As the application of colored designs on cloth using wax in certain areas in decorating items of clothing, Batik is made through several steps that come from drawing the pattern on the paper followed by imitating the pattern on fabric, which is called ngeblat. The next phase is followed by drawing the pattern using wax, which is called mencanting. The subsequent step is the process of coloring the pattern of Batik, called pencoletan, and then subsequently followed by color-locking on Batik through covering the Batik with wax, namely basic color dyeing. This process is called menembok. The final step is making the panting process through washing, called nglorod. This process should attempt to maintain Batik with cultural sustainability, as its process contains several values, such as discipline, creativity, independence, patriotism, responsibility, cooperation, and environmental care. Based on this background, this paper attempts to examine the Batik’s cultural design and to explore its sustainability through co-curricular school program activities. This study focuses on examining the potential in the process of the application of colored design through elaborating the supporting and interfering factors in a co-curricular learning program of Batik. The analysis was made through several points, namely a co-curricular learning program of Batik for enhancing cultural sustainability, a co-curricular learning program of Batik for enhancing national culture and community responsibility, and co-curricular learning of Batik for sustainability and environmental accountability.

AbstractThe framework of the economic growth study consists in exploring the performance of productive factors, both in quality and quantity, of the interplay of these factors with the domestic product, all influenced by the political, social and international context. In the aim of complementing the formal growth theory with empirical referents and emphasize the importance of considering additional elements in this process, this research focuses on the potential link between the cultural values of a selected group of countries and other production factors, in order to explore whether such informal social capital influences decisively its creation and performance. This work also includes two variables related to equity and environmental care, considered as essential inputs for sustainable competitiveness and growth, as well as the analysis on how these variables are affected by the national culture. Results demonstrate that culture influences all of them through different channels and that even though this relationship is not stable over time or vary according to the degree of competitiveness reached by a country, is consistent across nations and at different stages of economic development.

The full day school program is a new model in the education management system in Indonesia. This phenomenon is interesting because there is a paradox in it. Education in Indonesia is often criticized for the learning which is too heavy, but the full day school program gets a positive response from the community although it has longer school hours. This research aims to answer the questions; 1) How is a full day school praxis program in Indonesia? Second, how is the implementation of humanizing the classroom learning program in schools that implement the full day school program? This research is a qualitative research with locus at Islam Terpadu Salsabila Elementary School (SDIT Salsabila), Yogyakarta. Research subject is determined by purposive sampling. Method of data collections are: 1) participant observation, 2) in-depth interview, 3) questionnaire, and 4) document analysis. Data analysis technique is inductive-qualitative. The results are; First, the full day school program in Indonesia is growing as a result of the increasing number of busy working parents. They do not have the opportunity to accompany their children at home because they are busy working from morning to evening. The full day school program is an educative solution for them. Secondly, humanizing the classroom is implemented through students’ active involvement in the classroom and the learning process is democratic and fun. This approach is a solution so that students do not feel boredom in learning although they spent their time throughout the day at school.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of special education practitioners (i.e., speech-language pathologists, special educators, para-educators, and other related service providers) on their role as communication partners after participation in the Social Communication and Engagement Triad (Buckley et al., 2015 ) yearlong professional learning program. Method A qualitative approach using interviews and purposeful sampling was used. A total of 22 participants who completed participation in either Year 1 or Year 2 of the program were interviewed. Participants were speech-language pathologists, special educators, para-educators, and other related service providers. Using a grounded theory approach (Glaser & Strauss, 1967 ) to data analysis, open, axial, and selective coding procedures were followed. Results Three themes emerged from the data analysis and included engagement as the goal, role as a communication partner, and importance of collaboration. Conclusions Findings supported the notion that educators see the value of an integrative approach to service delivery, supporting students' social communication and engagement across the school day but also recognizing the challenges they face in making this a reality.

Service learning (SL) is a form of experiential learning in which students are involved in community service activities that are related to academic course objectives. A key aspect that separates SL from other forms of experiential learning is the mutually beneficial nature of the service activities. Much of the SL and international SL (ISL) literature has focused on positive learning outcomes for students, with much less focus on the benefits of SL to the community. Speech, Language, and Hearing Services (SLHS) in Zambia is an intensive SL short-term study abroad program. This paper describes the benefits to the community via the SLHS in Zambia program.
