The research aims analyze the meanings of work for military police officers and the meanings’ associations with the concepts of masculinity. Based on quantitative research, three hundred Brazilian military police responded to a structured questionnaire classified on a five-point Likert scale. Data was collected in person and online using Qualtrics software, then tabulated and organized using JASP v software. 0.14.1. The results shows that military police officers perceive recognition of their work, based on autonomy. Moreover, they see their work as strongly related to moral rectitude and social utility. They associate the meanings of their work with issues of dignity and respect for human rights and the feeling of generating positive impacts and results for society. However, this also results in a homogenization of the individual within the organization: they cannot show emotions, must be heterosexual, withstand provocations, be conservative in terms of the values of the institution and the profession.

AbstractIncitement by police officers is a well-known and often utilized police measure in the German investigation process. Yet, when it comes to prosecuting the perpetrators, a moral conflict arises. Should a State, bound by its own constitution and committed to protect its citizens, be allowed to incite or support a possible offender and afterwards judge on his or her wrongful actions? After Germany’s higher courts had to deal with multiple cases of entrapped perpetrators, there has been a strong debate about the admissibility, requirements, and consequences of entrapment within the German legal system. International and national courts as well as scholars represent different legal standpoints in this regard. In particular, the approaches of the European Court of Human Rights and the German Federal Court of Justice differ significantly in their results. As Germany ratified the European Convention on Human Rights and therefore has to adhere to the European Court of Human Rights’ ruling, an additional legal conflict arises. This article depicts and discusses the most relevant approaches to resolve this moral and legal conflict and satisfy both the need for effective prosecution and the procedural rights of the individual person subject to the act of entrapment. Additionally, recent legislative ambitions are presented.

Abstrak               Performa kerja anggota Kepolisian menentukan baik dan buruknya kualitas pelayanan terhadap masyarakat. Dalam menjalankan tugas, anggota kepolisian perlu mengelola stres kerja sehingga dapat mencapai performa kerja yang diinginkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan stres kerja dengan performa kerja yang dimoderasi oleh motivasi berprestasi. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif korelasional. Penentuan subjek menggunakan accidental sampling. Subjek penelitian ini adalah anggota Polres Blitar yang berjumlah 341 orang dengan sampel 150 orang. Skala yang digunakan untuk mengukur stres adalah New Job Stress Scale, skala untuk mengukur performa kerja Individual Work Performance Questionare, dan dalam mengukur motivasi berprestasi menggunakan Teori Mcclelland dengan skala motivasi berprestasi. Analisa data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis Hayes. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara stres kerja dengan performa kerja. Dari hasil analisis pada ketiga variabel diambil keputusan β = 0.616 dengan p = 0.00, menunjukkan motivasi berprestasi memoderasi hubungan stres kerja  dengan performa kerja.   Kata kunci: stres kerja, performa kerja, motivasi berprestasi   Abstract   The work performance of members of the Police determines the good and bad quality of service to the community. In carrying out their duties, police officers need to manage work stress so that they can achieve the desired work performance. This study aims to analyze the relationship between work stress and work performance which is moderated by achievement motivation. The design of this research is correlational quantitative research. Determination of the subject using accidental sampling. The subjects of this study were 341 Blitar police officers with a sample of 150 people. The scale used to measure stress is the New Job Stress Scale, a scale to measure the work performance of the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire, and in measuring achievement motivation using the Mcclelland Theory with achievement motivation scale. Analysis of the data used in this study is Hayes analysis. Based on the results of the analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between work stress and work performance. From the results of the analysis of the three variables, the decision β = 0.616 with p = 0.00 was made, achievement motivation moderates the relationship between work stress and work performance.   Keywords: job stress, work performance, achievement motivation

This paper aimed to identify the role of the Palestinian police in protecting the rights of victims by informing the victims of their rights, and determining the victim's right to protection by the judicial police. The researchers used the descriptive and analytical approach based on legal texts related to the protection of the rights of crime victims. This research paper concluded with a set of results and the important results are protection the human rights is the only way to make the human responsive about his community, and the balance between the individual rights and freedoms, the country right, community interest and it’s security and stability is vital necessity. The evidence of Palestinian police Confirmed the rights of victims in protection, and their right of recognizing their roles and the procedures that must be followed in their issues. At the end the two researchers recommended that police officers, especially judicial officers and the General Investigation Department, should receive adequate training to make them aware of how to deal with victims of crime. And how to define the victim's needs, know the principles of providing appropriate and immediate aid, establish rules for listening to the victim's complaint, deal with it and help her, and the need to notify the victim of interest in his case, and to inform him that his presence at the police headquarters will bring him justice and fairness.

Art. 24 of the 1948 Declaration of Human Rights recognises and protects the right of the individual to rest and leisure. This right has to be fully exercised without negative consequences on the right to work and the remuneration. Tourism can be considered one of the best ways of rest and leisure because it allows to enrich the personality of the individual. Even after the reform of the Title V this area is no longer covered by the Italian Constitution, the Italian legal system protects and guarantees it as a real right, so as to get to recognize its existence and the consequent compensation of the so-called “ruined holiday damage”. This kind of damage has not a patrimonial nature, but a moral one, and the Tourist-Traveler can claim for it when he has not been able to fully enjoy his holiday - the essential fulcrum of tourism - intended as an opportunity for leisure and/or rest, essential rights of the individual.

