.

The definition of quality of life is varied. Different individuals may perceive the quality of life in a different form of other individuals. Over more than four decades, Malaysia has made remarkable achievements regarding its economic growth as well as its socio-economic development. Numerous factors have been identified that may influence the quality of life of the people according to their personal preferences. This article assessed the perception of 100 respondent's lives in two major cities in Malaysia namely Johor Bharu and Petaling. These cities are also the major district in Johor Darul Takzim and Selangor Darul Ehsan. These study also would be focusing on the economic well-being of the individual. The economic individual is economic capacity, transportation, living condition and educational satisfaction.

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is compulsory in all types of new development. EIA is important to ensure that biological diversity is maintained and that development will not have any affect on the people and other species in that area. The aim of this study is to investigate the environmental impact on human wellbeing in the vicinity of quarrying. It will increase the awareness of the local population of the important factors that might affect the quality of their lives. A set of questionnaires was distributed to the community at Bandar Saujana Putra and Taman Kajang Perdana, in Selangor. A total of 60 residents were involved in the study. The results reveal that the community was concerned about health conditions and safety. However, there is still a lack of strategies to mitigate the problem. This study provides suggestions for mitigation that could be considered by the residents to reduce the effect of poor air quality caused by incorrect control and monitoring of activities in the area. It is anticipated that this study could assist both residents and authorities in improving the quality of the air as well as the residents’ quality of life.

AbstractThe central aim of the article is company governance, i.e., researching governance of a company that does not want to be only financially successful but also direct its governance toward socially responsible governance. The article begins with the definition of “theoretical backgrounds,” in which social responsibility in regard to company governance improvement in quality is explained. The article then focuses on the measurement of the quality of company governance; in the research, the selected tool chosen to evaluate the governance of the chosen company regarding social responsibility, i.e., SEECGAN index, is used. Further, the case study of a Slovenian public limited liability company is used. One of the important research findings is the recognition that the addressed part of the SEECGAN index needs to be innovated and further developed. Additional questions for the completion of the index used presents the added value of the article. This article has two limitations: 1) it focuses only on the tool chosen to evaluate the governance of the chosen company regarding social responsibility; 2) the case study is based on publicly accessible data.

This chapter proposes a framework for analyzing the credibility of online news sites, allowing diaspora populations to evaluate the credibility of online news about their home countries. A definition of credibility is established as a theoretical framework for analysis, and a framework of seven elements is developed based on the following elements: accuracy, authority, believability, quality of message construction, peer review, comparison, and corroboration. Later, those elements are applied to a variety of online news sources available to the Zimbabwean diaspora that serves as a case study for explaining the framework. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the framework in relation to some contextual circumstances of diaspora populations and presents some limitations of the framework as diaspora populations might actually apply the different elements.

Software entities (software products or processes) are characterized by many attributes, each one in its turn can be measured by one or more measures. In several cases the software entities have to be evaluated as a whole, thus raising the problem of aggregating measures to give an overall, single view on the software entity. This paper presents a method to aggregate measures, which works by comparing the product/process with predefined, ideal entities, or profiles. Profiles are defined starting from ranges of values on measures of attributes. The method is based on two main phases, namely definition of the evaluation model and application of the evaluation model. It is presented through a simplified case study that deals with evaluating the level of quality of an asset to decide whether to accept it in a reuse repository. A plausible way of how the method could be applied to process maturity assessment is also provided. The advantages of the method are that it allows using ordinal scales, while it deals explicitly with preferences expressed, implicitly or explicitly, by the evaluator.

