Reasoning that is constructed from remembering is imitative reasoning, while the opposite is creative reasoning. This study aims to explore creative mathematical reasoning in solving geometric problems. Mathematical creative reasoning is reasoning that contains elements of novelty, plausibility, and mathematical foundation. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, which is explorative. The research subjects were the first-semester student in the mathematics education study program with 32 students. The results showed that from 32 students, there was only one student identified as having creative mathematical reasoning in solving geometry problems. Creative mathematical reasoning can be identified when the subject is able to reason algorithmically but is aware of problems so they cannot be resolved algorithmically so that they must form new reasoning, which consists of novelty, plausibility, and mathematical foundation. Creative mathematical reasoning arises after students make an algorithmic reasoning process, but find no solution. Novelty is the weakest indicator of creative mathematical reasoning, so it requires scaffolding to bring it up.

Achieving learning outcome requires a set of the material that can be understood easily by the students. The material should be appropriate in the learning process. It should give the opportunity for the students to learn both in the classroom and out of the classroom. The students can learn independently by using the appropriate material. However, the material of Basic English Grammar is still quite enough to give a chance for the students to practice and learn cooperatively. This research is aimed obtain e-module of Basic English Grammar, so that it can be used as a source of learning for first semester students of English Study Program of FKIP-UIR. The research method used in this study is R & D (Research and development) of Borg and Gall. The participant of this research is 30 students from first semester who learn Basic English Grammar. In this research, the researcher tried to find out students’ need because it is the first step to do in this research design. So, the data was obtained by writing test. The findings suggest that the participants made 386 errors in writing their paragraph. There are 45 errors (11.66%) of the agreement of singular and plural, 106 errors (27.46%) of the using of verb tense, 51 errors (13.21%) of the finite verb, 25 errors (2.48%) of the non-finite verb, 28 errors (7.25%) of the pronoun, 20 errors (5.18%) in using the preposition, 9 errors (2.33%) of the context of usage, 55 errors (14.25%) of the context of meaning, 22 errors (5.70%) of the word choice and 25 errors (6.48%) of word order. To sum up, the most frequent grammatical errors made by the students are errors in writing verb tense. Based on this finding, the researcher will design e-module of Basic English Grammar.

This study is aimed at developing rubrics of six tasks of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) the subject of the KKNI Industrial Revolution 4.0-based of an English Education Study Program at UNIMED. The objectives of this research are to analyze the rubrics of TEFL subject used at the 3rd semester of English Education Study Program and develop the appropriate KKNI rubrics based on the students’ needs. This study is mainly focused on developing Critical Book Report, Critical Journal Report, Engineering Ideas, Mini Research, and Projects rubrics. Research and Development applied in this research and the results show that the rubrics used in the 3rd semester at English Education Study Program is developed through implementing the simplification of R&D. The rubrics indicated low competency for the students after analyzing the questionnaires given. New rubrics are designed to answer the needs of the students. Generally, the existing TEFL rubrics are less relevant for the needs of 3rd semester students. In terms of descriptor rubrics, they are not suitable with the needs of the Lesson Plan and the tasks of TEFL rubrics needed by the students are irrelevant for their needs where the topics or contents used in the course book are useful in the learning outcome of this subject.

Through the analysis of lexical density, students’ progress in language learning, especially in writing can be identified. This article aimed to find out lexical density of students’ writing and to explain how  lexical density shows their ability in writing an academic text. The data were taken from the introduction section of thesis proposals written by English graduate students, with the readers of higher education level. By statistical and descriptive analysis, the study reveals that the lexical density of students’ writing is categorized as less dense (51.19%). Grammatical complexity became the major factor that contributed to lexical density. It was revealed that the complexities emerged since students still have limited knowledge about the language use in writing an academic text. The fact shows that students’ ability in writing  academic text is still in average level. This implies that the ones who write the text should consider the high density for the academic text. It is recommended to provide the topic of lexical density in the subject of academic writing subject in the syllabus of English study program of higher education.
