ABSTRACT One of the nursing processes is determining nursing diagnoses. The determination of nursing diagnoses is based on the theory used, one of which is Carpenito's theory, which is based on patient responses as a guide in determining nursing diagnoses. This theory is not in line with the current situation. So this theory cannot answer the needs of patients because patients who are hospitalized cannot always respond or complain. Based on these problems, the authors provide instructions for determining nursing diagnoses based on the Abdella Faya theory, which is based on body physiological disorders. The service targets are nurses in the Bangil Hospital treatment room. The problem is resolved in two stages of activity, namely preparation and implementation. Preparation is carried out by conducting research in 2017 to see conditions in the field regarding nurses' procedures for determining nursing diagnoses. Implementation is carried out by the lecture method, namely the technique of determining nursing diagnoses and case exercises as a form of nursing diagnosis determination workshop activities. The results of the training activities show the level of success with an indication of the suitability of the material with the needs of nurses in determining nursing diagnoses, a positive response from the participants and the majority (90% of participants have understood the concept and how to determine nursing diagnoses.   Key words: determination, nursing diagnosis, Patient Centered, Bangil  general Hospital

OBJECTIVE: To develop nursing diagnosis statements for the elderly based on the Activities of Living Model and on the International Classification for Nursing Practice. METHOD: Descriptive and exploratory study, put in practice in two stages: 1) collection of terms and concepts that are considered clinically and culturally relevant for nursing care delivered to the elderly, in order to develop a database of terms and 2) development of nursing diagnosis statements for the elderly in primary health care, based on the guidelines of the International Council of Nurses and on the database of terms for nursing practice involving the elderly. RESULTS: 414 terms were identified and submitted to the content validation process, with the participation of ten nursing experts, which resulted in 263 validated terms. These terms were submitted to cross mapping with the terms of the International Classification for Nursing Practice, resulting in the identification of 115 listed terms and 148 non-listed terms, which constituted the database of terms, from which 127 nursing diagnosis statements were prepared and classified into factors that affect the performance of the elderly's activities of living - 69 into biological factors, 19 into psychological, 31 into sociocultural, five into environmental, and three into political-economic factors. CONCLUSIONS: After clinical validation, these statements can serve as a guide for nursing consultations with elderly patients, without ignoring clinical experience, critical thinking and decision-making.

Background:Production of antibodies to ceruloplasmin (CP) in rheumatoid arthritis is an issue that has not been studied well enough. It was not by chance that this copper–containing alpha 2-glycorpoteid of blood plasma showing multienzymatic properties was chosen as an object of investigation. Data on the content and activity of CP in the blood of rheumatoid arthritis patients are contradictory, which has to do with different approaches to selection of patients and different measuring methods. Objectives:Improving diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis by determination of antibodies to CP as well as its amount and enzymatic activity. Methods:We studied the serum from 30 apparently healthy individuals, and 108 rheumatoid arthritis patients. Antibodies to CP were determined by enzyme immunoassay using immobilized granulated antigen preparations (modification by Gontar et al, 2002). The amount of CP was determined by enzyme immunoassay according to the method of I.S. Kuzmina et al (1991) using commercial diagnostic agent manufactured by Mechnikov Research Institute for Vaccines and Sera. Results:Enzyme immunoassay showed a mean level of CP antibodies in donor sera of 0,020±0,006 optical density units. The level of normal values of specific antibodies determined as M±2σ included an extinction value in the range 0 – 0,086. The mean value of oxidase activity and the amount of CP in healthy people was 716±26,3 and 921±32 ng/ml, correspondingly. In the process of study we revealed a reliable increase in CP antibody count, the activity and amount of CP in patients with rheumatoid arthritis while in all cases the parameters under study correlated with the degree of disease activity (p<0,05): at activity degree I CP antibodies were 0,098±0,011; CP activity was 954±48,1; CP amount was 1292±73,4. At activity degree II CP antibodies were 0,138±0,007; CP activity was 1163±39,6; CP amount was 1763±69,3. At activity degree III, CP antibodies were 0,182±0,015; CP activity was 1368±89,5; CP amount was 1794±102,8. After a course of hospital treatment was completed, we noted a reliable decrease in the activity and amount of CP (at degree I of rheumatoid arthritis activity p<0,001, at degree II of rheumatoid arthritis activity p<0,01for both parameters; at degree III, p<0,05) compared with baseline findings. A decrease in CP antibodies shows decelerated dynamics, especially in patients with pronounced disease activity, which indicates severe disorders in the immunity that cannot be cured completely within 30 – 40 days of hospital treatment course. Conclusion:Determination of CP antibodies, as well as quantitative content of CP and its oxidase activity can serve as indicators of the activity of rheumatoid arthritis, as well as an accessory criterion of the effectiveness of administered therapy.Disclosure of Interests:None declared

ABSTRACT Objective: identify nursing diagnoses in patients with immune-bullous dermatosis. Method: a quantitative and descriptive research, carried out in three institutions located in Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, using the Client Assessment Protocol in Dermatology during a nursing consultation. Simple descriptive statistics was used for data analysis. Results: 14 subjects participated in the study, nine with a diagnosis of pemphigus vulgaris, pemphigus two and three of bullous pemphigoid. The age ranged between 27 and 82 years, predominantly females (11). 14 nursing diagnoses were discussed and identified from a clinical rationale in all study participants, representing the most common human responses in this sample. The application of the Assessment Protocol in Dermatology facilitated the comprehensive assessment, in addition to providing the identification of diagnostics according to the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association International. Conclusion: the nursing diagnoses presented confirm the necessity of interdisciplinary work during the care for this clientele. For better description of the phenomena related to the client in question, it is suggested the inclusion of two risk factors related in three diagnoses of this taxonomy. It is worth noting the contribution of the findings for the care, education and research in nursing in dermatology.

This descriptive, cross-sectional study investigated problems experienced by patients after undergoing a thyroidectomy. The study included 60 first-time, post-thyroidectomy patients diagnosed with benign thyroid disease from a university hospital’s general surgery clinic in Ankara, Turkey. The data were collected in two stages: interviews with patients on the first day following surgery and postoperative follow-up telephone interviews in each of the first 4 weeks following surgery. The follow-ups revealed that patients principally experienced varying degrees of pain and difficulties in connection with work and recreation, communication, body image, and movement, for up to 4 weeks after surgery. These results showed that patients were particularly prone to problems on the first day and during the first week of the postoperative period; therefore, patients should be provided with follow-up telephone interviews to facilitate easier recovery and to help them overcome any problems experienced during the postoperative period.
