Previous research has emphasized both the importance of giving and receiving peer feedback for the purpose of active learning, as well as of university students’ engagement in reflection to improve learning outcomes. However, requiring students to explicitly reflect on peer reviewing is an understudied learning activity in higher education that may contribute to the utilization of peer-feedback and promote further learning. In this study, we suggest reflection on peer reviewing as one approach to providing a platform for students to engage in reflective practices and for stimulating active learning in higher education, and to make that learning visible to the educator. We examine 26 undergraduate students’ reflections on peer-review to identify categories of reflection and what students have learnt from the peer reviewing process. Our findings reveal six different categories of reflection suggesting students’ active engagement in learning and pointing to the ways educators can direct and instruct students how to reflect. We discuss how these findings can inform university lecturers in the use of reflection upon peer reviewing as a pedagogical tool in higher education.

Information Communication Technology-based practices have given rise to flexible work arrangements, such as flextime and telecommuting, which increase the amount of autonomy that employees have in their work. The increase in the use of ICTs and technological improvements enabled the development of telework. The study,x-rayed the effect of telework on the performance of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.Descriptive design was adopted and the sample of 39 respondents was drawn from the target population of 16203. Data were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. The findings revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between home-based telework and supervision of students by university lecturers in Nigeria. Also, a positiverelationship exists between occasional telework and lecture delivery by university lecturers in Nigeria. The study recommended that management of various tertiary institutions should provide their workers with necessary facilities that will aid home-based teleworks, to increase productivity and ensure improved work quality.

The article focuses on a conceptual difference between the institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Bulgarian Universities. University lecturers must be internationally recognizable with their research results and constantly master modern teaching methods and technologies. Scientists in the academy make efforts to follow the scientific tendencies, but have virtually no opportunity to go beyond academic forums and to socialize their scientific results. In the example of research and teaching of Ethnology, the lack of opportunity for young scientists from the academy to be prepared for teaching at different university degrees isconsidered. The positive and negative aspects of the Erasmus academic exchange program (as an opportunity for getting some fractional lecturing experience) is discussed in the terms of teaching experience. We also present the first and only project, held few years ago in Bulgaria, aiming to prepare young scientists from the Academy to teach Ethnology at a university.

This research was designed to investigate which factors influenced the formation of lecturers’ expectations amid online learning during the COVID-19 outbreak in an Indonesian Islamic university. The recent study employed an exploratory case study by observing online EFL writing learning activities, interviewing the three lecturers, and collecting documents. The data was then analyzed qualitatively using an interactive model. Lecturers' expectations in this study were viewed from the key focus of expectation: feedback provided by lecturers. They established class-level expectations, not individual ones as primary and secondary levels. This study elucidates Islamic university lecturers' factors contributing to form expectations: lecturers’ past teaching experiences and teaching self-efficacy. Lecturers have not highly adjusted to any change that emerged in online learning. Accordingly, they have not shown firm belief in grouping students and assuring students’ originality in composing essays. At the same time, the students' demographic factors were motivation and gender. Female students showed higher motivation through participating more often during discussions. It yielded more learning feedback they received. Implications of this study were noted for self-reflection among lecturers to establish high expectations for students to enhance their learning.

This article reports on the results of an open-response survey sent out to IIUM Engineering students to elicit their thoughts and views about learning their courses online via the flipped learning mode. The decision to take academic courses online was brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic which has forced many sectors, including the education sector, to either cease operations or make changes to their approaches. Hence the objective of the survey was to explore Biochemical Engineering students’ perceptions and acceptance of online flipped learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Responses were collected from 80 Year 2, 3 and 4 students of Engineering at the IIUM. The results showed an overwhelming acceptance of online flipped learning among the students where only a small percentage of 2.7% completely rejected it as a preferred online learning mode. A majority of the students expressed a reserved acceptance (64.9%) of it, while 27% accepted it unconditionally. A major concern that emerged from the findings was uncurated and poor selection of videos for students to study before class meetings. This suggests that the flipped classroom approach can result in ineffective online learning if it is not designed carefully. The findings have significant implications on the technological skills and pedagogical readiness of university lecturers to design and deliver online flipped learning in an effective manner.

The COVID-19 pandemic created challenges for education systems. Many university lecturers did not have enough training to teach in an electronic environment, for others there was no such experience at all. This paper discusses the evaluation of a course “E-learning. Moodle." designed to prepare faculty to teach online and users' satisfaction with the training. The influence of demographic and professional factors was analysed. Results indicate that confidence in computer skills and pedagogical qualification are strong predictors of the success of such training. Micro-learning with short video clips is most suitable.

It is possible to learn more quickly and effectively with e-learning software development because it provides learners with convenient and flexible learning environments. This allows them to progress further in their careers. Reports on web-based e-learning systems for inservice education have frequently neglected to include the viewpoint of the instructor. In order to conduct quantitative research, a sample of 50 academic staff members was selected. The purpose of this study was to investigate various factors that influence the intention to use webbased e-learning, with the theoretical foundation being provided by university lecturers. According to the findings of the study, the intention to use web-based e-learning for in-service training is positively correlated with the motivation to use the Internet and the belief in one's own ability to use the Internet. In terms of intentions to use web-based e-learning in-service training, a statistically significant increase in computer anxiety had an impact. University lecturers embraced Web-based e-learning systems because they believed they would be beneficial and because they were eager to put them to use
