The northwestern Sichuan Basin has experienced Meso-Cenozoic intracontinental compressional tectonic processes and formed multi-detachment stratigraphic distribution of foreland basins and fold-thrust belts, which have caused complicated structural deformations in the deep buried layers. Rapid uplift with accelerated erosion and two sets of detachments in the Lower Triassic and Lower Cambrian controlled the multilevel deformation structure. We conducted discrete numerical simulations with double weak detachments and erosion under extrusion conditions in order to examine the mechanics and kinematics of the frontalpiedmont zones of the NW Sichuan Basin. The following findings were made. (1) With continuous compression, the weak detachments promoted the decoupled and ladder-like deformation of the thrust belt, where the deformation above the slip layer extended further than it did below it. Rapid uplift and erosion at the thrust front contributed to the formation of a passive roof fault and a monocline in the upper layer, a series of forward and backward thin-skinned thrust-buried structures in the middle layer sandwiched between two weak detachments and stacking structures in the lower layer. (2) Erosion effectively prevents the deformation from propagating above the upper detachment, but can advance a horizontal transition in the deformation style generated within the middle brittle layer: from oblique and tight fault propagation folds to symmetrical, wide, and gentle detachment folds. (3) The model results consistent with tectonic deformation in the NW Sichuan Basin indicate a possible evolutionary mechanism under compression. There is hierarchical deformation of uncoordinated contraction controlled by the Lower Triassic and Early Cambrian weak layers, with the characteristics of the shallow monocline, the middle thin-skinned thrusts, and the deeper basement-involved folds. Continuous compression contributed a sequential pattern of steps as a whole, from the frontalpiedmont zones to the foreland basin, autochthonous stacking thrusts, and the huge buried structure in the NW Sichuan Basin. During the Himalayan period, syntectonic erosion along with the uplifted thrust front maintained the development of a passive-roof duplex and a huge forward buried structure.

Central Interior Alaska is one of the most seismically active regions in North America, exhibiting a high concentration of intraplate earthquakes approximately 700 km away from the southern Alaska subduction zone. Seismological evidence suggests that intraplate seismicity in the region is not uniformly distributed, but concentrated in several discrete seismic zones, including the Nenana basin and the adjacent Tanana basin. Although the location and magnitude of the seismic activity in both basins are well defined by a network of seismic stations in the region, the tectonic controls on these intraplate earthquakes and the heterogeneous nature of Alaska’s continental interior remain poorly understood. We investigated the crustal structure of the Nenana and Tanana basins using available seismic reflection, aeromagnetic and gravity anomaly data, supplemented by geophysical well logs and outcrop data. We developed nine new two-dimensional forward models to delineate internal geometries and the crustal structure of Alaska’s interior. The results of our study demonstrates a strong crustal heterogeneity beneath both basins. The Tanana basin is a relatively shallow (up to 2 km) asymmetrical foreland basin with its southern, deeper side controlled by the northern foothills of the Central Alaska Range. Northeast-trending left lateral strike-slip faults within the Tanana basin are interpreted as a zone of clockwise crustal block rotation. The Nenana basin has a fundamentally different geometry. It is a deep (up to 8 km), narrow transtensional pull-apart basin that is deforming along the left-lateral Minto Fault. This study identifies two distinct modes of current tectonic deformation in Central Interior Alaska and provides a basis for modeling the interplay between intraplate stress fields and major structural features that potentially influence the generation of intraplate earthquakes in the region.

The influence of stratification on the merging of like-sign vortices of equal intensity and shape is investigated by numerical simulations in a quasi-geostrophic, two-layer stratified model. Two different types of vortices are considered: vortices defined as circular patches of uniform potential vorticity in the upper layer but no PV anomaly in the lower layer (referred to as PVI vortices), and vortices defined as circular patches of uniform relative vorticity in the upper layer but no motion in the lower layer (referred to as RVI vortices). In particular, it is found that, in the RVI case, the merging behaviour depends strongly on the magnitude of the stratification (i.e. the ratio of internal Rossby radius and vortex radius). The critical point here appears to be whether or not the initial eddies have a deep flow signature in terms of PV.The specific phenomenon of scale-dependent merging observed is interpreted in terms of the competitive effects of hetonic interaction and vortex shape. In the case of weaker stratification, the baroclinic structure of the eddies can be seen as dominated by a mechanism of hetonic interaction in which bottom flow appears to counteract the tendency of surface eddies to merge. In the case of larger stratification, the eddy interaction mechanism is shown to be barotropically dominated, although interface deformation still determines the actual eddy vorticity profile during the initialization stage. Repulsion (hetonic) effect therefore oppose attraction (barotropic shape) effects in a competitive process dependent on the relationship between the original eddy lengthscale and the first internal Rossby radius.A concluding discussion considers the implications of such analysis for real situations, in the ocean or in the laboratory.

