The objective of this research was to know the improvement of students critical thinking ability in MA Islahul Ummah NW Bunut Baok, academic year 2015/2016 by using PBI based on authentic assessment. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) and it consisted of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data of student’s critical thinking ability was taken by giving student test, it was form of essay test. The results were obtainedseveral findings namely: 1) at first cycle: the mean score of students’ critical thinking abilitywas 54,41 and categorized into low category; 2) at second cycle:the mean score of students’ critical thinking ability was 85,29and categorizedintohigh category. Based on the results of this research can be concluded thatPBI based on authentic assessment can improve students’ critical thinkingability at the X grade students of MA. Islahul Ummah NW Bunut Baok, academic year 2015/2016.

<p>This study is aimed to improve critical thinking ability of the X-1 class of SMA N 3 Surakarta through the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving through Moodle application. This research was a classroom action research that divided into several cycles, each cycle includes four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research was the students of X-1 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta in academic year of 2012/2013. The data was obtained through the test (essay test) and non-test (interviews and documentations). And be analyzed with descriptive analytical techniques then validated by triangulation techniques. The results showed that students critical thinking ability was increased in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. Critical thinking consist of six aspects are interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The improvement in interpretation aspect increased from 42,19% to 66,41%. Analysis aspect increased from 36,72% to 78,13%. Evaluation aspect increased from 33,59% to 78,91%. Inference aspect increased from 40,63% to 64,06%. Explanation aspect increased from 30,47% to 73,44%. Self-regulation aspect increased from 43,75% to 78,91%. The conclusion of this study explained that the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving with moodle could improve critical thinking ability of the X-1 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta.</p><p align="center"> </p><p class="0jTULISANKATAKUNCIKEYWORDS">Key Words: Blended-Problem Solving, Moodle, Critical Thinking</p>

<p>This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Predict Observe Explain Write on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013. This study was a quasi experiment research. Posstet only nonequivalent control group design is used in this research. The population of research was all X grades of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013 consisiting 285 students. Cluster sampling.is used to this research. The result of cluster sampling is choosen for X6 as experimental gruop and X7 as control group. Predict observe explain write model is applied in experimental group and conventional model is applied in control group.  The data was collected by using critical thinking test, observastion sheet, and school documents. The data were analyzed by t-test. The results of this research shows that the mean of student’s capability of critical thinking in experiment class higher than control class, it was 70,41 for experiment class and 61,98 for control class.  The result of hypothesis is analyzed by t-test and it gets significant value 0,000 (sig.&lt;0,05), so the Predict Observe Explain Write model has effect toward student’s capability of critical thinking. This conclution is the application of Predict Observe Explain Write models has real effect toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013.</p><p align="center"> </p><p class="0jTULISANKATAKUNCIKEYWORDS">Key Words: Predict Observe Explain model, Think Talk Write strategy, Critical Thinking Ability</p>

This research was aimed at knowing the effectiveness of using Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review or PQ4R toward Students’ Critical Thinking Ability on Reading Comprehension at Second Grade Students at SMAN 1 Batulayar in Academic Year 2017/2018. This research was an experimental research and the design was quasi-experimental nonequivalent design pre-test post-test design. The sample all of students at Second Grade and the total number was 24 students in which consisted of two classes. Where II-A consisted of 12 students and II-B consisted of 12 students. The class divided into two groups, namely experimental group and Control group. The data was collected by using pre-test and pos-test. The instrument of this research used was reading test inform of multiple choice test. The technique that used to analysis the data was t-test formula. From the data analysis, it found that the result of t-test (1.41) was lower than t-table (1.714). The mean score of experimental group in post-test was (19.16) and the mean score of pre-test was (7.08). Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the used of PQ4R has not effective toward Students’ Critical Thinking Ability on Reading Comprehension at Second Grade Students of SMAN 1 Batu Layar in Academic Year 2018/2019.

<p>This study is aimed to improve creative thinking ability of XI IPA4 class of SMA N 3 Surakarta through the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving through moodle application. This research was a classroom action research held in 3 cycles, each cycle includes four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is the students of XI IPA4 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta in academic year of 2012/2013. The data is obtained through the test (essay test) and non-test (observation, interviews and questionnaires). The data is analyzed with descriptive analytical techniques and validated by triangulation techniques. The results showed that students creative thinking ability is increased in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II and Cycle III. Creative thinking consist of four aspects are fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration. Fluency aspect has increased was 52,5%, flexibility aspect was 54,17%, the originality aspect was 61,66% and elaboration aspect was 55,83%. The research conclouded that the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving through moodle application can improve creative thinking ability of XI IPA4 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta in academic year of 2012/2013.</p><p align="center"> </p><p>Key Words: Blended-Problem Solving, Moodle, Creative Thinking</p>