According to the definition of International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) M-13 2005, the LowestAstronomical Tide (LAT) is Internationally used as chart datum, which is used as instruction for measuring thevalidation of high water surface in the Hydro-oceanography survey. It is predicted by tide prediction for 18.61years. This research is observed minimized in one year. In determining of LAT, it will be analyzed by the tideConstanta and prediction analysis.The analysis of tide Constanta will be calculated by the Rayleigh numberingmethod (the smallest quadrat), start on tide data observation for one month, two months, three months, fourmonths, six months until twelve months data of tide observation. Afterward, from that analysis results of t ideConstanta, it can be predicted the tide for 18.61 years. From this result, the prediction will be found thedifference of the LAT value of tide data less than in one year with tide data in one year. Then, from thedifference of LAT values can be analyzed at a significant level by using the statistical approach. From the resultof the LAT calculation by using data observation of tide in one year will be got the LAT position that is 43.3 cm.If comparing with LAT value which uses a variety of data less than in one year, it will result in the level ofsignificant differences. In this case, LAT value thas is calculated by data less than in one year cannot beequated with LAT which is used by observation of tide data in one year.Keywords: LAT, Tide Component, and interval of tide observation.

Management of land and water resources has emerged as a vital issue in promoting biodiversity and ecological security programmes. The basic message of ecological security is not of containing development to save ecology but of managing ecology to promote development. What is good for development is equally good for ecology. Developmentalists point out that development not only provides for all-round expansion of the economy but also brings capacity for improving the quality of ecology. Therefore the basic issue is that the wheel of development must move on but it should advance within the supportive capacity of the ecosystem. Any desired development should have the ingredients of efficiency, equity and democracy. When this is done the people tend to take ecology-friendly decisions. The validity of the above ideas is tested through a case study on Palar river basin. Management of Palar river basin against water pollution requires effective monitoring and implementation of protective measures not only for the management of water care but also for the land care as well. In doing so, this study analyses the grave problems posed by tannery effluents and suggest measures for achieving sustainable development, environment and livelihood security.

Commonly used GIS combination operators such as Boolean conjunction/disjunction and weighted linear combination can be generalized to the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) family of operators. This multicriteria evaluation method allows decision-makers to define a decision strategy on a continuum between pessimistic and optimistic strategies. Recently, OWA has been introduced to GIS-based decision support systems. We propose to extend a previous implementation of OWA with linguistic quantifiers to simplify the definition of decision strategies and to facilitate an exploratory analysis of multiple criteria. This study describe the design features and performance of the unglazed transpired solar dryer for large and medium scale drying of Dates in the Dates growing area of Pakistan. The dryer has the designed capacity to dry 500 Kg of Dates from Khalaal (70% humidity) to Tamar (25% humidity), at 55 C ± 5 C in 72 continuous hours using biomass furnace as an auxiliary heat source and it covers approximately 256 m2 areas. This is the ideal humidity condition to store Dates for one year without any further degradation. In traditional open sunshine the huge quantity of Dates are dried in over 150 h hours and requires hectare of area to spread the Dates. Moreover, the quality of Dates in the open sunshine is affected badly due to two main reasons. Firstly, the heavy dust in the area that sticks the Dates during the drying process makes them unable to eat. Secondly, the Monsoon rains in the months of July and August also destroys Dates placed in the open areas for drying. Dera Ismail (D.I.) Khan, a remote district of Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa province of Pakistan, was selected to study the performance of Dates dryer, where solar insolation is 700-750 W/m2 in the months of July and August. The Dates were dried continuously and during off sunshine hours biomass auxiliary source was used. This solar dryer, containing eight trolleys and each trolley is loaded with twelve trays, is the first in Pakistan to dry a large amount of Dates. Moreover, the unglazed transpired dryer is designed in such a way that it can withstand the dusty atmosphere of D.I. Khan and also protect the Dates from dust and rainy water during the drying period. The design does not have any adverse effect on the quality of dried Dates. In D.I. Khan around 350 days are sunny per year and solar thermal technology is economically feasible compared to other conventional energy resources with a payback period of 3 and 7.5 years compared to un-subsided and subsided cost of Natural Gas respectively. The Natural Gas is the cheapest conventional energy source in Pakistan. But solar thermal technology is yet not popular source of energy in the area due to lack of information, fear of initial capital cost and weak government policies for renewable energies. This study also incorporates the recommendations to overcome these issues regarding Solar Thermal Technology, PACS Number: 44.40.+a, 89.30.Cc, 84.60.- h, 89.30.-g.
