The objective of this study was to reveal RULA method applications in terms of the knowledge, country, year and journal categories. The search was performed using the “Web of Science Core Collection”. The period from 1993 to April 2019 was selected. Eight hundred nine results were obtained, of which 226 were used. The largest number of publications was determined to be in the fields of industry and health and social assistance, which coincides with the OWAS and Standardized Nordic Questionnaire methods. By country, the USA stands out for its greater number of research studies and categories that are encompassed. By date, 2016 was the year when more studies were carried out, again coinciding with the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire. By journal, “Work—A Journal of Prevention Assessment and Rehabilitation” is highlighted, as it is for the REBA method as well. It was concluded that RULA can be applied to workers in different fields, usually in combination with other methods, while technological advancement provides benefits for its application.

Abstract Microplastics (MPs) pollution has garnered significant interest as a serious environmental problem. To date, a large amount of research has been published on this topic. We analyzed the related studies to assess the global developments of MPs regarding the evolution, research trends, and hotspots by bibliometric. A total of 2,872 bibliographic records were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection, and CiteSpace 5.4 was used for bibliometrics. The results visually displayed the contributing countries, institutions, authors, keywords, and potential research directions in the MPs fields. The scientific developments in this field began in 2004 and have accelerated considerably since 2012. China and the USA are the leading countries in MPs research. The research on MPs is multidisciplinary and involves Ecology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, and Oceanography. Among these, Oceanography was the most connected with MPs and was the most well-developed. Overall, we mapped the development of MPs research and attempted a comprehensive discussion and understanding of scientific advances, as well as the progress made.

The article analyzes the changes in the bibliometric characteristics of the array of Russian publications reflected in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS CC database) in the field of physics in 2018, compared to the same characteristics in 2010. The main parameter to assess the quality (research level) of arrays with bibliometric point of view was “Comprehensive index of quality” (CIQ) for the array of publications, calculated on the basis of one of the parameters in “Method for calculating the qualitative indicator of the state task “the Comprehensive performance score publication”...”, used by the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation. It was found that with an almost twofold increase in the volume of the array, there was a slight decrease in its quality in terms of CIQ in 2018 in comparison with 2010. The author also compared the characteristics of the array of Russian publications in 2018 with similar ones of the arrays on physical publications in Germany, India and Great Britain, located close to Russia in the ranking by the number of publications included in the WoS array (in this ranking, Russia was on the fourth place in 2018). In the ranking based on the CIQ indicator, the arrays of these countries are significantly ahead of the Russian one, and our country is only on the sixth place. The main reasons for this lag in the Russian publications array are identified. They are: a lower percentage of Russian publications in high-quartile journals and a greater number of publications from conference proceedings. The conclusion is made about the applicability of bibliometric analysis to identify trends in publishing activities in the scientific field.

Oxidative stress is considered one of the possible mechanisms behind chemobrain or the cognitive dysfunction persistent after chemotherapy treatment. Breast cancer patients have reported chemobrain symptoms since the 1990s. In this present bibliometric review, we employed the VOSviewer tool to describe the existing landscape on literature concerning oxidative stress, breast cancer chemotherapies, and chemobrain. As of 2019, 8799 papers were listed in the Web of Science database, with more than 900 papers published each year. As expected, terms relating to oxidative stress, mitochondria, breast cancer, and antioxidants have occurred very often in the literature throughout the years. In recent years, there has been an increase in the occurrence of terms related to nanomedicine. Only within the last decade do the keywords ‘brain’, ‘blood-brain barrier’, and ‘central nervous system’ appear, reflecting an increased interest in chemobrain. China has become the most prolific producer of oxidative stress and chemotherapy related papers in the last decade followed by the USA and India. In conclusion, the subject of oxidative stress as a mechanism behind chemotherapies’ toxicities is an active area of research.

The publication activity of the leading countries in the field of quantum technologies (QT), which include quantum computers and simulators, quantum sensors, quantum data transmission, and quantum metrology is analyzed. A general characteristic of the subject domain and scientometric analysis is carried out using the research chops from the Web of Science database covering the period 2000 – 2016. The sample of bibliographic publications is used to (i) estimate the growth rate of publications on QT in the leading countries (for the indicated period of time), (ii) identify the leading states in the number of publications (on the above-mentioned main directions of QT development), and (iii) determine the publication activity of Russia and the intensity of international cooperation. The results of the research demonstrated, that the USA and China are the leading countries in the field of quantum technologies. Regression dependences are constructed which provide forecasting and description of the functions reflecting the increasing number of publications in aforementioned countries. Using the criterion of signs and the Wilcoxon test for coupled pairs of observations, the hypothesis of significant differences in the publication activity of the United States and China was tested. Both tests at the level of significance α = 0.05 did not reveal significant discrepancies between the number of articles in the US and China on the twelve topics of the Web of Science database. At the same time, a significant advantage of American scientists in the number of publications in the field of quantum computations and creation of a universal quantum computer has been revealed. The primacy in this area is the main condition of «quantum» domination, which implies a significant acceleration of calculations, primarily, decryption of most of the algorithms used to protect information.

AbstractThe author of this article aims at comparing the publication activity of scholars from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary in education in the period of 1994-2014. Based on the comparative analyses, the author sought to determine: (1) trends in the scholarly performance in the analysed field of study (increase/decrease), (2) leading scientific institutions with the largest number of publications in the field of education, (3) scale of internationalization (international co-authorship). Furthermore (4) the author discusses the participation of scientists from the countries under analysis in the European (EU) and worldwide circulation of scholarly papers in the field of education. To perform the analyses, first the representative source had to be chosen. Considering that what is valued in science, also in Europe, is the prestige of a journal in which a paper is published while the overall science hierarchy is primarily based on the global grading of scholarly journals, we have chosen to use the data from the Thomson/Reuters database (Web of ScienceTM Core Collection) containing an index of selected papers with the so-called impact factor (IF), a well-known global indication of citation impact. Several publications in the journals with high IF is a confirmation of the high quality of scientific research while it also determines the level of internationalization of science. This study was conducted over twenty years (1994-2014) to make sure it was representative of the publishing activity and international output of scholars from the countries under analysis.