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran Termokimia melalui penerapan strategi Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) (POGIL) di kelas 11 SMAN 8 Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini menggunakan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design yang diadakan di SMAN 8 Pekanbaru pada tahun akademik 2017/2018. Objek penelitian adalah XI MIA 1 yang terdiri dari 32 siswa. Pengumpulan data siswa menggunakan teknik tes pretest dan posttest. Keberhasilan pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan kriteria berpikir kritis dari hasil pretest dan posttest yang menganalisis persentase skor berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Siswa mengalami peningkatan dari kategori berpikir kritis sangat rendah ke kategori sangat tinggi dengan persentase 15,625%, dari kategori rendah ke kategori sangat tinggi adalah 40,625%, dari kategori rata-rata ke kategori sangat tinggi adalah 9,375%, dari kategori sangat rendah hingga kategori tinggi adalah 12,5%, dan dari kategori rendah ke kategori tinggi adalah 21,875%. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan strategi Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran Termokimia di SMAN 8 Pekanbaru.   The research was held to determine the improvement of student’s critical thinking ability on Thermochemistry subject through implementation of Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) strategy at 11th Grade of SMAN 8 Pekanbaru. This research used One Group Pretest-Posttest Design which held in SMAN 8 Pekanbaru at academic year of 2017/2018. The object of research is XI MIA 1 that consist of 32 students. The data collection of students used test technique which are pretest and posttest. The success of learning in improvement of student’s critical thinking ability is showed by improvement of criteria of critical thinking from pretest and posttest results that analyzed the score percentage of critical thinking. The result of research showed that there was an improvement of student’s critical thinking ability. The students have an increase from the very low category of critical thinking to very high category with percentage of 15,625%, from low category to very high category is 40,625%, from average category to very high category is 9,375%, from very low category to high category is 12,5%, and from low category to high category is 21,875%. Based on data analyze, it can be concluded that implementation of Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) strategy is able to improve student’s critical thinking ability on Thermochemistry subject at SMAN 8 Pekanbaru.

[ANALYSIS OF THE CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY FROM CHEMICAL SUBJECTS IN STUDENTS OF CLASS XI IPA SMAN 1 KEPAHIANG] This research aims to know the critical thinking ability of students. Type of this research is descriptive research using quantitative methods. This research was carried out in SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang on September 2 to 8 may in 2017. The population in this research is the entire class XI IPA are registered on the even-numbered school year 2016/2017 semester. As the samples are taken at class XI IPA 6 of 32 participants.  Data collection is done with the test in the form of reserved descriptions as much as 10 round the whole includes indicators of critical thinking from the taxonomy of Bloom that is level (C2) understand (C3), apply (C4), analyzing and evaluating (C5). Test results obtained from the analysis of results the percentage of students with the ability to answer a question of thinking very critically at 15,6%, quite critical at 53,2 %, and less critical at 31,2 %, with an average value of 61.81. From the average of the values obtained showed that students who have average value included in the category of being. Based on the analysis of the data collected can be inferred levels of critical thinking ability of the students in class XI IPA 6 SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang at school 2016/2017 academic year can be grouped in a category group are of 53,2 %, middle , 15,6 %  at high group and 31,2 % at low groups. From the results, it can be concluded that overall students in grades at  XI IPA 6 SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang even 2016/2017 academic year with the ability to enough think critically.

This research aimed at knowing the effect of implementing peer instruction integrated guided inquiry model on reaction rate lesson toward student critical thinking ability.  it was conducted at the first semester in the academic year of 2018/2019, and it was on reaction rate lesson at the eleventh-grade students of natural science 1 and 2 of state senior high school 2 tapung, kampar regency.  it was a quasi-experiment with pretest-posttest group experimental design.  51 students were the samples, and purposive sampling technique was used in this research.  instruments were essay test in the form of pretest and posttest and observation sheet.  the obtained data showed that there was a significant effect of peer instruction integrated guided inquiry model on reaction rate lesson toward student critical thinking ability, about 8,4%. Keywords: guided inquiry, peer instruction, critical thinking ability, reaction rate.ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing integrasi peer instruction pada materi laju reaksi terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada 2 kelas yaitu XI MIA 1 dan XI MIA 2 SMA Negeri 2 Tapung Kabupaten Kampar tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan design pretes-postes. Sampel sebanyak 51 orang siswa dengan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes essay dan lembar observasi. Data yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing integrasi peer instruction pada materi laju reaksi terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebesar 8,4%.Kata kunci: inquiri terbimbing, berpikir kritis, laju reaksi

<p>Critical thinking in education has been widely practiced following the awareness that it helps a lot the students specifically in science subjects. In accordance with critical thinking ability in science, students who show ability on critical thinking will successfully cope with problems they encounter. Such ability hopefully works in their learning achievement. The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of creative and critical thinking on the achievement of the students of the Department of Primary Education IKIP PGRI Madiun in the class of Science Concepts II. The current study makes use of the descriptive correlational. As many as 191students enrolled the class of science concepts II in the academic year 2012/2013, out of 366 populations, serve as the sample through the proportional random sampling technique. Tests were administered to collect the data analyzed by applying descriptive analysis of double regression to assess the hypothesis in which SPSS PASW Statistics 18 was applied. Results show that there is significant correlation on the variables of creative and critical thinking on their achievement. The creative thinking contributes 20.13% while the critical thinking contribution is 21.53%. AbstractThis study aims at determining the effort ti improve students’ mathematical eritical thinking ability through an Open-Ended Approach in algebraic material at class VII-1 of MTs.PP Daarul Hikmah Sei Alim Hassak in the academic year of 2018/2019. The subject in this study was class VII-1 MTs.PP Daarul Hikmah Sei Alim Hassak, amounting to 40 people. The object of this research was the students’ mathematical critical thinking ability in algebraic material at class VII-1 of MTs.PP Daarul Hikmah Sei Alim Hassak in the academic year of 2018/2019. This type of research was PTK. Data needed in this study was obtained from test and observation. The test used was a description test the was given to sstudents after learning through the Open-Ended Approach. Before the test was carried out, the questions were first tested outside the sample to determine the validity and reliability. Data analysis used in this study were: level of students’ mastery on subject matter and observation result.
