The objective of this research is to study the Scratch programming language as a didactic tool to teach functions. The introduction of didactic tools allowing comprehension in simple and attractive ways is required. Given the traditional teaching/learning system, it is necessary to organize participatory and collaborative dynamic classrooms, which allow the interaction of students in activities where the educator modifies his or her traditional role as an advisor and the students take a more active role in learning through their own effort. In this sense, three activities using the Scratch programming language are proposed: the first one refers to the linear and affine functions, while the second one deals with the quadratic function and the third one is related to the exponential function. The participants in this study were 30 future teachers. The study considers the combination of magisterial lessons and active didactic methodologies as demonstration method, cooperative learning and gamification, also including the applied assessment. The activities, methodologies and assessment were evaluated by the participants with results higher than 4 in 5-point Likert scale for all cases, preferring the active methodologies than magisterial lessons.

Background: The current ongoing coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought a sea change in education teaching learning system, ways and methodologies. Online teaching has been enforced suddenly for students worldwide. It has become a substitute to traditional teaching. Aware of the fact that the Corona pandemic has changed the way of learning teaching, we want to find out what students think about their real predispositions. This study is to compare and evaluate the opinions, preferences, experiences of undergraduate medical students during continuous online classes since the onset of Pandemic times.Methods: A sample size of 115 undergraduate medical students of batch 2019 was taken for the study done in Sardar Patel Medical College of Bikaner, Rajasthan, India in October 2020.A questionnaire was prepared using Google forms application and was filled by students online.Results: Majority of students had a preference and interest for traditional mode of teaching, they agreed on better understanding of concepts and details of topic and grasping more of knowledge through it. But majority of students also agreed that they are getting more time to study now with online teaching.Conclusions: This study gives an in depth insight into the current ongoing online teaching methodologies and throws light on changing acceptance of students to the current COVID-19 pandemic ways of teaching and on welcoming a better “blended learning” pattern in the upcoming Post COVID-19 new normal times.

The failure rates of the medical students had increased during the past few years. There are many supportive factors for deteriorating the students’ performance. One of these might be due to some defect in teaching/learning system. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the effects of changes in teaching/learning schedule pattern in Physiology Subject among 2nd MB BS students from University of Medicine, Magway. A Comparative study was done. Data was collected from 2nd MBBS students studying at University of Medicine, Magway, Myanmar (n = 230). Class test-1 was done before the introducing of the new teaching/learning schedule pattern. There was 3-month intervention of introducing the new teaching/learning schedule pattern. At the end of this program, class test-2 was done. Scores of all students in class test-1 and class test-2 were compared and analyzed. In the present study, the average marks of class test-1 and class test-2 were 38.23±14.56 and 43.32±18.42, respectively. It was found that the average score of the students in class test-2 was higher than that of class test-1(p< 0.001). Both class test-1 and class test-2 included 2 sections which involved multiple choice questions (MCQs) and multiple short questions (MSQs). In MCQs section, 22.17% of the total students were passed in class test-1 whereas it was increased to 33.48% in class test-2 (p< 0.01). In MSQs section, it was indicated that 29.56% of the total students were passed in class test-1 and 39.56% of the students were passed in class test-2 (p< 0.001). In the average score of both MCQs and MSQs, the students passed rate is increased from 26.96% to 36.96% after the changing of teaching/learning style (p< 0.001).This findings suggested that the new teaching/learning style was more effective than the traditional teaching.

ABSTRACT Background The exposure of students to stressful events and the association of these events with students’ mental health is an important matter in Medical Education. To address this arduous training and solve emerging problems, some students develop methods to help them and, among these, resilience. A hybrid learning system, merging active and traditional learning, can be a supplementary source of stress generation , since it demands the acquisition of knowledge by the students, for summative assessments of traditional teaching as well as for the autonomous search for knowledge, skills, and attitudes required in the problematization. Purpose To determine the degree of resilience throughout the medical course under the hybrid teaching-learning system, identifying underlying mechanisms. Methods This was a cross-sectional study developed from August 2017 to August 2018, at Christus University Center, Brazil, a medical school that uses problem-based learning curricula associated with traditional teaching methodology. Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale was applied to medical students from all semesters. Socioeconomic, emotional and self-reported performance variables were also collected. The association between variables was assessed with minimally adjusted logistic regression models. Results 173 medical students participated in this study, with a mean age of 22.4 years, of which 65.3% were females. 88.1% of the medical students showed high or very high resilience. Receiving support from family and friends was associated with better resilience (p values lower than 0.001), as students who were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with family support had a greater tendency to develop better degrees of resilience, with results of “very high resilience trends” (82.50%) and “high resilience trends” (71.10%) surpassing the prevalence identified in dissatisfied students. Also, having a religious belief was also associated with higher resilience degrees (p value = 0.02). Conclusions Factors identified in this study, mainly the importance of the support network from family and friends can be stimulated in order to improve students’ resilience. There was no direct association between the academic performance self-assessment and the students’ resilience and the resilience of medical students tends to remain constant throughout the course.