The article presents the results of petrographic analysis of the ceramics of the Chalcolithic settlement of Meshoko. A total of 42 fragments were examined (see appendix), 10 of which belong to the upper part of the monument's sediments (layers 1 and 2a; Fig. 1), 20 refer to the middle part of the sediments (layer 2b; Fig. 2), 12 – to the lower part (layer 3; Fig. 3). Based on the analysis, 5 groups of ceramics were identified (Fig. 4). Group 1 consists of fragments with an admixture of limestone, group 2 – with an admixture of diorite, group 3 – with an admixture of biogenic carbonates and sand, group 4 – with an admixture of calcite, group 5 – with an admixture of diorite and chamotte. Clays of smectite composition predominate in groups 1 and 2, while clays of smectite-carbonate composition predominate in groups 3 and 4. Comparison of these groups with stratigraphy revealed that most of the ceramics of groups 3 and 4 are confined to the lower layer, and groups 1 and 2 to the middle and upper layer (Table 1). In addition, the ceramics of these layers differ in the nature of the external surface treatment. Significant changes in the technology of making ceramics during the transition from the lower layer to the middle layer allow us to assume corresponding changes in the composition of the population.

Abstract - The role of telecommunications technology is very important, especially in changing people's lives. The development of technology in the field of communication and information can now be enjoyed by various layers of society, starting from the upper layer, middle layer or lower layer even though the results are not satisfactory. The research entitled "Decision Support System Determination of the best cellular card operator using the AHP method" aims to provide convenience for consumers who want to buy cellular cards from various telecommunications operators according to their needs and save on bags. (economical). The number of cellular card operators provided by telecommunications makes it difficult for consumers to make the right choice, according to the desired criteria. Determining cellular cards with the AHP method is the right method to overcome the problem of determining the best cellular card with many criteria offered by each operator. These criteria include the purchase price of cellular cards, rates, promos and active periods. Keywords - Cellular card operator, Decision support system, Analitycal Hierarchy Process.

The Marunda Beach is located on the Jakarta Bay and adjacent to the mouth of the Tiram River. Anthropogenic activity around Marunda Beach is very high, so it can contribute the heavy metals such as Pb, Zn and Cr. The heavy metal will accumulate in the sediment and over time will be increase. The purpose of this study was to determine the vertical distribution of Pb, Zn, Cr, and their relationship to total organic carbon (TOC) and the grain size. Sediment samples were taken using polyethylene cores and this sample separated based on their depth (1-3 cm, 4-6 cm, and 7-9 cm). The heavy metals were analyzed using acid destruction and absorbance values were measured using AAS, TOC using the loss of ignition (LOI) and sediment texture with a sifting method, followed by pipetting. The results showed that the average concentration of Pb, Zn, Cr in the upper layer was 5.14; 107.19; 12.79 ppm, in the middle layer of 4.41; 100.20; 12.28 ppm and in the lower layer 4.8; 101.30; 14.10 ppm, respectively. Zn and Cr are strongly positively correlated to TOC and mud, and vice versa, the relationship to Pb is negative. The results of this study found that the vertical distribution of Pb, Zn and Cr was high in the surface layer (1-3 cm) and their presence was determined by TOC concentration and mud fraction.

Introduction. When building residential, public and administrative buildings of various spatial structural designs (monolithic, precast-monolithic, precast, etc.), it is common practice to design self-sustaining (non-structural) outer walls within a storey. Developing and using new design and fabrication solutions of multilayer industrial-made wall panels in modern construction practice makes actual the issue of improving methods of their calculation in different stages of maintenance and under various sorts and combinations of loads and effects. However, there is an infinite variety of possible loading levels in practice and, therefore, the same variety of design approaches would be required. This is obviously unacceptable for engineering calculations, hence it is necessary to provide a monolithic matrix bond of layers, both technologically and structurally, which can provide a generalized approach to the calculation of multilayer enclosing structures in accordance with current design standards. Materials and methods. The article describes structural features of a multilayer wall panel made of structural concrete with the middle layer of concrete with low thermal conductivity and monolithic bond of layers. These features have an influence on creation of a design model and a calculation procedure in the stages of transportation, installation and maintenance. Results. The article has examined the structures described above in the sense of design parameters that provide their competitive advantages in strength and maintenance as compared with conventional mass-built enclosures. Conclusions. The studies demonstrate that when combining loads of force and non-force character, stresses in the considered structure do not exceed allowable values in all the stages what proves the prospects of using the multilayer panels with monolithic bond of layers for erection of various-purpose frame-panel buildings.

The three-layer version of the contour dynamics/surgery method is used to study the interaction mechanisms of a large-scale surface vortex with a smaller vortex/vortices of the middle layer (prototypes of intrathermocline vortices in the ocean) belonging to the middle layer of a three-layer rotating fluid. The lower layer is assumed to be dynamically passive. The piecewise constant vertical density distribution approximates the average long-term profile for the North Atlantic, where intrathermocline eddies are observed most often at depths of 300–1600 m. Numerical experiments were carried out with different initial configurations of vortices, to evaluate several effects. Firstly, the stability of the vortex compound was evaluated. Most often, it remains compact, but when unstable, it can break as vertically coupled vortex dipoles (called hetons). Secondly, we studied the interaction between a vertically tilted cyclone and lenses. Then, the lenses first undergo anticlockwise rotation determined by the surface cyclone. The lenses can induce alignment or coupling with cyclonic vorticity above them. Only very weak lenses are destroyed by the shear stress exerted by the surface cyclone. Thirdly, under the influence of lens dipoles, the surface cyclone can be torn apart. In particular, the shedding of rapidly moving vortex pairs at the surface reflects the presence of lens dipoles below. More slowly moving small eddies can also be torn away from the main surface cyclone. In this case, they do not appear to be coupled with middle layer vortices. They are the result of large shear-induced deformation. Common and differing features of the vortex interaction, modeled in the framework of the theory of point and finite-core vortices, are noted.