Against the background of the trend of Islamizing human rights on the one hand, as well as increasing skepticism about the compatibility of Islam and human rights on the other, I intend to analyze the potential of Islamic ethics to meet the requirements for vitalizing the idea of human rights. I will argue that the compatibility of Islam and human rights cannot be determined merely on the basis of comparing the specific content of the Islamic moral code(s) with the rights stipulated in the International Bill of Rights, but by scanning (different conceptions of) Islamic ethics for the two indispensable formal prerequisites of any human rights conception: the principle of universalism (i.e., normative equality) and individualism (i.e., the individual enjoyment of rights). In contrast to many contemporary (political) attempts to reconcile Islam and human rights due to urgent (global) societal needs, this contribution is solely committed to philosophical reasoning. Its guiding questions are “What are the conditions for deriving both universalism and individualism from Islamic ethics?” and “What axiological axioms have to be faded out or reorganized hierarchically in return?”

The relevance of the study of individual psychological characteristics of employees of criminal investigation departments in transport in the North-Western Federal district of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (hereinafter referred to as the NWFD) in relation to indicators of professional deformation is due to the specific features of their official activities. Despite a significant amount of research on the phenomenon of professional deformity of police officers, there are few thoroughly developed and completed works on the prevention of professional deformities of police officers. The purpose of our research was to study the individual psychological characteristics of employees of criminal investigation departments in connection with the risk of professional deformation. The results of the empirical study were processed by correlation and factor analysis (49 parameters). The results of the initial analysis showed that the overall assessment of job satisfaction among employees of the studied departments is average with a downward trend. The results of the study on «professional burnout» revealed that a number of employees surveyed are close to emotional exhaustion. It is established that empathic abilities, social intelligence, and constructive coping strategies play an important role in the structure of individual psychological characteristics of police officers. Low ability of employees to learn behavior determines non-constructive strategies and models for coping with stressful situations, which leads to deformation of relationships with other people, i.e. to professional deformation. The obtained data can be used as the basis for the program of psychoprophylaxis of professional deformation of criminal investigation units in transport in the northwestern Federal district.

This chapter evaluates the role played by NGOs before the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Human Rights Committee. Even if NGO participation was not originally foreseen in the Covenants, clear proceedings have subsequently been established to ensure their involvement in the Committees’ work. This chapter’s main focus is on the reporting procedure: it assesses how NGOs can submit written and oral information to strengthen this process. It also briefly addresses the NGO role in other areas of the Committees’ work, in particular the drafting of General Comments and the individual communications mechanisms. However, NGO participation is not limited to the work carried out in Geneva, and the chapter highlights recent NGO initiatives to ensure proper national implementation of the Committees’ recommendations. Such engagement is also possible in the context of the follow-up procedures, albeit to different extents depending on the practices of the respective Committee.

AbstractComputer and Information Security (CIS) is usually approached adopting a technology-centric viewpoint, where the human components of sociotechnical systems are generally considered as their weakest part, with little consideration for the end users’ cognitive characteristics, needs and motivations. This paper presents a holistic/Human Factors (HF) approach, where the individual, organisational and technological factors are investigated in pilot healthcare organisations to show how HF vulnerabilities may impact on cybersecurity risks. An overview of current challenges in relation to cybersecurity is first provided, followed by the presentation of an integrated top–down and bottom–up methodology using qualitative and quantitative research methods to assess the level of maturity of the pilot organisations with respect to their capability to face and tackle cyber threats and attacks. This approach adopts a user-centred perspective, involving both the organisations’ management and employees, The results show that a better cyber-security culture does not always correspond with more rule compliant behaviour. In addition, conflicts among cybersecurity rules and procedures may trigger human vulnerabilities. In conclusion, the integration of traditional technical solutions with guidelines to enhance CIS systems by leveraging HF in cybersecurity may lead to the adoption of non-technical countermeasures (such as user awareness) for a comprehensive and holistic way to manage cyber security in organisations.

AbstractThis paper addresses the issue of measuring tolerance, viewed as a multifaceted phenomenon involving several different social domains. We develop a multidimensional index for Likert-scale data, characterized by the following features: (i) it reflects the individual’s intensity of tolerant attitudes towards each social domain; (ii) the index can be broken down by dimension in order to determine the contribution of each dimension to overall tolerance; (iii) the index combines the different dimensions of tolerance using a weighted scheme that reflects the importance of each dimension in determining the overall level of tolerance. To show how this new measure of tolerance works in practice, we carry out a case study using an Italian recent survey asking the opinion of university students about different subjects, such as interreligious dialog, women/religion relationship, religion/death relationship, homosexuality, and multicultural society.

Abstract A camp may be described as a temporary space in which individuals receive humanitarian relief and protection until a durable solution can be found to their situation. The camp environment is often riddled with contradictions—the camp can be a place of refuge while at the same time, a place of overcrowding, exclusion and suffering. This article asks to what extent removal of an individual from state A to state B, where he or she will have to live in a camp, is a breach of state A’s human rights law obligations. It argues that even if encampment in state B will expose the individual to terrible conditions, it is unlikely that they will be able to successfully challenge a removal decision before international human rights courts and/or treaty monitoring bodies.
