Results of the assessment of the epizootic situation on bovine leucose in Laksky district of the Republic of Dagestan for 2013-2019 are presented in the article. Authors established that the disease was recorded throughout the study period in various settlements and farms of the region. During monitoring studies in the municipal district, where the real work was carried out in 20052008, the level of infection of animals, on average, was 23,64%, the incidence rate - 2,88%. In 2013-2017 BLV infection was recorded almost every year in 35,29% of households. At the same time, the level of infection of animals annually ranged from 1,68 in 2013 to 6,74% in 2014, with a tendency to decrease to 2,68% in 2015, 1,92-2,53% in 2016-2017, making up, on average, 3,11±0.93% of the number examined for the analyzed five years. With the implementation of the republican target program in the region, cattle serological coverage increased from 4,04% in 2013-2017 to 84,27% in 2018-2019. At the same time, the incidence of new cases of seropositive animals decreased from 3,11 to 1,87%, respectively. In particular, the number of farms that were safe on BLV infection has increased, on average, from 8,8 to 60. In 2019 out of 92 agricultural enterprises, peasant farms, personal subsidiary farms, and individual entrepreneurial farms, 76 (82,61%) were prosperous on leukemia. In 16 (17,39%) households the infection of animals with leukemia virus was from 0,28 to 39,33%. Authors recommended timely removal of not only seropositive animals from the herd, but also regular serological examination of the herd to identify animals in direct contact with previously isolated virus carriers in bovine leukemia dysfunctional farms, which is the basis for recovery and control of epizootic well-being for leukemia.

This is an interview-based study of 102 families and their observations of the last weeks and days of a dying family member. Forty-one families reported hearing about “visions,” “hallucinations,” or “dreams” from their dying loved one before their death. Of these 41 mixed cases, 37 cases demonstrated classic features of deathbed visions—reports of seeing dead relatives or friends communicating to the dying person. This article reports a content analysis of these 37 cases in order to identify the major psychosocial themes that seem to be conveyed by these kinds of experiences. Six major themes are identified. These themes are: support, comfort, companionship, reunion, prognosis, and choice and control. Implications of these themes are discussed in relation to their role in providing significant support for the psychological morale and social well being of dying people.

The aim of the research is to use the early diagnosis of cattle leukemia virus-infected animals using serological and molecular genetic methods, as well as to determine the significance of PCR in detecting BLV infected calves. The studies were carried out in the leukemia laboratory of the department for monitoring and forecasting of infectious diseases of the Ural Federal Agrarian Research Center, at the department of infectious and invasive pathology of the Belgorod State Agrarian University named after V.Ya. Gorin, as well as in 20 livestock agricultural enterprises of the Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Belgorod regions and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The studies were carried out in the framework of the 160th direction of the FNI Program of State Academies of Sciences for 20132020 on the topic «Development of theoretical foundations for the creation and implementation of a monitoring, diagnostic, treatment and wellness program for the protection of animals from epizootically significant infectious diseases» The system of anti-leukemic health measures using complex serological and hematological testing helps to reduce the number of RID+ animals and hematologically sick individuals for a 6-month period by 32.0% and 6.28%, respectively. The use of the polymerase chain reaction method contributes to the detection of an additional 18 to 39% of calves from 15 days of age, infected with the virus of bovine leukemia, in dysfunctional leukemia livestock enterprises. In a PCR study of cows, 29% to 54% of individuals infected with BLV can be detected. This indicates the need for consistent use of serological studies and the importance of molecular genetic tests for the detection of BLV infected calves.

Abstract. Scientific novelty. The article presents the materials of long-term work on the use of PCR diagnostics together with serological methods (rid, ELISA) in the study of bovine leukemia virus of various physiological groups, as well as experimental animals (rabbits, small cattle). The aim of the study was to evaluate the PCR method in the diagnosis of bovine leukemia virus. Methods. Biomaterials (blood, colostrum) from cattle for PCR studies were obtained from 20 agricultural organizations of Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan regions and the Republic of Bashkortostan. A total of 1,269 blood samples and 36 colostrum samples were examined by PCR. Laboratory methods (rid, ELISA, PCR) were used in the early diagnosis of leukemia virus in young cattle, as well as in the diagnosis of adult livestock. Results. The results obtained by PCR revealed carriers of the Lekota virus in calves aged 15 days to 1 month among young animals, which significantly reduced the duration of recreational activities (an average of 20 %). It was established that serological examination of newborn calves for the presence of antibodies to leukemia virus can give false results due to the influence of high concentrations of maternal antibodies and the development of immunological tolerance. PCR studies of biomaterial (samples 1023), taken from adult cattle (cows 3–4, 6 years), showed that 52 % of the samples were present leukemia virus, which was confirmed by serological studies. It is proved that up to 20 % of virus carriers from the number of rid-negative animals are detected during ELISA and PCR. Some types of BLV leukemia can not be detected by serological studies, but easily cope with PCR. The article deals with various types of PCR used in the diagnosis of leukemia, describes the data obtained from experiments on artificially infected animals with leukemia virus.

