Nursing students perform clinical training in a variety of clinical practice fields, so their rights are important. Efforts are needed to accurately identify and measure the awareness of nursing students’ rights. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of nursing students’ rights awareness scale. The study procedure was carried out in four stages: the concept analysis, item development, scale development, and scale evaluation stage. First, in the concept analysis stage, the attributes of the concept were derived. Second, in the item development stage, preliminary items were derived, and the content validity was verified. Third, in the scale development stage, a preliminary and main survey were conducted, and item reduction was implemented. Fourth, in the scale evaluation stage, construct validity and reliability were verified. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 24.0, and item analysis was conducted using skewness, kurtosis, and item-total correlation scores. The construct validity was assessed by exploratory factor analysis, convergent validity, and divergent validity. The reliability was analyzed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and composite reliability. The final version of the scale was tested on 240 nursing students from three cities in South Korea. From the construct validity, three factors and 14 items were selected. The factors included “the rights to be protected, cared for, supported, and respected” (eight items), “the rights to be recognized as a member of a nursing team” (three items), and “the rights to learn” (three questions). The reliability of the scale was also verified. Through this study, the scale was developed to identify the rights of nursing students in clinical practice. The implication of this study is that it has laid the foundation for measuring the rights of nursing students applicable in clinical settings for the first time. The limitation of this study is that data were collected in some regions. Therefore, it is necessary to verify the validity and reliability of the scale in various cultures.

Introduction: Shieffield Peer Review Assessment (SPRAT) is an instrument to assess medical student’s performance using Multi Source Feedback (MSF) method. The previous study stated that MSF with SPRAT is an effective tool assessing professional behaviour (PB) of nursing students both in clinical setting and community setting. However it needs more items to be added. Based on that explanation, it needs conducting validity and reliability test to make sure that the tool is valid and reliable. Method: There were two types of validity test used, content validity test and construct validity test as well as reliability test, namely inter-rater reliability test and item covariance test. Participants were four clinical instructors and 116 nursing students. Result: Content validity test showed that two items must be added as part of assessment item, namely diciplines and faithness. Furthermore construct validity test showed that five items were not valid since they had pearson correlation score <0.3. However the items were included as consideration of nursing students’s PB. Inter-rater reliability test and item covariance reliability test showed that the tool was reliable with score 0.460 and 0.912 respectively. Discussion: The assessment tool can be applied to assess PB of nursing students since it valid and reliable. It needs to investigate the effectiveness of the tool in difference of PB of nursing students.Keywords: validity, reliability, assessment tool of PB (professional behaviour)

Objective: To develop a valid and reliable questionnaire about knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards Covid-19 (KAPCovQ) in the general community based on psychometric properties. Methods: This study consisted of item development, scale development, and scale evaluation. Item development was based on literature review and content validity by experts. Scale development was conducted by pre-testing ten respondents. Scale evaluation was assessed using 375 respondents. Scale evaluation included construct validity with exploratory factor analysis (EFA) followed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and reliability test with Cronbach’s α, composite reliability, and test-retest reliability. Results: The final KAPCovQ consisted of 3 domains with 31 items. Twelve items of the knowledge domain met the acceptable range for item analysis. Three factors of attitude domain and one factor of practice domain showed that 59.13% and 57.97% of the total variance respectively were identified in EFA. The result of the CFA for both attitude and practices domain indicated acceptable fit indices for the proposed model. The CFA model fit indices of attitude domain were χ2/df 2.05, p-value 0.01, GFI 0.92, RMSEA 0.07, TLI 0.90, CFI 0.92, and PNFI 0.64 and practices domain were χ2/df 1.18, p-value 0.28, GFI 0.98, RMSEA 0.03, TLI 0.98, CFI 0.99, and PNFI 0.54. Knowledge and all factors in the attitude and practice domain had an acceptable range in internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability. Conclusion: The finding of this study demonstrated that KAPCovQ is valid and reliable for measuring the KAP on Covid-19 in the general community.

Abstract More nurses are needed to meet the healthcare needs of older adults. Valid and reliable measures are lacking that assess attitudes and intentions of nursing students to select a career in geriatrics. This paper discusses the applicability of the Carolina Opinions on Care of Older Adults (COCOA) instrument on attitudes towards and intention to work with older adults among nursing students. A cross-sectional survey design was used with samples of nursing students from the United States (N=122) and Israel (N=109). Students completed the COCOA instrument and the measure’s dimensionality, construct validity, reliability and equivalence among the nursing students was tested. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) produced 5 factors explaining 59% of the variation with most of the items (17, 71%) loading above 0.40 on subscales according to the instrument’s original structure. Four items loaded on different subscales than originally described. One original subscale was eliminated (Value of Older Adults), and one new subscale was created (Older versus Younger Adults). The reliability scores were good to acceptable for all subscales (.60 - .80). Confirmatory FA supported the data’s fit to the modified COCOA instrument (CMIN/DF=1.55, CFI=.93, IFI=.93, RMSEA=.05). The analysis of model equivalence for USA and Israeli samples revealed significant differences attributed to Experience in Caring for Older Adults subscale. The modified COCOA instrument demonstrated good construct validity and reliability and can serve as estimation of nursing students’ attitudes towards older adults and intention to choose geriatrics as a career. Further studies are needed to test its predictive validity.

