The purposes of the study were to determine the extent of use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by the farmers in receiving agricultural information in Homnaupazilla under comilla district and to explore the contribution of selected characteristics of respondents with their ICTs use in receiving agricultural information. The study was conducted in two villages namely Rampur & Madhabpur of Ghagutia union in Homnaupazilla of comilla district. Data were collected from 110 farmers by using a pre-tested interview schedule during the period from 15 January to 15 March, 2015. Appropriate scales were developed to measure the variables of the study. Descriptive statistics, multiple regression (B) tests were used for analysis. The findings revealed that highest proportion (64.5%) of the respondents’ had medium use of ICTs in receiving agricultural information compared to 13.6 % and 21.8 % having low and high use of ICTs in receiving agricultural information respectively. Education, farm size, annual family income, problem confronted in ICTs use and cosmopoliteness had significant contribution to use of ICTs and provided 51.5 percent contribution to use of ICTs in receiving agricultural information. Findings helps to conclude that educated farmer having large farm size, high annual family income and cosmopoliteness who confronts less problems use more ICTs in their farming practices. All farmers should be encouraged to use ICTs therefore, the Department of Agricultural Extension should focus on personal characteristics of the farmer when motivate them to use more ICTs for getting agricultural information’s for better farming outcome.Res. Abstract Although many researchers agree that environmental and personal characteristics are important for becoming an entrepreneur, it is still not clear if their influence is equally significant. Numerous authors have pointed out unresolved matters regarding the relationship among innovativeness, gender, and entrepreneurial intensions. The aim of this paper is to explore the impact of gender and country of origin in relation to entrepreneurial intentions and innovative cognitive style. Research was conducted using a sample of students majoring in information and communication technologies from Croatia and Slovenia. The results revealed the influence of gender, country, attitudes toward entrepreneurship, and innovative cognitive style on entrepreneurial intentions.

. Introduction. The paper considers the efficiency of significant technical and tactical elements of the game (catching and passing the ball) in a competitive environment. The purpose of the study is to examine the performance of catching and passing by qualified handball teams using the HandballTraning computer program. Review of the literature. The coaches do not sufficiently focus on catching and passing techniques during training and competition. As a result, there are few scientific and methodological publications related to these elements. The paper reviews scientific publications by V.Ya. Ignatieva, V.V. Ampleeva, O.V. Romenskaya, I.Yu. Bliznova, Nguen Khyu Chung, and M.V. Zhiiyar. Material and methods. The study involved analyzing the games of the Belarusian Handball Championship among the women’s Top League teams. Seven teams participating in the Championship were analyzed, and 28 games were considered. The results of the study. Analysis of the games has indicated that the teams at the bottom of the championship table make a large number of errors in the considered game elements. It is also worth noting that more mistakes are made during important and crucial games, which determine the team tournament standings. Besides, outside and half-right and left players showed a low level of catching and passing the ball. Conclusion. The technique of catching and passing the ball makes a significant contribution to the victory of the team. This technique should be given more attention during the training of teams of different ages and levels of skills. Moreover, the level of general, special, and technical training of a player affects the performance and efficiency of catching and passing the ball, which is also worth paying attention to in the training process. Keywords: handball, technique, tactics, catching and passing the ball, information, and communication technologies.

The development of Information and Communication Technologies has favored access to technological resources in adolescents. These tools provide access to information that can promote learning. However, they can also have a negative effect against people, as they can be used with other functionality, in which cyberbullying situations are caused during the interactions that arise when using social networks. The objective of this study was to determine the predictive value of the role of cyberbullying victims based on variables related to other roles involved in cyberbullying and bullying (aggressors and witnesses), as well as personal characteristics (sex and age), contextual characteristics (type of educational school in which they are attending) and positive teamwork habits. (cooperation, responsibility, dialogue, listening, respect). Information was collected from 227 students of the educational stages of Primary Education and Secondary Education, aged between 11 and 15 years, in a city with a high index of cultural diversity. The step-by-step technique was used to build the regression model. The results indicate that the model has a good goodness of fit coefficient (adjusted R2: 0.574; p < 0.001). The role of cyberbully is the most important predictive variable of the role of the victim in cyberbullying and, to a lesser extent, the role of the witness in cyberbullying, the role of the witness in bullying, and the role of the victim of bullying. The role of the bullying aggressor and the variables sex, age, type of educational center, and teamwork habits are excluded in the predictive model.

