Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are considered as crucial elements in educational processes, as they constitute relevant and necessary tools in the search for higher levels of socioeconomic development. In this context, ICTs have raised the challenge of finding pedagogical models that maximize their impact on teachers and students. The Business Services and Management Center of the SENA Regional Antioquia has a wide range of technical training programs, for a rapid immersion into the labor market, which implies the use of training technologies to ease the understanding of theoretical concepts and the practice of technical procedures. In addition, these programs require the development of skills allowing their students to perform correctly in the workplace. Considering the above, videogames arise as an alternative tool for training operations. This article presents a review of training tools based on virtual reality, focusing mainly on the design of the game elements and their dynamics, which can contribute to magnify user experiences. Moreover, we present some projects showing success stories in the learning process and discussing the impact of the elements and game mechanics.

Background: The Teaching of Modern and Contemporary Physics (MCP) appears in the PCN + and  in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) for High School. Its application encounters cognitive obstacles by students, added to the little didactic literature or research in teaching, as well as didactic experiments. Objectives: This work presents a project to develop didactic videos for teaching MCP. It is an articulation between undergraduate and graduate courses, in the conception and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in  MCP  by teachers. Design: Conception is based on Gowin’s Triad, where teaching materials are one of the vertices of the sharing of meanings involving teachers and students, as well as they are designed with an emphasis on scientific rigor and, at the same time, seek to arouse the interest of the target audience. The materials are licensed as Open Educational Resources and can be used individually, but together they constitute an organic whole in several MCP themes. Setting and Participants: Master's students in Science Teaching and initial and continuing training Physics teachers, from a Public University. Data collection and analysis: To assess the impact, an analysis was made of the number of accesses and placements (ranking), using Internet search tools as well as application in the classroom. Results: the number of accesses on the web and perceptions in the classroom point to the sharing of meanings predicted by Gowin. Conclusions: Results place this research as a concrete possibility to combine scientific training, research in teaching and commitment to the school.

AbstractInformation and communication technologies (ICT) have become the key drivers for socioeconomic development in recent years. This paper provides an empirical examination on the impact of ICT on Malaysian economic growth over the period 1975-2002 by using secondary data. Real GDP has been used as the dependent variable with three independent variables, namely, investment on ICT, non-ICT investment, and total labor employed in the economy. The unrestricted error correction method (UECM) and the cointegration bounds test revealed that the ICT had contributed positively to Malaysia's economic growth over the study period. The empirical result reflects the benefits gained from the immense ICT-based investment made in the country over the years. Further, several policy recommendations are discussed on how Malaysia can achieve better economic growth by leveraging of ICT.

One of the important fields of application of the modern information and communication technology (ICT) has been the Supply Chain Management (SCM). Despite the fact that ICT is the determining element in SCM automation and rationalization, practical use of ICT in SCM is in its starting rather than progressive phase. The present philosophy of logistics is characterized as coordinated cooperation between companies in supply chains, through which it is possible to achieve higher productivity than in any other way. These cooperation activities represent a typical content of logistical centers, which provide a wide range of services for their clients. This chapter focuses on designing a multi-integral logistical center and analyzing it from the aspect of its effectiveness. Also, other aspects, such as the impact of ICT on the development of virtual logistical centers and the development stages of SCM are presented. Moreover, the chapter outlines pitfalls of this development trend in an effort to provide practitioners in SCM with a more complex view of this issue.

AbstractTranslation is an important means of enabling access to information in an emergency response. Increasingly, volunteer translators have been using social media platforms to self-organize and carry out urgent translation tasks that effectively complement official disaster relief efforts. However, the role of crowdsourced translations and the capacity of volunteer translators in reducing the impact of disasters remain underestimated and therefore understudied. Based on semi-structured interviews with five volunteer translators and online observation of their translation practices, this study investigates the role of a volunteer-driven crowdsourced translation effort in facilitating the donation and procurement of medical supplies between Wuhan and the world. By addressing the real challenges of urgent crisis communication in Wuhan in the early stages of the pandemic, this study draws attention to the need to integrate information and communication technologies with multilingual resources for disaster relief. In addition, it calls for the inclusion of multilingual logistics in national emergency preparation, response and recovery plans.