Communication and media are globally increasing; they require the possibility and ability to consume information, but also to produce knowledge. Any person can create and spread information through technological devices, so that the teaching-learning system runs in any space and moment. This phenomenon is called ubiquity. Currently, portable devices allow access to a world full of information, becoming part of our “clothing”, conceives an access like never before, because when faced with a request for information, there will always be a way to access it. Digital spaces, through interaction with many people, offer us valuable opportunities for distributed creativity and the generation of new knowledge. Thus, users not only present themselves as consumers of information, but also as content producers, acquiring an active role in the construction of knowledge. Ubiquity has also reached the field of medicine, where the medical practice is incorporated through technological means, making an important difference with habituality. Telemedicine makes development possible through collective benefit; however it is still necessary to unlearn some traditional paradigms while generating stimulation for learning and progress of new habits in the scientific community, taking care of the legal and human aspects in the exercise of their practice. Both traditional and new educational environments, the latter enriched with information and communication technologies, coexist in today’s university. The goal of this article is to present the concept of educational environment enriched with information and communication technologies, to reveal the main features of such environment, and to present the results of certain investigation on the application of information technologies in teaching/learning processes at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Kaunas University of Medicine. The discussion object of this paper is the educational environment enriched with information and communication technologies. In designing the environments of this type, positive aspects of traditional teaching models are being developed by integrating them into the new educational environment. The concept of educational environment enriched with information and communication technologies is reviewed in the first part of this paper. The structure and main features of educational environments enriched with information and communication technologies are highlighted in the second part. The results of the study on the application of information technologies in teaching/learning processes at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Kaunas University of Medicine are presented in the third part.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT), being the building blocks of modern society, has fundamentally changed the practices and procedures of nearly all forms of endeavor within academics and governance. The revolutionary change which is taking place in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) has dramatic effects on the way universities carry out their functions of teaching, learning and research, particularly on the creation, dissemination and application of knowledge.  This requires a shift in the delivery and pedagogy used in the current education system. For India to emerge as knowledge super power of the world it is imperative to convert our demographic advantage into knowledge powerhouse by nurturing and honing our working population into knowledge enabled working population. Thus ICT integration is a crying need for capacity building efforts of educational institutions. Research has suggested that using ICT in instruction enables students to take a more active role in their learning rather than their more traditional role of passive observer and listener. With all parameters it acts as a change agent in education and society by promoting a proper balance between content generations and research in critical areas. Therefore it is pertinent to pay attention to the ICT implementation in educational system for imparting easily accessible, affordable and quality higher education.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui penelitian tindakan kelas dengan melibatkan subjek sebanyak 39 orang mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Tenik Elektro Fakultas Teknik Unimed, menyangkut permasalahahan implementasi contextual teaching-learning melalui riset mini dalam perkuliahan metode penelitian pengajaran. Masalahnya adalah apakah implementasi kontekstual teaching learning melalui riset mini dapat meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam membangun proposal penelitian?. Penelitian dilakukan dalam 5 siklus dengan target capaian yaitu 85% mahasiswa mencapai skor ≥ 80. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu ada peningkatan dari siklus ke siklus berikutnya, yaitu pada siklus I ada 12 orang mahasiswa (30,76%) mencapai target; pada siklus II ada 19 orang   mahasiswa (48,71%) mencapai target; Pada siklus III ada 24 orang mahasiswa (61,53%) mencapai target; Pada siklus IV terdapat sejumlah 28 orang mahasiswa (71,79%) yang mencapai target; dan pada siklus V terdapat 34 orang mahasiswa (87,17%) sudah mencapai target. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian disimpulkan bahwa implementasi contextual teaching learning melalui riset mini dapat meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam membangun proposal penelitian.   Kata Kunci: Implementasi kontekstual teaching learning   Abstract: The research was conducted through action research involving subjects as many as 39 students of electrical education department of  technical faculty Unimed, concerning the problems of contextual teaching learning implementation through mini rsearch in education research method course. The formulation of this researh problem is “whether the implementation of contextual teaching learning through mini research can improve students' competencies in building research proposal?. The study was conducted in 5 cycles with a target achievement of 85% of students achieving a score of ≥ 80. The results are an increase of the cycle to the next cycle, the first cycle, there were 12 students (30.76%) targets; in the second cycle there are 19 students (48.71%) targets; In the third cycle there were 24 students (61.53%) targets; in the fourth cycle there are a number of 28 students (71.79%) to reach the target, and the cycle of V contained 34 students (87.17%) has reached the target. Based on the findings of the study concluded that the implementation of contextual teaching learning through mini research can improve the competence of students in developing research proposals.   Keywords: Contextual teaching learning implementation

The present study provides a description of the model of interactive digital pedagogy for remote areas and its impact on pedagogical satisfaction and academic achievement of students. This pedagogical intervention was designed to enrich and supplement the teaching-learning experience in remote and underprivileged schools through the use of technology. An interactive online teaching-learning system was set-up using a digital pedagogy. 150 school students and 80 prospective teachers from three higher secondary schools of Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu participated in the study. Pedagogical satisfaction and academic achievement of the school students who studied in this set-up were examined. The results revealed that active learning, technological competence and learner autonomy were enhanced in an online environment when compared to an offline environment.