Research with children and adolescents shows that teachers are one of the agents from whom they receive mediation of their media use. However, little is known about teachers’ mediation practice. This study aims to approximate teachers’ practice with the concept of mediation by, firstly, systematizing a set of curricular media-related competences into the goals of maximizing opportunities and minimizing risks in youngsters’ media behavior. Then, teachers’ professional and personal characteristics are tested for associations with the mediation of risks and opportunities of students’ media use. Data collected in a survey with 315 teachers in Germany were analyzed. Results of regression analysis show that most factors predicted both opportunities and risks in a similar way. Teachers are more engaged in maximizing opportunities and minimizing risks when they use information and communication technologies (ICT) more frequently, consider the respective competences important, engage in collaboration with colleagues, do not teach STEM subjects, and do not work in a Gymnasium. Having received ICT-related training was a significant predictor only of mediation of opportunities, while age was a significant predictor only of mediation of risks. Implications of the findings and how the concept of mediation can contribute to the development of teachers as media educators are discussed.

Destes, 42 participaram do estudo. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine factors that shape the adoption of mobile phones for vegetable marketing by Vietnamese smallholders. Design/methodology/approach A structured questionnaire was given to 185 smallholders randomly chosen from 345 vegetable smallholders in the Vinh Thanh district of Vietnam. Descriptive statistics, inferential statistics and a binary logistic regression were applied to analyse the data. Findings The research results show that the smallholders’ adoption of mobile phones for vegetable marketing is significantly affected by their number of extension contacts, distance from smallholders’ homes to local markets, community-based organisation participation, gender, training/credit programme participation, age, education level, income and farm size (χ2 = 143,111, p < 0.000). Practical implications A combination of factors related to socio-economic, situational and institutional characteristics of smallholders should be considered when promoting smallholders’ uptake of mobile phones for vegetable marketing in developing nations. Originality/value This research provides useful insights into the determinants of mobile phone adoption for vegetable marketing by smallholders and highlights areas that need to be considered when designing policies to improve the uptake of information and communication technologies in developing countries.

We examined the factors related to predicting cyberbullying behavior in adolescents, specifically demographics and the use of information and communication technologies. The study participants were 417 adolescents attending high school in Kırşehir, Turkey. We used an individual information form and a cyberbullying scale to collect information and found that 149 (35.7%) of the adolescents had cyberbullied others at least once. Hierarchical regression analysis showed in Step 1 that age, gender, grade, father's age, and family income were significant factors predictive of cyberbullying, and in Step 2 that owning a computer rather than just having access to one in a public library or Internet cafe, parental control of use of the Internet, and previously being bullied on the Internet were significant predictive factors. Based on these findings, we propose that effective strategies for the prevention of cyberbullying are parental supervision of adolescent use of information and communication technologies, education for parents and teachers, and offering information technology communication (media) literacy courses in schools.

Abstract The rapid growth and development of information and communication technologies enabled the transition to a global and dynamic communication model. Among the many communication tools that have emerged, online social networks have proven to be the most popular. Its success has to do with the ability to converge several features into a single space, allowing users to share knowledge and experiences, maintain contact with their peers, as well as communicate freely and spontaneously. However, using these virtual platforms we are, inevitably, creating an online history that can affect our personal and professional lives. Facing a difficult and competitive job market, companies seek to capture the best talents, within their list of job candidates. In this context, companies are starting to screen online profiles to validate candidates’ personal characteristics in a non-professional environment. The main purpose of this study is to understand the importance of the activities in online social networks when applying for a job, especially among recent graduates, who are seeking their first professional experience. Results show that even though recent graduates take caution when using social networking sites, especially Facebook, online exposure is not considered an important factor when undergoing employment processes.

The goal of this chapter is to describe how the POPC environment operates in tandem with personal characteristics to influence people’s exposure to and processing of political information. In describing the political consequences of the POPC phenomenon we take a social-psychological perspective and focus on the individual level (for a more sociological perspective see the chapter by Vromen, Loader, and Xenos, this volume). We sketch the psychological contours of the contemporary “POPC citizen” and outline recent developments in citizens’ use of mobile information and communication technologies (ICTs) for political information, which have consequences for their individual civic competencies as well as democracy at large.