The highly cited publications in the Web of Science category of emergency medicine were identified and analysed. Articles that have been cited 100 or more times from Web of Science Core Collection since publication year to the end of 2019 were assessed regarding their distribution in indexed journals. Six publication indicators were applied to compare the publication performance of countries and institutes. The Y-index was applied to assess publication quantity and the characteristics of contribution to highly cited authors. Words used in the highly cited articles were analysed. Citation histories of the most frequently cited articles and the most impact articles were also compared. Results showed that the USA ranked top in the six publication indicators. The University of California Davis in the USA was the most independent institute.

PurposeThe present investigation aims to present the status of planetary science research in India using different scientometric indicators, as reflected in the Web of Science Core Collection database.Design/methodology/approachThe researcher adopted systematic approaches to retrieve the data from the Web of Science Core Collection database for 20 years by using AAS Astronomical subject keywords. A total of 1,504 Indian publications and 55,572 World's publications were considered for analysis. The data were analyzed using the biblioshiny application of bibliometrix to investigate the most productive countries/territories, institutions, authors, research fields, journals, keywords, and h, g-index. The VOSviewer program is used to construct and visualize scientometric networks and analyze the co-occurrence of terms. “Webometric Analyst 2.0” is used to retrieve the Altmetric attention scores for the articles.FindingsThe results revealed that the publications on planetary science research has increased over time, with an annual growth rate of 9.66%. The study also revealed the prolific authors and institutions, productive journals and most frequently cited journals. The USA was the major collaborating partner of India. The results also provided valuable information on the citations made to these papers on planetary science, including a total number of citations, average citations per item, cited rate and h-index. There were 28,086 citations to 1,504 papers. The top 67 citation papers were the h-core papers on planetary science in India. Altmetric score for planetary science articles ranged from 1 to 2,418. Twitter (69%), news outlets (16%), blogs (6%), and Facebook (6%) were the most popular Altmetric data resources.Originality/valueThis investigation is the first attempt to employ scientometrics and visualization techniques to planetary science research in India.

This bibliometric review aimed to identify and analyze the top 100 most-cited publications on the systemic manifestations of periodontal disease (PD). A literature search was performed using the Web of Science (WoS) ‘All Databases’, without any restriction of language, publication year, or study design. Of 4418 articles, the top 100 were included based on their citation count. After downloading the full texts, their bibliometric information was extracted and analyzed. The citation counts for the top 100 articles ranged from 156 to 4191 (median 217). The most productive years were 2003 and 2005, with 20 articles on the list. Majority of the articles were published in the Journal of Periodontology (n = 25). The top 100 articles were generated primarily from the USA (n = 61). Most of the publications were clinical trials (n = 27) and focused on the cardiovascular manifestations of PD (n = 31). Most of the articles were within the evidence level V (n = 41). A total of 58 studies received funding and the most frequently used keyword in the top articles was “periodontal disease” (n = 39). The current citation analysis presents insights into the current trends in the systemic manifestations of periodontal disease.

Background: Moyamoya angiopathy (MMA), which includes moyamoya disease (MMD) and moyamoya syndrome (MMS), is an uncommon cerebrovascular condition characterized by recurrent stroke. We carried out a bibliometric analysis to examine the development of and research trends in MMA research.Methods: Studies published between 2010 and 2019 on MMA were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) on August 14, 2020, and bibliometric and visualization-based analyses were performed by using three different scientometric tools: HistCite, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace.Results: A total of 1,896 publications published in 384 journals by 6,744 authors, 1,641 institutions and 56 countries/regions were included in the analyses. Annual publication outputs increased from 2010 to 2019. The USA, Japan and China were three key contributors to this study field. Capital Medical University, Seoul National University, and Stanford University were three major institutions with larger numbers of publications. Zhang D, World Neurosurgery, Kuroda S, and STROKE were the most prolific author, prolific journal, top co-cited author and top co-cited journal, respectively. The top five keywords during this period were moyamoya disease, revascularization, stroke, children and surgery, while revascularization surgery and RNF213 were the most common frontier topics.Conclusions: In this study, the research trends of global scientific research on MMA over the past decade were systematically analyzed. The study can provide guidance for scholars who want to understand current trends in research in this area and new research frontiers.

Open educational resources (OER) is a topic that has aroused increasing interest by researchers as a powerful contribution to improve the educational system quality and openness, both in face to face and distance education. The goal of this research is to map publications related to OER, dating from 2002 to 2013, and available through the Web of Science and Scopus scientific databases as well as in the OER Knowledge Cloud open repository. Data were used to explore relevant aspects related to the scientific production in OER, such as: (i) number of publications per year; (ii) most cited publications; (iii) authors with higher number of publications; (iv) institutions and countries with more publications and (v) most referenced bibliography by the authors. The analysis has included 544 papers, written by 843 authors, from 338 institutions, from 61 different countries. Moreover, the analysis has included the publications referenced and the author’s keywords, considering 6,355 different publications and 929 different keywords. Besides presenting a bibliographic mapping of the research on OER, this paper also intends to contribute to consolidate the idea that OER is a promising field for researchers, in line with the spreading of the Open movement.