In France, little data are available on mental health and well-being in academia, and nothing has been published about PhD students. From studies abroad, we know that doing a PhD is a difficult experience resulting in high attrition rates with significant financial and human costs. Here we focused on PhD students in biology at university Lyon 1. A first study aimed at measuring the mental health and well-being of PhD students using several generalist and PhD-specific tools. Our results on 136 participants showed that a large fraction of the PhD students experience abnormal levels of stress, depression and anxiety, and their mean well-being score is significantly lower than that of a British reference sample. French PhD student well-being is specifically affected by career uncertainty, perceived lack of progress in the PhD and perceived lack of competence, which points towards possible cultural differences of experiencing a PhD in France and the UK. In a second study, we carried out a positive psychology intervention. Comparing the scores of the test and control groups showed a clear effect of the intervention on reducing anxiety. We discuss our results and the possible future steps to improve French PhD students’ well-being.

Integrated neuromuscular training (INT) showed benefits for improving fundamental movement skills (FMS). However, the INT health-related fitness (HRF) effects are lacking. The current study aimed to determine the effects of INT implemented during physical education (PE) in a primary school in the Republic of Serbia on HRF in female children. The sample consisted of 72 healthy girls who were divided into the intervention (EG: n = 37; mean ± SD: age = 8.17 ± 0.31) and control (CG: n = 35; age = 8.11 ± 0.31) groups. The EG and CG performed the INT program and traditional PE activities two times per week within the first ~15 min of PE class, respectively. The Fitnessgram battery tests assessed the HRF (body composition, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular fitness, and flexibility) before and after the program. After eight weeks, the EG significantly reduced all fat measures, while the CG decreased only triceps skinfold but to a smaller extent (F = 5.92, p < 0.02, ŋ2 = 0.09). Both groups significantly improved the performance of almost all muscular fitness tests (curl-ups, trunk lift, push-ups); however, the EG increased the push-ups more than the CG (F = 9.01, p < 0.01, ŋ2 = 0.14). The EG additionally improved the modified pull-ups (F = 14.09, p < 0.01, ŋ2 = 0.19) and flexed arm hang (F = 28.82, p < 0.01, ŋ2 = 0.33) tests. The flexibility and cardiorespiratory endurance of both groups did not significantly change after eight weeks. This approach of exercise showed positive acceptance and relatively good results after only eight weeks.

AbstractProduct-service systems (PSSs) have attracted researchers in engineering design for the past decades. Recent advances in digital technologies have expanded the potential functionalities that PSSs could deliver and designers' repertoire of tools and techniques to make new value propositions. The key to the success of new value propositions is to achieve customer acceptance and continuous use. However, little is known about the precise routes by which customers accept and use PSSs over time and its dynamics. This conceptual study aims to provide an enhanced view of customer acceptance and continuous use of PSSs by integrating multiple theories and literature streams. In this paper, we suggest three propositions based on the key concepts found in our literature review—well-being, trust and control—, and illustrate a conceptual framework that represents the dynamics of customer acceptance and continuous use of PSSs. Based on the proposed framework, we outline further research questions that could advance our knowledge about design for continuous use of PSSs.

IntroductionNavy ships and submarines are important military measures that protect the Republic of Korea. They also comprise naval officers’ workplace. However, few studies have examined naval officers’ working environment and their job-related well-being. This study aimed to explore exposure to hazardous work environments among navy officers aboard ships and submarines and their association with job-related affective well-being.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample comprised 146 officers from 4 navy ships and 98 officers from 5 submarines. Items of exposure to the eight types of hazardous work environments and the Job-related Affective Well-being Scale (JAWS) were included in the self-report survey questionnaires.ResultsThe most common hazards reported by officers aboard navy ships were vibration (63.7%) and air pollution (56.2%). For submarine officers, these hazards were lack of personal space (72.4%) and air pollution (67.3%). The average JAWS score for ship officers and submarine officers was 69.81 (SD=10.89) and 70.50 (SD=10.83), respectively. For ship officers, exposure to air pollution, noise, vibration, thermal discomfort during summer or winter and lack of personal space were significantly correlated with lower JAWS scores. For submarine officers, exposure to fire, burning or electrical shock, air pollution, noise, thermal discomfort during summer or winter and lack of personal space were significantly correlated with lower JAWS scores.ConclusionsThis study revealed that some naval officers aboard ships or submarines are exposed to hazardous work environments. Moreover, certain types of hazardous work environments were associated with naval officers’ job-related affective well-being.
