This research is aimed to find out whether the aplication of blended learning has significant effect on the students' achievement of Understanding English Structure subject or not, and to know if the students' achievement after the application of blended learning is better than the prior knowledge of the subject.  It was also to see if the application of blended learning give positive effect to the students' digital literacy.   Hence, the researcher employs experimental research by giving hybrid-learning model as the treatment.  It is expected that the students can achieved good score about English structure. The research involves the second semester students of English Language Education Study Program of FKIP Pakuan University. They were chosen through purposive sampling technique. Based on the result of data analysis by using ANOVA, the students' achievement in strcture class was improved. Based on the t-test results it is known that the average pre-test is 63.4 and after treatment in the form of learning using a hybrid / blended learning model, the average post-test value becomes 86 so that the increase is 22.6. So that it can be stated there is a significant increase in student learning outcome scores by using hybrid / blended learning models. The positive result was also gained from the digital literacy questionnaire.  Most of the students' digital literacy was improved significantly at about 10 to 20%.  Therefore, it can be stated that hybrid-learning model can improve students' achievement in grammar class and also can improve their digital literacy.

This research was carried out in the fourth semester students of English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Cokroaminoto Palopo University. The method used was quasi-experimental research with pre-test, ten meetings of treatment, and post-test. The sample was selected through purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through speaking test, questionnaire, and recorder instruments, and were analyzed with nonparametric test and frequency test. The result of Mann-Whitney U test and the students’ score on post-test was p < 0.05. It means that, there is a significant difference between the students taught with Think-Pair-Share strategy and without Think-Pair-Share strategy. The mean score of experimental group on pretest was 2.16, and increased to be 4.02 on posttest. The analysis of questionnaire indicated that the students’ perceptions on the application of Think-Pair-Share strategy were very positive. The results of the pre-test and post-test comparison show an improvement in students' skills and motivation. This proves that the use of e-6tslearning can improve students' reading and writing skills. The results of the questionnaire analysis of student satisfaction on the use of e-6tslearning shows that learning by using e-6tslearning, students can improve their reading and writing skills and digital literacy. They can learn with fun with and without lecturer’s assistance.

Emphasis on English language proficiency and digital literacy among Malaysian students in schools have been given utmost priority in the Malaysian Education Transformation (2013 – 2025). With the introduction of Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), (Council of Europe, 2001) the emphasize for low proficient students to acquire vocabulary knowledge is crucial for them to move progressively into the next band as stated in the CEFR global scales. Yet, concerns arises as how the implementation of (CEFR) will impact the low proficient students with almost none to limited vocabulary acquisition. This poses an extremely high risk of these students being left far behind as English is a second language to most students. Thus, the aim of this study is to use blended learning to expand the vocabulary acquisition among low proficient students and enable them to move progressively in the CEFR band. The mixed method study employed questionnaires, face to face interviews, pre and post test and observations to collect data from 20 low proficient students aged 14 from a semi urban secondary school. Data collected were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The study found that using blended learning not only enhances low proficient students vocabulary count in CEFR English but it also promotes autonomous learning and understanding of sentence structures. Hence, the use of blended learning proves to be a crucial alternative for low proficient students to enhance their vocabulary knowledge and understanding of sentence structures through digital literacy that is capable of motivating and challenging them to achieve their highest potential.

The aims of this research is to find out whether or not there is a significant relationship between students’ motivation and their listening achievement. Quantitative method was applied in this research with correlation design. The population of the study was the second semester students of English Language Education Study Program of Khairun University academic year 2016/2017. The sample of this research consisted of 30 students and they were selected by using convenience sampling technique. The data were collected through questionnaire and listening scores. The result of this research shows that r is -0.28. This relationship is small (low) because r value is between 0.10 and 0.29. The result could be classified that the relationship between the two variables is not significant because the r is small (low). It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) stating that there is a significant relationship between students’ motivation and their listening achievement is rejected and null hypothesis (Ho) stating that there is no significant relationship between students’ motivation and their listening achievement is accepted. This suggests that students with high motivation do not guarantee high achievement in learning listening comprehension.Keyword : Relationship, motivation, listening achievement

Abstract The purposes of the study were to explain the effects of implicit instruction on student’s sociopragmatic competences, implicit instructions on students’ pragmalinguistic competences, explicit instructions on students’ sociopragmatic competences, explicit instructions on students’ pragmalinguistic competences, the differences between implicit and explicit instructions on students’ sociopragmatic competences, the differences between implicit and explicit instructions on student’s pragmalinguistic competences, and the interaction between instructions with the students’ sociopragmatic and pragmalinguistic competences. The study used a quantitative research by using experimental factorial design 2x2. The data were taken from 80 second semester students at English Language Education Study Program at STAIN. The result of the study revealed that the mean score of post-test in implicit instruction on students’ sociopragmatic was 80.000 while explicit 92.550. Meanwhile, the mean score of post-test in implicit instruction on students’ pragmalinguistic was 83.000 while explicit 95.5000. It could be concluded that explicit has better effect to teach refusal strategies than implicit instruction on students’ sociopragmatic and pragmalinguistic competence based on the difference between the means score on implicit and explicit.