The Nurses Professional Values Scale-3 (NPVS-3) is an important instrument for measuring the development and sustainability of professional values in nurses and nursing students. The translation, adaptation, and validation on this scale, including in Indonesia, is still very limited. The purpose of this study was to examine the Indonesian version of NPVS-3. This study used forward and backward translation methods and a cluster random sampling of 600 nurses participated. The 28-item scale of NPVS3-I was tested using EFA, applying the principal axis factoring extraction method and varimax with Kaiser normalization rotation method. The CFA used SEM with AMOS. Findings suggested sufficient content validity, construct validity, and reliability of the Indonesian version of NPVS-3. The I-CVI values ranged between 0.80 to 1.00 and the S-CVI was 0.99. Construct validity was supported with loading factors ranging from 0.49 to 0.84 for three factors (Caring, Activism, and Professionalism). The CFA goodness-of-fit indices were X2 (df) = 1516.95 (347), p < 0.001, normed chi-square (X2/df) = 4.37, RMSEA = 0.106, SRMR = 0.079, and CFI = 0.735. The Indonesian version of the NPVS3 showed good internal consistency with Cronbach’s alphas for the instrument of 0.97 and 0.94, 0.95, and 0.89 for Caring, Activism, and Professionalism, respectively. The Indonesian version of the NPVS-3 is valid and reliable for use in Indonesia.

Abstract Background Reflection on clinical practice is the core of education for nursing students. Evaluating reflection on clinical experiences requires a tool which accurately measures reflection skills. The present study aims to develop and test the psychometric properties of a tool for measuring nursing students’ reflection on clinical practice. Methods Based on a mix-method exploratory approach, the study was carried out in two stages: in the first stage (the qualitative phase), the concept of reflection on clinical practice was established. In the second stage (the quantitative phase), the psychometric properties of the developed scale were evaluated. Results Based on the results of the exploratory factor analysis and the verification process, the final version of the scale came to consist of 36 items and 6 dimensions. The dimensions were: professional competence, internal sources of motivation, challenging situational clinical setting, dynamic organizational atmosphere, reflection-based self-management, and dynamic professional growth. Overall, 6 factors accounted for 62.79% of the variances. The factor loadings of the items ranged between 0.62 and 0.94, all of which were significant. The total intraclass correlation (ICC) of the scale was found to be 0.94. Also, evaluation of the reliability of the scale as measured through internal homogeneity yielded a total Cronbach’s alpha of 0.90. Conclusion The findings show that the developed scale for evaluation of nursing students’ reflection on clinical practice possesses satisfactory validity and reliability, and nursing professors can use this instrument to assess students’ reflection skills.

We validated the Japanese version of the Multidimensional Stress Questionnaire for Couples (MSQ) and examined construct validity and reliability. We conducted an online longitudinal survey of 300 husbands and 300 wives. The Japanese version of the MSQ (MSQ-J) had a two-factor structure centred on internal and external stressors. The internal-stressor factor showed sufficient validity and reliability, indicating its suitability for measuring marital stressors. The external-stressors factor also showed acceptable validity for both husbands and wives. The findings indicate that the MSQ-J is suitable for both research and clinical practice.

This article reports the development of the Faith Activities In The Home Scale (FAITHS). The initial FAITHS measure was improved on and expanded by using qualitative data of two separate samples and then empirically tested on three separate samples. Study 1 comprised two samples totaling 57 highly religious families from New England and California that represented the three major Abrahamic faiths (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam) and focused on item development. Qualitative data were used to expand the breadth of survey items and to verify that religious families participate in the activities presented in the scale. The objective of Study 2 was to examine the FAITHS’s reliability and validity using three samples of college students from a Southeastern university. The FAITHS demonstrated adequate validity and reliability. In addition to introducing a needed scale, the current study illustrates the importance of using qualitative data in scale development and improvement.

The practice of clinical learning is a bridge for gap between theory and practice. By learning practice clinics, nursing students are encouraged to prepare for graduate and worked in clinical practice. Evaluation of clinical learning environment needed to be able to create a conducive learning environment. CLES+T scale has been validated and used in more than 30 countries.The research aims is to validate the CLES+T scale into Indonesian version. CLES + T has been translated into Indonesian version using the rules of the international translation backward and forward. Construct validity using 4 oang experts in nursing and education. The SCVI result was 0.9405. Validity analysis was tested using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) with N = 46. Reliability tested using Cronbach's alpha. The results obtained eigenvalue and explanation precentage of 67%, it is concluded that the eigenvalue factors of CLES+T were sufficient. Cronbach alpha was obtained for 0786. CLES+T Indonesian version has been validated and can be used to evaluate learning environment as perceived by nursing students in Indonesia.
